Not sure what is going on with this place! New owners? New management? I have been going there for a must be almost 20 years now with my cars and have been previously satisfied. Jim (the previous manager or owner) knew what customer service was and appreciated customer loyalty. Things have drastically changed! Just today I called looking to get on a hoist for an urgent but quick repair to refasten the heat shield to the underside of my car. The front half had fallen down and is acting like a plough and is about catch and completely rip off. Something that really couldn't wait, right?! I figured they could slip me in for the 5 minutes it would take to run a couple of screws in while I I waited. NOPE!! I called and spoke to a woman and told her the issue and that basically the car is not drivable without almost certain further immediate damage. When I suggested they might slip me in for this quick repair, she just about laughed. She went on to tell me that 10 DAYS from now is the first time they could possibly look at it and that they had 50 cars waiting. Huh? Not; " We happen to be super busy today but I'll see what I can do, OR try back later this afternoon OR I'll put you on a list for cancellations. Nothing. No effort to help. What's the point of being loyal to a garage when the one time I need something small done quickly they don't even try to help me? WTF I was extremely disappointed after all these years. I guess I'll have to go somewhere else. It appears their days of customer service are done and trying to jam through as many cars as possible is what's important. : ( read more

On May 15, 2023, this repair shop, OK Tire at Lady Hammonds Rd., replaced a converter, charged me $1,304.10 just for the part, plus costs for labors and supplies. With the invoice showing the code of the part, I was able to check by Googling the market price of the part - only to realize that the part is selling for $659.97 by Parts Avatar, delivered for free across Canada. So, the repair shop got an exorbitant 97% margin on the part! This is repair services where you make living largely on labor and expertise, not on parts you just order and pass their costs to customers, especially given the part's great availability in the whole country. Being in the business, the shop certainly can get an even lower price from its regular suppliers. The shop could have suggested to me to get the part delivered at a much lower cost to their shop to get installed; instead, they FOOLED a customer by HIDING such a possibility just to make UNJUSTIFIABLE money of $636 ! That is total lack of transparency, honesty, and customer care in best, and deceptive business practice in worst. read more

On the TV ad which I have seen far to many times the mechanic is holding a nearly new brake pad which he says will due for now. What I want to know is why did he take the time to take the good pad off the car at the owner expense? Richard read more

I needed my safety inspection done and since my regular trusted mechanic was booking two weeks in advance, I called around. Reading the good reviews on this place, thought I would give them a shot. Was pleased to get an appointment within days. That's where it stops. Drove in for my appointment and was promptly informed they were "running behind". I asked how long it would be and was informed it would be three hours. After offering excuses I stated it would have been nice if they had called me as I don't have time to sit around for four+ hours and could have come later. Not even a coffee maker in the waiting area. Was informed they were super busy all day and that was not possible. However they were sitting in one of the bays having a break when I arrived. "Would I like to reschedule?" Yes, but NOT with you. Your customer service is "mighty" inadequate as are your organizational skills. I now understand why they were so easy to book an appointment. Mighty disorganized; mighty full of excuses; mighty woefully lacking in customer service. Avoid this place and its new owners. Seems they haven't mastered customer service. read more

Ladies - if this isn't your usual garage, it should be! My exhaust was broken - my usual garage wanted to charge me $750 for a full replacement of the broken part because they "didn't do repairs". My car is 10 years old. Called Mighty - and they said they could do the repair and that a replacement wasn't necessary. $175, taxes in! AND they fit me in at the end of the day. Too many garages just want to remove the bad part and replace it with a new part and won't explore options of actual repair. These guys know what they're doing, they're honest, and customer service is A+ and then some. I'll be bringing my car here from now on - Mighty gained a new customer. Thanks, Guys! read more

What WHAT !!no reviews yet for mighty auto? OK so here is the short of the story. Ask for Jim tell him your woes leave out the wife and home issues he is interested in your car and then go under the car with him while on the hoist of course just watch your head and he will walk you through your problem then take you out front and offer an honest quote. I needed a converter gasket and spring bolt kit at 22.99 and 19.95 + an hour of labor. Now my 11 year old SUV is as good as new well almost. Other places said I needed a new converter + flex pipe at 385.00 + tax and one other place even pitched to sell me a whole new front to back exhuast system for 1200.00??? Folks this is a crooked ass world. My SUV is 11 years old but has only 79000 km on it so I am not going to buy the beat me over the head to replace everything pitch some guys tried on me becuase I drive an 11 year old. Such crap but this review is on mighty auto and so far after my first visit I have nothing but good things to say. Keep it up Mighty and I may even come back for more work. Lots of choices out there for car fix places I stay loyal to nobody except myself. read more

I'm not overly happy about my experience at Mighty Auto. The staff were SUPER friendly and I really appreciate that. However, I stated I was having an electrical issue with my car. They charged me the hoist fee, could not find anything wrong and did a very minor change out (which definitely needed to be done) but that was not the real issue. It's been a week and I'm having the exact same problem. I really did like the customer service, and I get it's sometimes difficult to troubleshoot electrical problems but I don't like being sent away simply to have the same issue come up shortly after, having to pay for another tow. If customer service was enough in the world of car repair, I would get it towed back to them but at this point I'd rather pay more for the tow and take it to my usual guy. I'd say give them a shot for anything that doesn't require some serious troubleshooting to figure out. And, to be fair, I probably could've told them to put it back on the hoist and run up the charge looking for the problem. I'm still unsatisfied, as I've had other tricky issues at other shops where they've spent time finding the problem and charging a flat diagnostic fee or hoist fee, and then charging labor to fix the problem once it's been found. read more

Jim is excellent and so is the service. I've had my vehicle there several times over the years and am always very happy with both the service and the prices they offer. I would highly recommend them and will continue to take my vehicles there for the foreseeable future. read more

I have been coming here for 10 years now with a 2005 Saab, and have never had an issue. I have had everything done here, from brakes to oil changes to exhaust work to sub frame work. They always do it right, know their stuff, give good advice, and are fairly priced. They seem more focused on getting my car right than prying open my wallet. Happy customer. read more

The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Overall, the service was amazing. They brought me under the hoist and explained what was wrong. They put me at ease and had my safety as the number one priority. They are very honest and genuine. Another mechanic could have easily bended the truth to make money off of me. I've had some work done here over the past couple of years and lately have been very sceptical about their quality of work, I have seen evidence of poor attention to detail on multiple occasions. Although I have had some questionable experiences at this shop, when the employees were confronted with my concerns they put forward a great deal of effort to solve the problem at hand and were reasonable and easy to deal with throughout the process. read more

I had been a customer at Mighty Auto for over 10 years. I liked dealing with Matt and their Halifax location was very convenient. We're all creatures of habit; I continued to go there for repairs even as the number of sloppy repairs started to increase. I was at the shop once waiting for my truck and Matt was on the phone apologizing to a customer about a mistake that had been made. When he finished the conversation he placed his head on the counter and said "Why do we F@#$% up so much". I should have taken by business somewhere else!!!! This is my last experience with Mighty Auto. I had the brakes replaced. They said the lower ball joints were bad and suggested replacing them. I had them replaced. When I drove the car home I found the steering wheel was not lines up and that the wheels would not turn properly. I took it back to Matt and said the wheel alignment was not done properly, the wheels did not turn properly and I could hear the bearings on the left tire when driving on the highway. Matt said that their wheel alignment machine was old it was an issue he had with the owner, and that since the lower ball joints were new they were stiff. He said the bearings were fine. The mechanic who did the work even drove the truck and iterated the same sentiment. The bearings failed about 4 months later and the new guy at the counter wanted to charge me to replace them. I had to fight with him and pointed out that the issue went back to when the brakes were replaced. The new guy said if you had brought it back then we could have done something. I TOLD HIM I HAD BROUGHT IT BACK BUT HE WAS NOT LISTENING!! I called Matt who is now working at a different location and they finally agreed to replace them under warranty. The repair was still not done properly and I can still hear the bearings though not as bad as before. Another 4 months and the lower ball joints they installed failed. They had not been greased. I had them replaced at another shop (I wanted the job done properly) and called Matt. He had the excuses they were probably defective, can't see how that would fail I'm sure they are pre-lubed, they weren't. Matt is a very personable person that's why we went back there for so long. The reality is Mighty Auto does sloppy work and I would not recommend them at all. I was a customer for over 10 years who used to recommend him to friends look how they treated me!!!! read more

It was a Saturday morning and my mother was in town visiting. She was planning on leaving that afternoon and had a 4 hour drive ahead of her. We were driving to the farmer's market when the gear shift started sticking when shifting gears. She became worried that there might be a more serious problem and was stressed about the possibility of breaking down on her way home. I called Mighty Auto to see if they might be able to take a quick look and see whether there might be a more serious problem or whether she might be able to get home. The mechanic was extremely nice and reassured my mother that it might just be a bit of rust in her gear shift points and she should make an appointment with her mechanic to get it oiled up. He gave her peace of mind along with a smile and she left reassured and relieved. That simple gesture was enough to get her home without worry. More impressive, she was not charged for this. read more

Went there once. They told me the cylinder head needed repair. The valve was bent due to a broken timing belt. I got the repair bill for over four hundred dollars. I found out a few months afterward from a high end machine shop that repairs only things like this. They told me it's impossible for me to have a bent valve because I have a floating cam shaft that does not harm the valves in any way when a timing belt breaks. I went back and asked for my money back. They did not refund my money, but they did give me credit. The mechanics name was Ed. I was enticed to visit by the half price mvi. I knew I had a leaking rear drum brake cylinder, but everything else worked great especially the emergency brake....until after the service! They confirmed my diagnosis about the leaking brake cylinder, but also said that the emergency brake pivots were ceased. They said my e-brake would work even better after this was fixed. I picked up my truck and it would barely turn over because they killed the battery, but eventually started. It would only go 20 km/hr with no power, so I barely made it to the dodge dealer who had to reset the computer for me. Only then could I drive it home. Once there I parked in my steep driveway and put my e-brake on like always...it went right to the floor...no brake at all...way worse than when i brought it in for service! How does it get a new mvi sticker with no emergency brake?! I called and they made an appointment for me a week away and offered to "have a look". AN inconvenience for me as I need to arrange for someone to give me a drive to and from. $500 dollars for an mvi and now no e-brake and having to get the computer reset. Never again will my shadow darken the door here! read more
