Ordered a burger and rib sandwich ..the burger was horrible , no flavor, nothing on it and under cooked...the rib "sandwich " was literally 5 boiled bones with no meat on them just cartilage and no sauce, and 1 slice of bread thrown on top. We had to ask for our drinks and chips..the service is HORRIBLE!!!!!! I had lived in Pensacola for 25 years, and I never went to the infamous Blue Dot. It took me moving away and coming back to visit eight years later in order to finally come. And I instantly regretted all those 25 years of never being here before. It was so good. The building has that iconic look to it. They don't make buildings like that anymore. Stoic, blue, welcoming. You enter and there's just tables everywhere and a counter you walk up to to order. Lots of welcomes echo from the back where everyone was husting and bustling. Blue Dot's key to success has been its simplistic menu. Burgers and ribs and that's pretty much it. So I ordered one of each. Just a simple burger, no fancy fixins. But chocked full of flavor, tasted like it was cooked right on the coals. And a nice steamed bun. Very good. Very worth the price. And then I went a little too far. Not only did I order the ribs, I ordered the whole slab option. Sounds like a good idea at the time. Turned out to be a great idea. Dinosaur ribs in a big pan dowsed with a yummy sauce. No unrendered fat that got in your way, and plenty of tender meat. Bite, dip in the sauce, repeat until done. Overall, place has earned its legendary status. If you live in Pensacola, this is the Seinfeld Soup Nazi of the area. They used to kick people out who asked for cheese on their burger. I mean that literally. A few years ago they posted a funny video about it and then changed their policy to charge you for the cheese, sell you the burger, then kick you out. Very practical if you ask me. Anyway, don't be dumb, just order the single patty original burger as it is meant to be and enjoy. Best burger in the area. Blue Dot is ghetto fabulous. The burgers here are always consistent. The menu is super simple. If it's your first time, just get the Burger, it's what they are known for and it's probably the best thing on the menu. Now to address the ghetto part, they don't seem to care about the hours of operation, you need to make sure to call ahead of time, the voicemail won't let you leave a message. The service is good. I don't know how to describe it. It's fast and you won't know what hit you when they are done serving you. No frills and no BS service. Just left blue dot burger and the girl taking orders was incredibly , unnecessarily rude and short with me as soon as I walked in. I'm not sure what her problem is but when I asked for my drink for the 2nd time she threw my burger in the trash and said bye. Extremely childish and unprofessional. I was nothing but polite to the girl. Apparently it's the owners daughter. If I could've had it my way today I would've had a Bacon egg n Cheese, salt pepper ketchup on a hard roll. Instead, I settled for a burger. My coworkers and I had been talking about this place for months, even met there one time for lunch and it was closed. So today I decided to head back. I got there right as they were opening and already there were people waiting on orders. My order was to go because the coronavirus is not allowing dining areas to be open. My burger came out pretty fast so I decided to eat it in the parking lot. I've seen the pictures on yelp so I was the least bit concerned with the appearance of the burger, I just wanted it to be BOMB! The first bite was the best bite. There was some salt and pepper on the bun that got wrapped into that first bite which added some seasoning. The bites that followed were just ok/good. As I'm eating the burger, I'm sizing it up to my burgers . The burger was a bit dry and under seasoned for my liking. All orders come in a brown paper bag with lots of napkins..(You will need them) The young lady was very courteous and helpful. My order took about 5 minutes and was nice and hot when I took my first bite. I don't like burgers to go..because they will lose some "juicieness" when cooled. Burgers and ribs...with or without a soda and chips. That's the menu and you won't be sorry. The customers were just one after other as I sat and enjoyed the fantastic burger... Just a hole-in-the-wall, sloppy burger and BBQ joint, with a friendly face asking "what ya want?" as soon as you walk in. Definitely the type of place that reminds you that you are in the South! Recommend the BBQ sauce on the burger, and I hope you're OK with sloppy and wet, because this burger is a juicy mess, which is what makes it so good. This is one of those places that when the food runs out you get out because the place is closing. Hamburgers and rib sandwiches and then the rib sandwiches are only sold on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of the month. If you think that is too much you will be wrong because this place has been a staple in the "blocks" area of Pensacola for years. Yeah some of you remember when this area was known as the blocks for late night gatherings. The burgers are simple and I am not sure what the sauce is that they put on it but it needs to be sold in stores. Hint hint. Also the burgers are those handmade burgers the way you would pat them down at home before cooking them. There is no option for ketchup so sneak your own in. It's hard to beat a good dive joint! I tried Blue Dot with my co-workers for the first time a few weeks ago and they were totally on point when they told me how great the burgers are there. These folks have mastered burgers and that's what they sell. No frills, not many choices, just one of the best burgers you'll ever taste. I ordered a double burger with bbq chips. The burger was so big I had to cut it in half to eat it. That never happens to me. I wasn't even sure if I would be able to finish it, but I underestimated myself. The patties were thick and made with real ground beef. Adding and removing toppings isn't a thing there. I had to pick the onion off because they serve it dressed and that's that. That's really not a big deal to me. We called and ordered in advance and took it back to the office to eat. Ordinarily, you would order at the counter. If you prefer to eat there, they do have a few tables and bar stools at the counter. Apparently they sell bbq sometimes, but it's mostly just burgers. This hole in the wall will surprise you. During college I worked downtown and one of my coworkers was in shock when I didn't know what he had in his little brown bag. "You've never had a blue dot burger?!" I tried one that day and if I'm ever visiting Pensacola during a work week I do a drive by to see if it's open. So, it's only open in certain days and for limited hours. but the days that you find Blue Dot open it will be packed. In all the years that I've known of this place I've only seen 2 workers: a little old man who cooks the burgers and a younger man with an Afro with a hat on...very 70s, 80s. Afro man for some reason knows exactly the order you've walked up to the counter. He comes out and passes everyone who came in before you a brown bag and takes their money. He then takes your order by memory. I haven't seen him mess up! You have to know what you want...I think there are only 3 things on the menu and you can't even get cheese. I'm a cheese lover, but the burgers don't need it! I don't eat pork, but I hear the rib sandwiches are good. I get a burger without mayo. So, my burger comes on what I believe to be a perfectly buttered bun, onion, & tomato. This burger is up there with the best burgers I've ever eaten! I don't know what seasoning they use on the meat, but it's fantastic. I do know that you can see the black pepper. I crave this burger! read more

Placed our order - which is pretty simple considering the menu. 5 minutes later I had my brown bag and I understand why people love it. I just get it. It's a burger - and it's pretty much done 1 way. Salt, pepper, mayo, mustard, chopped white onion, tomato. There is no cheese. No lettuce. No pickle. I suppose they would let you leave something out. This is a minimalist kind of burger and it might be better for it. I'm a weirdo that hates tomato on almost all sandwiches. I love the idea of a beautiful slice of tomato - but I always pull them off. This might be the first burger I've ever eaten where I didn't take off the tomato. I will go back. read more
