Well, it is against federal law (Durbin Amendment). The Durbin Amendment (part of the Dodd-Frank Act) aims to control debit card interchange fees and prohibits surcharging. There was no line item for the charge. there was a $9 difference between the store receipt and the debit card receipt and the store receipt stated cash. So, just a word to the wise, you will get fleeced at this place so make sure you bring cash or go somewhere else.

A few minutes after my new broker faxed over my signed cancellation letter, Kevin called my cell phone and left a very disturbing, unprofessional voice mail. He demanded to know why I was canceling my policy with him because he "never heard me discuss with him that I was unhappy with my insurance". I called Kevin back to confirm that yes, it is my signature on the cancellation page and that my policy with him should be terminated immediately. Kevin then made fun of my new agent on the phone with me by saying "how long has this new agent been practicing? He certainly seems new at this". Kevin then proceeded to tell me that I will need to pay a $50 cancellation fee. After hearing of my wonderful conversation with Kevin, my new broker sent my cancellation letter directly to the insurance company. The insurance company ensured that I would not accrue a cancellation fee and terminated my policy right then without question.
