Could not recommend Five Iron any higher! Whether you're an avid golfer or just looking for something different to do in the city, this is the place for you. I personally like to come to Five Iron in the mornings before work to get some practice in. The simulators give you great data feedback about what you are doing right and wrong with your swing so that you can make quick progress towards lowering your scores. Five Iron is also great to drop by in the afternoons/evenings/weekends for a few drinks with some friends whilst playing one of ~100 world class golf courses. They have a full bar and the food is great. I've also played in a couple of the Golf Leagues that they organize which has been really fun. You form a team of 4 and you play one night a week in a different format each week against other teams. One week you'll play a 4-man scramble at Pebble Beach, the next you'll play a Hogan format at Torrey Pines. The format and courses you play change every week to keep things fresh and exciting. This is way more fun than that kickball league that your co-worker is trying to get you to sign up for. Finally, the staff at Five Iron are second to none. You'll be greeted with a smile and coffee/beer as soon as you arrive. The team will go above and beyond - like delivering your clubs to your office when they had to close down briefly during July '18 because of a steam pipe explosion on 5th Ave, or just ensuring that you have the fluffiest towel when you hit the showers. read more

Completely new to golf, but it's next to impossible to just pick up living in the city. Walked past this place enough times for me to finally wander in for a lesson. Once I got in I realized this was where I need to be. The instructors have made it very easy for me to not only learn the basics of posture, grip, etc, but making me feel like I make progress each time. I've picked up a ten pack of lessons, and may do a second batch depending how it goes by the end. I have been to Five Iron Golf a few times now and have had a great experience each time. From a golf perspective, the simulators are state-of-the-art and play truer to any other simulator I have used in the past. The ability to use top-of-the-line clubs at no charge and have a variety of different golf balls to choose from also makes Five Iron Golf stand out from other simulators. From a social perspective, Five Iron Golf has it nailed down. A small bar, solid food selection, ping pong table and several TV's, make for a solid social setting that does not intrude on the golf experience, but allows for a little bit of everything. Seems like they have some great events from their Instagram, but I have not attended one yet. A friendly and helpful staff contribute to an all-around great experience. This place is fantastic! 2 quick things to mention: 1) they are not on ground level so look for a sandwich board sign out front. 2) the stairwell and elevator are a bit off putting, don't be sketched out. They don't own the building, the stairwell or or elevator so it's 100% out of their control. As soon as the doors open you realize the time and care that went into building 5iron. 8 of us went and they put us in essentially a private room with 2 sims, a shuffle board table, and a bar with a bartender. I think we drank every bud lite in the place actually. Besides the sims and shuffleboard there is also a free ping pong table, food, golf instructors, and free rental clubs. The staff was all friendly, patient, and knowledgable as well which is a rare find in NYC. We will be coming back for sure read more

I can finally make Golf my hobby again, thanks to Five Iron Golf. I love Golf. I also love the City. Sadly, life in the City made it difficult to pursue the hobby like I used to. It's an ordeal to get to any decent golf course if you live in Manhattan, and the Chelsea Piers Golf Club (where you're just hitting balls and not playing golf) is crowded on weekends and out of the way from subways. The lack of accessibility meant I played less and less until it wasn't even a hobby anymore because golfing had become a rare and special occasion. That deprivation came to an end when I discovered Five Iron Golf two months ago. A 3-minute walk from Union Square makes the location as good as it gets in the City. Facilities are spankin' new, air-conditioned, and serve food and alcohol, so it's a great place to bring your friends. The guys there are super-friendly and helpful, and did an amazing job with the space. To date, I haven't missed a weekend at FIG since discovering the place. The simulators are extremely accurate and fun to use. You can play whenever you want regardless of the weather. Being able to actually track my trajectories and stats means I can significantly improve my game because I can experiment with my swing, something much harder to do at daytime in a driving range littered with golf balls. Hearing your clubs smash indoors with such audible, reverberating power is an awesome feeling too. There's hundreds of real-life courses loaded into the software as well. If there's a course you used to frequent back home, you can invoke the nostalgies in the comfort of an air-conditioned room in the City. I probably sound like I prefer virtual golf over real golf, and that's because I do now. Their reservation system means I play when I want, instead of having to wait an hour for a booth to open up. House clubs are in pristine condition, and they even carry graphite shafts, which is a huge plus for me. There's showers on premises, and lockers for members. The food they serve is actually of restaurant quality. Finer details like these sweeten the deal for an already-exceptional package. All in all, whether you're a jaded soul resigned to the inaccessibility of golf in the City, or just a casual golfer looking to hit some balls with friends, Five Iron Golf is a breath of fresh air. This was a really cool spot. First time here and simulators etc were top notch (just make sure to put your ball ahead of the tee so it works right). The co-owner was very welcoming and gave us a nice tour when we got there and even gave us an extra half hour. Only negative was that the younger more junior person helping us out wasn't that nice and was a bit condescending toward us but I don't necessarily blame him since was late at night and pretty busy. I've gotta say - it was really cool. I sorta gave up golfing because it is such a trek from the city and then you've got the winter months. I've tried Chelsea Piers before but you go there to grind with bro squads rather than unwind and have fun so haven't been back since my initial trip. This place is different - it eases you in to a relaxed and laid back atmosphere with a well stocked bar, ping pong table and loungey couches. Having a bountiful Murrays Cheese spread and some spectacular guac also added to the feel-good vibe. There were an assortment of folks there - some newbies, some rusty has-beens (me!) and every mix inbetween. I was able to work on my short and long game (read: re-learn how to swing a club after 5 years outta practice) and connect with some cool ladies with a common interest. This is a great relaxing place hidden in the middle of the city. They have a full bar and food made ready to order. I recommend booking ahead of time but they do try to accommodate walk-ins. Chris and Will were very helpful and made sure I was having the best experience possible at all times. If you're simply looking to hit a few balls to keep the rust off or if you wanna sharpen your game with a few lessons, this place is great. If you need a glove, you can buy one there or just bring your own. They have state of the art technology and equipment, with the sensors hidden in the walls and ceiling so there's nothing but the ball and the tee! They weren't able or willing to setup the Trackman correctly. I ask for the "apex of the golf shot". Their response - the white line. I repeated my request- the maximum height of the golf shot the apex, still no help. Ask for other basic information, no help. I would not be so upset if they would wear mask when talking to customers. I found the trackman at this location to give you wrong distance. My seven iron carry distance increased ( many shots ) from 160 yards to 175 yards depending on which machine I used. I ask the person to make sure there is no wind or elevation - they just looked at me . The golf balls they give you are extremely poor condition. Maybe you can bring your own golf balls. read more

Scandalous dump. Came here a lot over past year and spent a lot of money. My last visit the computer wasn't registering distances correctly and two guys tried to fix it for 40 minutes then gave up. We asked them not to charge us for that time and they agreed, but 3 hours later they were gone and had charged us. The other guys working there instead claimed we agreed on free tatter tots, even though we ordered them and this was never discussed or agreed upon. If they are hurting that bad for an extra 40 minutes of fees they could have just asked. Check out The Clubhouse in Fairfield instead - BYOB, TrackMans, and honest workers charging less in fees. read more

Five Iron Golf is a wonderful place to play or practice, whether you're a new golfer or a seasoned regular. The Five Iron Golf staff are kind and attentive, and the facilities and the simulators are top notch. The space is welcoming and feels comfortable but not crowded. You can easily socialize with friends, take a lesson, or just go and practice your game. Playing a round of golf on their simulators is extremely fun, and the software is easy to use. You can practice on the range, or play one of the many courses included on the simulator. The full-swing simulators at Five Iron Golf are easily some of the best in the city, and the cost to play on them is lower than at other places offering similar services. And you can bring your own clubs or use the clubs they have available, which are in great condition (unlike other places where the clubs seem to have seen better days...). I'd also highly recommend taking a lesson (or two or more!) with Mike. He's a great, patient instructor who really takes the time to help get your swing to where you want it to be. If you're a new golfer like I am and want to improve your swing or your game, I'd highly recommend signing up for a lesson. As someone who is just getting into golf, I cannot say enough good things about Five Iron. It's everything you'd want (and expect) for a golf experience in Manhattan--fun, convenient, reasonably priced, clean, and laid back. Really amazing new golf studio in Flat Iron. The studio itself is beautiful and is only going to get better as times goes on (beer, wine, food etc). There are 4 simulators which are incredible. Rather than just wacking away at the range, I can analyze my swing path, club face and swing speed to try and really tweak my swing. I also take lessons with Mike and he has been fantastic. Came for a work event and left with a newfound love and passion to learn and play golf. Had some one on one instruction from two amazing golf gurus Jeff and Susan, they molded this shapeless clay of a man and within 2 hours corrected so much of my stroke that we were starting to see results already. I'm still trash but definitely seeing improvements, being that everything is digital and computerized, it was so amazing to see the minute details of the progress. As a stat nerd it totally was amazing to see how I could be efficient in my play. Note that these instructors literally broke down the proper techniques in ways that were personalized to my style, body, and swing, as well as keeping it in layman terms being that I'm such a golf noob. They also did not make me feel uncomfortable or pressured or embarrassed when I would swing and either not make contact or just have terrible form. Somebody should've taken the tequila out of my and and replaced it with a tennis racquet. Either way these two should get a fat raise, literally one of the top reasons why I would come back. The bartender made great drinks, didn't get a chance to try the grub but it looked great. Ping pong table was also amazing, paddles fairly new. There's some putting holes to work on your short game. All in all great place to hang with golf enthusiasts, and easy way to get some practice in if you're stuck in the city. also noticed a nintendo switch chillin on the side, sad that nobody was playing (considering I brought mine) so if anyone wanted to catch these hands in Smash Bros. and play some virtual holes come see me at 5 Iron Golf! read more

My friend and I went here for the first time this week and had an amazing time. It's on the 3rd and 4th floor. When you walk in, on both floors, one side has two spaces that's very out in the open and if you walk the opposite direction, it has a more secluded area.. although anyone that passes by will be able to see you play. We were greeted by the host, Michael, who was super friendly. We didn't have a reservation so we had to wait for the next available space which was in a hour. He walked us upstairs and introduced us to the bartender and we ended up having sliders and sweet potato fries. They were yummy! When the space we wanted opened, Michael, walked us over and explained how everything worked. Throughout our game, he made sure to check up on us several times to see if we needed anything. We were very impressed with the top-notch service he provided! I would definitely be back, but probably with a group of friends! :) Tips: 1. Great indoor golf area place! They let us take practice swings before and gave us a short tutorial before we started the game! The food was pretty good also! The only thing was the gave stopped working when we were almost finished and bad to wait till it came back on! And the elevator didn't work going up (we didn't miind the walk up though). Super chill. First timer, tourist. Brought the family in, didn't make a reservation (make one, help them out). There didn't seem to be room so they apologized and offered us a free simulator pass for another time, then showed us up to the ping pong table and bar area after visiting, very cool. Later they came back and said someone had cancelled and they could get us in a sim for 30 minutes, and got us some waters. Best of all, they didn't even charge us for the 30 mins!
