We got our annual vehicle inspection done here just a couple weeks ago and, even though we weren't pleased with the results, were happy with who helped us. The inspection itself only took about an hour. That's from the time the car was dropped off to the time of the call saying it was ready. We were pretty impressed with the speediness of their business. Sadly, the car had too many problems with it and wasn't necessarily worth fixing. We really appreciated that, when phoned by a mechanic at Todds, we were told exactly what was wrong, approximately how much it would cost and how long it would take. What we truly appreciated was the mechanic telling us it probably wasn't worth to fix. Normally a mechanic will just do the work and take your money, no matter how necessary it was. So now we're in need of a new car, but at least we don't feel cheated by the person doing the inspection. We were satisfied with the result and service at Todds, but certainly not happy about needing a newer car.

They are sort of hidden from any main traffic off Creighton street, but they are always busy. We need to book a week in advance to make sure we can get in when we want to; which is slightly inconvenient, but they are a great garage so it comes with the territory. Here's an example of the great service. We brought our car in for a safety check last year and the car failed; we needed to get close to a $1000 in repairs. We asked Craig for a list of things that had to be done, which he gladly gave even after we told him we were going to a friend's garage to do the work, and didn't charge us for the inspection. We still go there and will still be going there for a while.

They're really straight-forward, down-to-Earth and don't try to upsell you. They'll let you know if there are parts that can wait to be replaced or if they need to be done right away. Once my car had a sporadic strange noise and when they couldn't find an issue on my first visit, they told me to drop in any time it was doing it without making an appointment. (They've since figured it out and fixed it.) They offer taxi chits if you need to drop your car off and go somewhere and come back. I am a repeat customer because of their customer service and recommend them regularly. The only drawback at this location is that sometimes parking can be hard to find. When that happens, I usually just pull up in front of the window and pop in to ask where they want me to leave the car. It also helps that they have a 10% CAA discount!

They ripped off the valid mvi sticker (1 year left) and refused to give me a rejected mvi sticker so I could take it to another shop for a second opinion or repairs. They tried to force me to replace all rotors, pads and callipers for 1800 by implying that I would be caught by the rcmp as soon as I left the shop. I ordered the highest/premium quality car parts for 400 online (all rotors and pads) and got them replaced at another shop, even though all I needed was rear brake pads. They kept arguing that if I drove the car I would be stopped by the rcmp unless I got the car towed away (sort of implying they would call the cops on me and scare me into getting repairs done through them). I then asked if I could park the car at their lot until 7pm to get a tow truck however they did not allow it and asked me to drive my "unroadworthy car with failed brakes" across the street and park it there.
