Five Star Cellars absolutely blew our minds. The wines are big, bold, and so, so good. Cameron, the wine maker, is awesome. He is fun to talk to, super knowledgeable, and full of stories. He chooses to age his wines longer in barrels and bottles before releasing them so they are ready to be consumed when opened, which sets Five Star apart from other wineries. We mostly tasted 2018 and 2019 reds. That being said, he recommends holding onto wines longer if you can. He has two labels: Five Star Cellars and Ragaire, which are both great. We bought several bottles and HAD to join the wine club, especially since they also have a tasting room in Woodinville. We brought two friends with us, who also loved it so much, they joined the wine club too. Five Star is dog friendly. The tasting room is a little outside of downtown Walla Walla, right next to the airport, but it is not to be missed - a hidden gem in Walla Walla for sure. read more

I have to admit this is my first negative review on yelp! We went here and the older gentleman (with glasses) offered us tasting, which we said yes to. He seemed like he didn't care and was put off by us asking questions about the wine. Clearly we're not from around the area and definitely there to get wine. The wine seemed flat and didn't have the flavor or character that was present in the other 7 wineries around the airport area that we went too. Definitely glad this wasn't our first stop since it would have put a damper on the Walla Walla trip. The only wine that we seemed to like was the 2011 Quinque Astrum. Then he charged us a tasting fee without taking it off of the bottle price. Which is the only place that did that. Definitely wouldn't stop by again after an experience like that. read more

I first discovered Five Star Cellars during a party, when a friend of mine brought a bottle from this boutique winery that I had never heard of. After that first bottle, I knew that I had to make a trip out to visit the winery in person. Like many of the wineries near the Walla Walla airport, the grapes are not grown on site. If you want the stereo-typical winery experience (castle-like architecture, old vines growing on the property, stuffy sommelier), stay out of the wineries near the airport. If you want to discover good wine, then give these guys a try. This is a family run operation, and you really get the personal attention that you would not normally see at the larger wineries. Five Star Cellars has been a go-to winery of mine every year I go down for Spring Release. They emulate the family vibe and treat each person with the utmost respect and create a great tasting experience. You can find them at the end of the Airport District, I highly recommend taking the extra five minutes to walk down to their tasting room and experience their wines and great family atmosphere. All of the individuals pouring are extremely knowledgeable about their wines and the wine industry as a whole. One of the great attributes of Five Star is Cameron Rushton who is their Assistant Wine Maker. He gives each and every customer individual attention even during the mad rush of Spring Release. Just went back to Walla Walla and visited Five Star again. We love it there, and enjoy hanging out and visiting with Cameron. One of the things I really enjoy about 5 Star is they are tasting drinkable wines right now from 2007-2010. No 1-2 year old Cabs, Merlots and Syrahs, they actually let their wines age appropriately before pouring. And you get an 11 bottle taste for $5! read more

Conveniently located in the airport winery district of Walla Walla, it's worth stopping in to check out the wine. The Syrah is very popular; most folks seem to enjoy it. I found the wines to be a bit mossy, maybe just a little too earthy for my tastes, and slightly over-priced. However, Five Star Cellars has scored well in the wine magazines and they sell a lot of wine, so maybe my taste buds are just off on this one. It just wasn't one of my favorites, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't check them out. read more

The best wines we tasted out of the 6-7 we visited Labor Day weekend. The Merlot & Sangiovese we our favorites even though we purchased 4 different varietals. This is a family operation and they are very passionate about their wine and it shows. Very nice people, great wines. read more

The delivery driver for this winery does not provide Five Star service. Very poor attitude and argued with our store about putting the product away, a whopping one case. He didn't use our receiving area, which we have told him about before as well. Overall, he's a poor representation of the winery. read more

Wines were well received and of high quality for WW. The Syrah and Reserve Cabernet - Stellar are our favorites but the Sangio was best-in-class with the rest of our group. The Winery staff and Wine maker Matt Huse were extremely engaged in answering our Qs and showing us around the winery. Not in any hurry and took the time to get to know us. It's not the nicest tasting room, but the people are very friendly and the wines are really good. I primarily drink reds and like their cab, merlot, and syrah. My girlfriend also likes their reds and appreciates the friendliness of the owner and ability to talk about his wines. read more

This was the most uncomfortable tasting I have done in the Walla Walla area. All of the tasting rooms that I have visited are welcoming and kind with great customer service. Our attendant was condescending and dismissive. When we said we had been to 2 other wineries he responded that he noticed we were eating crackers and that we couldn't taste anything. He then stopped serving us. We left feeling extremely uncomfortable, unsure if he was judging us on our appearance or perceived age? As we tried to thank him for the tasting on our way out he was looking down at the floor. I do not recommend this tasting room. read more
