There are so many good burgers out there that something has to make a place stand out. For Five Guys it's the bag fries. No matter what size of fries you order you get a bunch of bag fries. And it's not like they give them to you for free. A small Cajun fry, which is ridiculously small, is $7. The bag fries make up for that kind of markup. I've been to Five Guys locations that gave so many bag fries that I couldn't finish them and tried to feed them to the squirrels. Park Slope squirrels don't like fries apparently. As far as the burger goes, it's fine. Two patties are more than enough for me. The unlimited toppings are a plus. I was happy to see sautéed onions as an option. But I frankly prefer a smash burger. I'm embarrassed to say that I had never gone into a Five Guys before yesterday. But I did have a gift card and I was in the neighborhood, so I decided to use it. I'll start by saying that if I was paying for it (instead of using a gift card I'd been given), I'd have been upset by the high prices (so one star deducted)). Putting that aside, the food was delicious! I got the smaller bacon cheeseburger and a small order of cajun fries. As others have mentioned, they dump a bunch of fries in the bag no matter what size you order, so you might as well do the small. When the guy handed me my order, he leaned in conspiratorially and asked if I'd ever had the cajun fries with mayo. When I said I hadn't, he handed me a little cup of mayo. Last minute lunch idea. Decided to get some 5 guys. Hadn't done it in a very long while. Thankfully, we ordered online prior to walking out the office to pick it up. As suspected, the store was very busy even though it was 2:45pm. We were called within a minute of our arrival; though, they were still processing our order. All in all, pretty accurate wait time as per what the website said. The main guy behind the counter conducted his seemingly chaotic culinary orchestra with an admirable finesse. The definition of a leader; had his hands busy with just about everything while making sure everyone else kept the orders going. The burgers seemed bigger than I remember them, lol! Definitely not a complaint! I have always felt the burgers at Five Guys are as close to a home made burger as one can get. Following this last experience, I continue to think so. The cajun fries I did not like as much as I once did. Their soda machine did not mix syrup and seltzer well enough. I took on my first set of 5 guys back not so long ago when I was an upperclassman in college. I wasn't ready for it and I still am challenged every time I think I'm ready to take it on since. While there are about a million other jokes I could make with this same vein of humor I'll save you the cringy read and stop here. This is in reality only my second 5 guys' location and this one blows the other out of the water. It might be the friendly service staff in the entire city. You come in for a burger and leave with a whole group of friends. It felt like I was asking a childhood friend to cook me up something special. When the guy asked for my number when I went to check my order I started giving him my phone number until I realized he was talking about the number to my order. I thought we were like that already; I think in a few more visits he will ask for the real thing. Enthusiasm does not mean speed. These guys don't want you to leave quickly because boy does it take long. Don't be worried because entertainment value is extremely high and the wait flies by. Plus they have free peanuts. By the time my food comes, I'm so stuffed with peanuts I usually just take it to go and eat it the next day. I would just order online but I would feel guilty as if they would read my generic name on the order and remember the conversation we had at the register. Just to be safe I always dine in. If I had one suggestion it would be to come here during off hours because if you come during primetime it looks like a middle school parking lot with hundreds of bikes parked outside and UberEats entrepreneurs waiting at the front desk for their number to be called. If the Five Guys franchise visited this location I think it would be boarded up the next day. I asked for a small fry and the guy winked and gave me a whole bag full. I love burgers and 5 guys usually does it really well! I'm original from the MD/DC/VA area so my standard for 5 guys is pretty high. We came in on a lazy Sunday before heading to a bar to watch GoT. I quickly ordered a little cheeseburger with everything except the non grilled items and the ketchup and mayo. Boyfriend ordered the little cheeseburger with everything and a little fries. I had disagreed with the little fries order, knowing that I eat a LOT of fries, but he was stubborn. I asked for the Cajun on the side. My burger was somewhat disappointing, the cheese was a tad dry and sticking to the aluminum foil in a way that only fake cheese can which was a not very appetizing. Other than that it was great. Our fries were not nearly of the quantity I desired, but that's ok. What was not okay was that there was no Cajun mix on the side. I was very disappointed to not have that as I like to control how much seasoning goes on my fries and was looking forward to them. I usually have the best burger here but today the register person must have been new or something because the order was wrong. I repeated myself a few times and he repeated it correctly but it came out wrong and I should have checked the receipt but my glasses were fogged up from my mask and I didn't notice it till I got home and I wouldn't have told them anyways while there because I was social distancing and it's hard to talk through the mask. I hate onions and he had onions plus it was raw when I asked for it well done. Oh well it's a Pandemic I'm just glad to have food and I'll be back. I am not going to go through all the background on Five Guys - you should know the routine by now: fresh burgers, of the 4-5 ounce variety and freshly cut fires from potatoes that arrived that day from some random farm in Idaho. I got a little cheeseburger (one patty) and a little order of fries. The counter staff was cheerful and efficient, blasting through the throng of lunch orders quite quickly. My food was ready in no time, much faster than other locations, however the end product was still very good. The seating area is limited at this location, so don't come here with 10 of your work buddies expecting to all sit together and complain about your boss. I was wandering around with the intention of going to Burger Joint at Le Parker Meridien, but apparently it was a Valentine's Day hotspot because the line in the lobby was insane. I saw there was a five guys nearby so settled on that as I hadn't had it in ages. No line, service was quick and the burger hit the spot. I'm glad they have the little size fry now, it's pretty much sufficient for any normal human being, anything bigger will feed a small to large army. My burger was tasty (by burger, I mean the two separate patties they give you for the regular size, as opposed to one for a mini). I love bacon and cheese on top of meat. I love that there's a nice variety of toppings that they will throw on there for free, grilled mushrooms especially. I like that they have free peanuts. I like the fries. But. My bacon cheeseburger ran me about $8. Fries, another $3. I got a bottle of water ($2), because the shot glass that they call a water cup would mean I'd have to get up and down 5 times while eating. So with tax, lunch was about $15. There was a long wait to order, and a longer wait for the food. All told, we were in Five Guys for about an hour. The ketchup pump ran out, and the staff was too busy to change it. This wouldn't have been a problem if they had put more than a drop of BBQ sauce on my burger. As we waited, our conversation was punctuated (usually midsentence) by constant announcements of which order number was up. If I wanted to pay $15 to eat an hour-long lunch of a bacon cheeseburger and fries, I'd go into a bar or an actual restaurant. (In an ideal world) I would get a thick, juicy, medium-rare burger that would INCLUDE fries. I would be seated the entire time. A waiter would bring me a tall glass of water, refill it at my request, and provide any condiments I might need. And there would be no blaring of numbers over a loudspeaker. This is fast food. Came with my Burger Buddy Heather H to check out the supposed rival of Burger Joint here in Midtown. It was yummy, but ultimately underwhelming. Big and greasy, check. Tons of toppings (including sauteed mushrooms and fried onions!!) for no extra charge, check plus. But it's no contest in terms of taste and flavor of the beef. Burger joint wins hands down. So why four stars? The fries. My God the fries. Hand cut, fried to perfection, and spiced! Some kind of salt, paprika blend of yumminess. And a "regular" size is enough to feed a family of four. I was blown away. $1 is totally worth delivery in the city. Keep that in mind. You can order delivery for $1 added to your total from this location. On our way back the bag got wet but the food was still hot. The estimated time was 9 mins for the food and we walked from 55th to 84th. I was surprised the food was still hot. But. The order was correct everything was good and fresh tasting. Price is a bit more than I pay upstate but. Welcome back to manhattan. I would order from this five guys again. Love it or hate it I had to review Five Guys, I know it's a chain but some times in life you have to make an exception for good burgers. Most foodies like myself have been anticipating the Five Guys Famous Burgers and Fries to open its doors in Manhattan located on 43 W 55th St (between 5th Ave & Avenue Of The Americas). Their "famous" burgers come with one patty called Little Hamburger ($4.25) or 2 patties called Hamburger ($5.75) - genius. All fresh ground beef never frozen (sounds a little familiar) and fries (reg. $2.75) are all fresh cut and fried fresh (also sounding very familiar). What makes Five Guys stand out from other hamburger eateries is that fact that they give you the options of Free topping ranging from Mayo, Relish, Onions, Lettuces, Pickles, Tomatoes, A-1 Sauce, Sauteed Mushrooms...etc. I could go on but that would take all day. So being a CheapAss I had to get my moneys worth, I asked the counter women if it was possible to have all the toppings with my order of little burger, she said that was call "All The Way" - I like the sound of that! One order of "All the Way" for me, and a Cheeseburger (2 patties) with lettuces, tomatoes, jalapeno and ketchup for Kenneth, along side of small fries and coke (free refills). As I waited for our order we grabbed some free peanuts to hold back the hunger, the really nice thing about it was a huge barrel that was just sitting there for the taking. Munching on my nuts I couldn't help but notice all the awards and accolades that the Five Guys have won over the years, which made my expectations a little bit higher then usual. After all the anticipations and expectations my food has arrived, and I got to say - not bad. Ok may it was better than that but I think I might have made a rookie mistake by ordering my burger " All the Way" which made my burger way too cold firstly, and secondly I didn't know what I was eating, most of the flavor came from the relish (which by the way is not my favorite condiment but tolerate). Kenneth hamburger however was warm and tasty with a nice bite of jalapenos, the patties were juicy with a fresh beefy taste, could have like it cooked medium rare but I think their policy is that they cook it well done no matter what. The buns definitely held up to the beef, however I found it to be to sweet and over powering the patty flavor and too dense and doughy which also took away from the burger as a whole. The fries on the other hand, no complaints at all it was the most wonderful fried edible I have ever eaten, hands down the best fries I have eaten in a very long time. The fries comes all the way from Idaho cooked in peanut oil for high heat, comes out slightly crisp with a fluffy and creamy texture, perfect paired with ketchup. RANTS & RAVES: I still prefer the burgers in In and Out but the fries in Five Guys have every one beat and you can't beat free peanuts. Drinks are 2 bucks but the refills are free, also they have kosher hot dogs, and veggies or grilled cheese for those not in the mood for burger. read more

If you really want to eat at Five Guys Famous Burger and Fries, may I suggest that you go for dinner instead of lunch. The wait between the hours of noon and 2pm can be upwards of 30-45 minutes, and though the burgers are worth the wait, it's pretty frustrating to give up your entire lunch hour standing around eating peanuts (which the restaurant provides along the line) while your burger is cooked to order. A regular burger means there is just one beef patty...a large burger means two patties. I do love the fries (a large is definitely large...best to share this order size). They somehow manage to accommodate everyone depending on hunger so they have a mini burger, mini cheeseburger, regular hamburger and regular cheeseburger, and of course veggie burgers. They take the saying "Have it your way" to a whole different level with the choice of toppings you can have on your burger and it is about 20 different choices. I don't even think you get that many choices at the chain pizza restaurants. Now that I work in midtown and not in FiDi anymore, I was looking for a good burger place besides McDonald's because we all know how their burgers are (mediocre at best, but does the job) so I searched burgers on Yelp and to my surprise Five Guys popped up! Checked the location and it was only a few blocks so I had to make a stop here. I've been here a total of 3 times now whenever I crave a burger and they never disappoint. Their fries are always over flowing (they add an extra scoop to your bag in addition to your cup of fries!) and their burgers are always good. I got the "little" burger the last time I went because two patties were too much for me. No lines, simple furnishing, great food. The burgers are wrapped in aluminum foil, the fries portions are huge (you can always find some extra ones in the bag). While you wait you can have some peanuts. The wait shouldn't be that long... In the end you get a burger made of organic beef with any toppings of your choice.
