At one point, I was quoted hundreds of dollars for a repair I knew cost less than $20 at a hardware store, justified only by "that's what the system, Xactimate, says." That experience alone raised serious concerns about how a major claim would be handled. Unfortunately, I eventually found out. After a winter storm, I noticed a small water stain on my ceiling. Upon inspection, it was clear there was a significant moisture issue in the attic--every sheet of roof plywood was wet. Despite this, Allstate determined it was not a "new issue" and denied coverage, leaving me responsible for a full roof replacement costing over $16,000. All for the sake of refinancing. I informed Scott about the delays with the refinancing process. At that time American financing was stringing me along, as well, so there were unexplained delays. I have never had a refinance to be so laborious. They insisted we have the insurance in place, if for nothing else a better rate for my benefit. End result, I currently have NO INSURANCE ON MY HOME. The necessary steps were not taken once Safeco, (former insurance carrier), was canceled and Farmers the new carrier was secured. Now, Scott is back-peddling and passing the buck. He is suddenly NOT responding to emails. Meanwhile, after 20 years of homeownership, I HAVE NO HOME OWNERS INSURANCE. Which, in my humble opinion is the MOST important issue here.
