    Cheeseburger and Large Fries
    CW L.

Well it has been a while since we have been to Five Guys. We stopped at this one in New Braunfels for a last minute lunch. It was pretty busy and the prices for burgers caught me off guard. But we stayed. I ordered the large Bacon cheeseburger, my niece order the small Bacon cheeseburger and the misses got a small cheeseburger. We also ordered a large fry and some drinks. Well almost $50 and a couple of minutes later our order came out. And wow!!! It was great! Delicious burgers and fresh cut fries!! The service was great as well. I will go back. Also you get a ton of fries!!!

    Nice lettuce!

I like 5 guys even though it's way over priced. so every once in a while I'll splurge and buy some. but lately it seems like the quality of food has gone down, pretty much everywhere. I bought a $13 burger last night, it had 3 tiny brown rotten pieces of lettuce and 1 small piece of bacon broken into 3 pieces. it was pathetic, and I think they reduced the size of their beef patties. i got the $7 order of fries too that were a bit undercooked but acceptable I guess. when paying these prices for burger and fries they need to be outstanding or AT;EAST ACCEPTABLE ..... I was a chef for 15 yrs so I fully understand the restaurant and HOSPITALITY industry. now for the employees, when handing me my order I said thank you and smiled, the person did not even acknowledge me, no eye contact, no your welcome or thank you for coming in. very cold and unwelcoming. whoever made the burger looked in the pan of lettuce, saw the rotten brown scraps and thought yes, this is acceptable to serve someone. literally all they had to do is reach in the cooler for a fresh head of lettuce and cut off a couple pieces. there were 5-6 employees standing around, it was slow, it's not like they busy and just trying to keep up. people just don't give a anymore and the customer pays the price. management needs to do a better job paying attention to what their employees are serving people. Stuff like this always makes regret not just eating at home.

We were in the area and craving some good fresh food because during this pandemic it seems most restaurants are serving sub par food at premium prices. Sadly this visit was no different. The burgers were okay, fries good but, the prices had gone up...$32.22 for burgers and fries. I can go next door, Whata size it, spend half as much and get the same quality as I received this time.

The burgers and hot dogs bomb, get it with extra cheese and make sure the cheese is melted. When theyre hot and fresh, this is a 5 star burger. A couple of times ive been here the cheese wasnt melted and the burger wasnt hot, and it wasnt near as good. It is pretty expensive, too. 3 cheeseburgers, a BLT, a hot dog, and 2 shakes comes out to almost $65. Ill keep coming here until the P. Terrys down the road opens up.

    Incredibly tiny overcooked burger

Love this place. The ONLY reason I didn't give 5 stars is their stupidly overpriced fries. Come on, $3.29 for small fries!!!

I had the burger of the month (cool concept) which happened to be the "the tres hombres" which had the perfect kick w/ those fried jalapeños And the bacon was so crispy!!!! Wife had the bacon mushroom swiss burger which was also good cause it had lots of mushrooms + onions. Tots as an option is chef's kiss. We were def impressed w/ this place. Now that tourist season is over, New Braunfels is back on my areas to eat list. We decided that we would try this on a weekday night. We used one of apps for driving directions to get to this place. That turned out to be the only bad thing about this trip. For whatever reason, it took us on a very circuitous route. If I had known that it was located across the street from Pat's Place, I could have driven straight to it. When we finally arrived, I was not sure it was open. Also, signage was poor, so we didn't see it right away. When we did get into the parking lot, parking was easy, and we were able to get next to the entrance. We walked in and were greeted immediately by the young lady behind the counter. She was very friendly, and finding out it was our first time, she explained the entire process for us. Seeing they had Hatch Chili for the Down the Hatch burger, I knew what I had to have (Have you had Hatch Chili on your burger? Once you try it, you will never go back to typical burgers). My wife ordered the classic burger fixed just like she likes it. We also ordered an order of fries. Our food was made fresh and delivered quickly. The lady that brought our food to the table turned out to be the manager, and she was so nice. In fact, she even gave us a free ice cream for dessert:) Our food was piping hot and made just as we ordered. I took one bite and said I'll definitely be coming back. My wife loved her food too. In addition to the burgers being great, I have to say that the fries might have been the best I've ever had. Seriously! They were just crisp enough, hot, fresh, seasoned well, and nongreasy. After finishing our meal, we went to try the ice cream. The young lady working the ice cream stand was so friendly. She explained how they make their own ice cream and wanted us to try as many samples as we wanted. We decided on the salted caramel as it was so good:) She also told us that they had another location in Gruene, and that we should try it when visiting. Will I return? Definitely - the folks were really friendly, the food was great, and the ice cream for dessert was fantastic.

There's tons of room here to move around if you want a quiet place or want to listen to the music. What they need to work on: The food is hit or miss, they do waaaay too many things, they can't keep up with ordering ingredients and are constantly out of certain things. They have a disastrous menu of random billboards and papers taped to walls which feels like a scavenger hunt when you order. The food they brought out tonight was a mixture of cold food and hot food that they informed us was missing a few ingredients so they just gave it to us without them and took 45 minutes to get to us. Music is a hit or miss, the guy we listened to tonight we couldn't understand a word he said while he sang or when he was talking between songs. Overall, come here to drink some good craft beer, gamble at rather the music is tolerable and have plenty of time if you want to order food.

We had plans to get dinner elsewhere. The food was pretty good and fried to the right amount...but our order took over 30 minutes to make. We had to visit the gals at the truck a few times to ask them if our order was done, or if we were forgotten. The sweet gal taking the orders also said that they would bring it out when it was ready, but we waited a solid 30 minutes and decided to ask. I think they just forgot our order of chips and queso and fried pickles. Besides that, the experience was great. Their chips are great (I love the thicker tortilla chips!) and have a more solid crunch to them. The queso is on the lighter and thinner consistency side, which is always a refreshing texture. They definitely use a lighter cheese instead of a dark cheddar, as shown through the color of the queso. It's got a great flavor to it too without having any extra add-ins. A nice traditional queso! The fried pickles were average, but my bf is obsessed with pickles...so that was his impulse buy. Not sure if I would say this is a steady food truck that I would come back to outside of the brewery, but I'm glad it's at Guadalupe! Good choice for snacks and probably their po boys!

And they are always so crispy - I assume they change the fryer oil frequently or they must clean it really well. I have a bone to pick with their chicken fried steak. In the land of great CFS, they shouldn't serve one that had been in the freezer a few moments earlier. In this part of the country, it's hand-breaded or nothing. Having said that, it's not bad, just not as good as it could or should be.
