One of my favorite burgers place. I got cheese burgers with double mushrooms, lettuce, green peppers, and mayonnaise for the toppings. The portion is big as always and my son got the little cheese burger plain. The ingredients are fresh and serve warm. I also love their Cajun fries. Always overflow from the cup. Worst five guys experience I've ever had, and I will never order from them again. I actually placed an order through DoorDash. They received a scam call saying that someone had used their credit card. I called the restaurant and explained that I paid via PayPal and didn't even use a credit card. The manager yelled at me and then hung up. I went to the restaurant because I wanted the food, and they wouldn't give it to my dasher. When I entered the restaurant I was already on the phone with their corporate office and made sure to get the name of the person who had yelled and hung up on me. After finishing my report, I paid for the food a second time and the manager yelled at me again and insinuated that I was a thief. He had the nerve to say "you're stealing some old lady's credit card and they are going to see you because it's all on camera" and then pointed at the camera. I couldn't believe it. I have never stolen anything in my life and the first thing I choose to steal definitely would not be a burger. I later contacted their store owner who claimed this was not a fireable offense and offered to send me coupons. COUPONS as compensation for being yelled at and defamed! Unacceptable behavior by the manager and owner. On top of that I discovered the information about the scammer because 1.) they mentioned a payment method that I did not even own 2.) they text me after asking for an additional tip when my dasher clearly spoke Chinese and 3.) DoorDash confirmed that my account was not compromised and that the order had been cancelled by the merchant. I explained to the owner that I used to work for DoorDash and I know how the system works. The dasher does not have access to my payment method or phone number so they wouldn't have been able to text me outside of the app. If the scammer had accessed my account they would have known the correct payment method. The only account that has that information is the merchant account, so I was literally accused of being a thief because they were the victim of a security breach. The manager deserves to be fired and no one should order DoorDash from here because their system is compromised. read more

It's been a minute since I've stopped in a Five Guys. The location in Maryland was a go to since it was so close to my office. This was our first visit to the Pensacola location. The place was spotless, the cashier very friendly and the food, of course, was cooked to order. The burger was just as I remembered dressed as I requested on a soft, fresh roll. My companion opted for a hot dog with cheese and Cajun fries. No complaints from him on his selections. The Diet Coke was flat and undrinkable. Perhaps the machine needs a cleaning. read more

Even though I order the smallest burger and the smallest fry, I still cannot finish a meal there - so you definitely get your money's worth! The cashiers are always greeting you with a smile and very accommodating while you list every little thing you would like on your burger! Also, you have just got to try a chocolate malt with *bacon*! Burgers are fried on a grill but you can tell they are real meat. Standardized cooking so don't expect your burger to be rare or even medium rare. They were still good. Variety of add on like grilled onions, mushrooms, jalapeños, relish, etc. French fries were whole potato cut. They needed a little more salt. Be ready, they don't skimp on the quantity. Little pricy. If you have Celiac Disease or a gluten allergy this is the burger spot to eat at. This location has always been excellent for gluten free. You are never made to feel like a burden asking for your burger in a lettuce wrap or a dish. I have been coming here for 3 years now and have never been cross contaminated. When you tell them your order is for an allergy, they call out the allergy and take out fresh ingredients for your order. Honestly so few restaurants go above and beyond in doing this so it is a real pleasure to eat at this location. One of the few spots in Pensacola I can eat at safely since I am so sensitive to cross contamination. As well as the burgers and fries are seriously top notch! read more

So I am not naming the specific Five Guys location this happened at because I don't think they are supposed to do this and I don't want them to get in trouble. The burgers here have always left me with the impression of overhyped mediocrity. I am always looking to be surprised, so today it was time for another try. My memory was really about a burger that was under-seasoned and greasy, so I thought that I would add bacon and cheese to give it some flavor, and grabbed a couple of packs of salt and pepper, just in case. The burger wasn't really greasy, so I thought that the first bite was decent. I still realized that it was under-seasoned, and even after adding my own seasonings liberally, this was just not a standout burger in flavor or texture. I just saw an article about Five Guys on The Huffington Post citing a national survey of 7500 people that put Five Guys at the top of the burger chain pile. I see things like this and wonder how many people responding are really into food, and how many are riding on a wave of hype, i.e. a huge body of written "reviews". I don't get the impression that Five Guys is as much about word of mouth, as clever in house marketing. They say that they don't advertise, but when they were a small company, they would have large billboards in the D.C. area touting all of the great reviews and awards. I found them because of a billboard when visiting the area quite a few years ago, and wasn't bowled over even back then. The entire eye level wall space is covered with great reviews in bold red block print, and I saw one today that said "Best of New York" by the site Time Out New York. I know this site pretty well and decided to check this out. I was doubtful that Five Guys could do so well in a great burger city where people line up around the block for places like Shake Shack. I'm not doubting that Five Guys might have been mentioned at some point, but the list that I found on the Time Out site had a list of 10 great burgers in NY, and no mention of Five Guys. It's an adequate burger, almost enough for me not to dislike it, but their marketing reeks of something cleverly foul. One thing that Pensacola can be proud of is that it is a very good burger town, so seek out those really good local burgers. read more

I've been to Five Guys twice, and the only reason that I went back the second time was as a "benefit of a doubt" gesture. The burger: Overcooked, dry, and tasteless. I didn't stand there and watch them cook the patties, but from the arid slab of beef, the grillmeister continually uses a spatula to squeeze the life-juice out of the patty. Horrible. The patty itself is maybe a bit thinner than a McD's Quarter Pounder patty and completely unremarkable. As it says on the menu board, "All of our meat is cooked well-done and juicy." Huh. One out of two isn't good enough. The bun: Sesame seeds are a plus. Not toasted enough. Wrapped up in that stupid aluminum foil, which steams the bun and makes the texture unpleasant to me. The toppings: Plentiful and of high quality. I love the iceberg lettuce and the pickles...both very crunchy and fresh tasting. The onions are diced into little cubes, a la Whataburger. The fries: Whatever. They're fresh and you get a lot of them. Inconsistency is a problem, where half of my fries were undercooked and the other half were just fine. But they're fried potatoes...whatever. The staff: Pleasant, friendly, and efficient. The counter peeps and the floor folks stay busy and are not inarticulate and rude. Overall: Look, I hate the way the meat is cooked, wringing out any juice and consequent flavor. I hate the way that that the burgers are compressed in the armor of a foil wrapper. I hate the way that you could go eat two better meals elsewhere for the same price. I won't go back. I'd rather have a burger from any national chain instead of one of these over-cooked pucks of beef. People love these damned burgers, and that makes me immediately suspect them of either never having had a truly great hamburger or that they simply have no taste. Whatever. The previous yelps pretty much describes the Five Guys experience but after having dined there several times I'm obligated to add my two cents. Yes, the burgers are fresh and good with plenty of toppings. I've found it's best to avoid the grilled onions and mushrooms. They only tend to soak the bun and add little flavor. Go with the fresh uncooked onions instead. Also, go with the single patty, small burger, unless you're a NFL lineman. The Five Guys slaughter potatoes the way American settlers did the plains buffaloes. I really don't get it why they don't do a small size. At least potatoes aren't on the endangered list. The dry roasted peanuts are a nice touch. I'm never in a hurry to get my food while munching on those. Now, here's the down side. Why should a burger, fries and a drink cost over $10 and have a tip jar? You can get an equally good burger at Topps (or Ed's if you're in DFS) with standard sides for much less. Went just before the church crowd and was able to get in and out with little effort. Tried to go yesterday but the line was out the door. It's worth the wait and the crowd. No frills, just great food. Incredibly generous portions. Two people could split a small order of fries and probably still wouldn't finish them. The regular burger is double patty, and the "little" burger is normal sized hamburger. The meat itself wasn't anything special, but something about the combination and amount of condiments was just perfect. You know that suacey mixture that ketchup, mayo, pickle juice, and mustard makes? YUMMO Because of the design of the restaurant, it's a little noise, but such was fitting for the "just great burgers" atmosphere. Loved it. I have to say that Five Guys is good. But that's it. For the money you spend here, you're really over-paying, IMHO. Remember Fudruckers, back in the day? How you were all hyped up and excited to go there because it sounded so cool, but after experiencing it, and overpyaing, were happy to just go back to Wendy's? Well, to me, this is the same thing. I've had their burgers here on 4 different occasions and even a couple of their hot dogs. You just simply don't feel like you're getting your money's worth (to me). I love their fries, but the burgers are just - "good". Tough to compare anything out there to In-N-Out Burger (West Coast) and after having worked at the headquarters of Hardee's/Carl's Jr, it's tough to look elsewhere in fast food. But I love food, and my taste-buds don't lie. Blue Dot is another place where, even though you're really paying for the cult following, it's worth trying at least once (but get there early). Haven't tried Tops yet. I hear there are a few different locations and no one is sure if they're all related. If you have a party of 4 or more, it's tough to beat the whimpy burger at Hip Pocket Deli. It's a $12, 5lb burger with 3 different cheeses. Top-Notch, but not for the faint of heart. read more

I'd heard this was an awesome place for fries cooked in 100% peanut oil. We were looking for a place to eat prior to going to the airport to fly home, so we wanted somewhere within close distance to the airport. Since we'd wanted to try out a 5 Guys, seemed like a good choice. What I really like is that they offer "Little Burgers." It's a smaller version for those of us who don't want a big beef patty. That suits me wonderfully. I had a little hamburger with lettuce, tomatoes, and mustard. First off, they put mustard on BOTH halves of the bun, so super kudos for that! I adore mustard and most places don't put enough on. This one nailed it. The veggie toppings were fresh and good, and plentiful. I like how you order, burgers come plain and you just say what you want on it. Toppings are listed clearly on the menu. Easy and simple. Prices are a bit more than I'd expect. Granted, the food is made fresh and to order, but it's still fast food. Unfortunately, the fries weren't as stellar as I'd hoped. Not bad, but not award winning. Also, not worth their price. I do like the peanut oil concept, though. The place was busy, but they worked efficiently. It's fun to stand there and wait for you food because you can watch them making everything. All the work is done right behind the counter, you see it all. The burger was very good, juicy and topped generously. Fries were fine, nothing special. Worst Five Guys I've ever been to, plain and simple. Let me qualify that statement a bit... I grew up next to the original and have been eating their burgers for 12 years. Having moved to Pensacola, I was VERY excited to have my favorite burger joint open up a location with it's relatively new franchising campaign. I hate to say it, but this location has been a huge disappointment. Their burgers are fine, they pass for what I expect from a Five Guys and they are why this isn't a 1*. It's their fries and their service that are an utter joke. They are severely under-cooked yet I keep going back hoping they'd eventually get it right (such is my dedication). Numerous times I've asked to have them left in the frier longer, cooked more, I even asked them to burn them, only to have my request refused by 16 year old cashiers and know-nothing junior managers. Its usually followed up with a "Five Guys cooks their fries boardwalk style and they are supposed to be soft." ...direct quote, Well to that I say thank you for educating me, but would it be a tragedy to satisfy a customer? Anyway, I guess I'll just add this to the list of things I look forward to when I visit my old home. read more

I think doing Five Guys Reviews is redundant. We have eaten at dozen across the Nation and our experience has always been the same - outstanding! We went to the Pensacola Airport location today, and as usual was not disappointed! My Bride got a single burger without bun and almost every add on you could get. We got the Regular Fry because it is plenty big enough for the two of us. I got the regular (two patty) cheeseburger with A1, and grilled onions. A short 10 min wait, a cheery pleasant but professional staff, and food cooked to perfection! It was an awesome dinner. Great experience! Well done! read more
