We arrived early to listen to Escape Plan, the live band playing that evening. It took a few minutes for the waitress to notice us but she was smiling and friendly. I had a Tipsy Blond (named for the Brewery's cat who I saw peeking out the window!) The beer was good and flavorful. I especially like that the menu includes the IBU value for each beer as I prefer beers with little bitterness. After I ordered beer, I flipped the menu over to discover many more cocktail and wine options! We had Rueben's, turkey burger or the regular burger and we all enjoyed the food. My tots were sprinkled with a peppery seasoning that gave them a bit of kick and they were very crispy. I'd suggest them over the fries which were not as crisp. The outdoor seating was cooled by a nice breeze. There is a small indoor bar. I was in town exploring for the first time and I came across this spot! All the beers they had were great and they had a great rounded out choice of beers rather than the usual 5 taps of IPA's. They have a huge outdoor seating area with live music. They have a full bar which is nice if thats your thing. The inside bar was vey small and intimate. Enjoyed some drinks and live music with a group of friends. There were several large groups there celebrating different events. This is definitely a good place to have a get together with a large group. However, there is an intimacy here that is also suitable for a good 'ol date night. So so excited this place is open again!!! I have been patiently (not really) awaiting this place to reopen. Great beer (not at the hotel since their lines are never clean and the taste is off). My favorite meal out of the three we had when staying locally! Im going to focus on the things I ate - the Mac and cheese and ahi tuna. That ahi tuna was the food highlight of my weekend. Ever since COVID, I've been having the hardest time getting quality tuna from restaurants but this dish was perfect. The crunchy slaw added a nice contrast to the to the tuna and sauces. I loved the combination of the multiple sauces. I would drive from San Antonio to new braunfels just to get that tuna appetizer. I've had the Mac and cheese from here before a few years ago. I remembered it being good and it is! It ended up turning into 2 meals, it's a good amount of food. I like the noodle shape they use and the addition of the veggies. First timer - and I really enjoyed it. We started off with pretzel bites with beer cheese, plus chips and salsa. The beer cheese was a little off, but I really liked the pretzel bites! My husband loved the chips and salsa. I ordered a cheeseburger with bacon and guacamole and it was one of the best burgers I have had in NB. I dropped in for a quick lunch while my truck was getting serviced a block away and stayed for two hours. The beer selection and quality were excellent, the Polka Pils was my favorite. The bar has a variety of top shelf bourbon that you rarely see. I had the barnyard burger and fries. It was delicious and huge, I had to box half of it for later. I liked it so much I bought the family and friends on Saturday night. The food was great again and the outdoor area was perfect for listening to the live music and still have conversations. Just an ok experience - nothing too exciting but probably a nice amenity for anyone staying at the (haunted) hotel. I was also pleasantly surprised to see it was a brewery! (We were just told we were going to the Faust Hotel) I had a couple beers that were decent - I liked one better than the other but unfortunately I don't recall which they were. I don't recall what the meal I ordered was called - but it was a bratwurst wrapped in puff pastry. It was something I had never seen before and seemed fun. It was alright - might have just been executed better (the puff pastry wasn't done well). And I never got to get the server's attention for mustard, which would have elevated it. Oh well! Nice place but not much parking. You have to park on the street. The sitting area is nice but hot. Not very much shade. I suggest you bring your own umbrella or arrive early to get one of the few shades spots. The bad was nice but we only stayed for 1 drink because of the lack of shade. The drinks were ok. Besides being a little tough to find, this was a decent spot to stop for lunch! We had initially walked into the hotel, then actually had to go back out through a different door to get to the restaurant. I ordered the shrimp tacos, which I think were a newer feature on the menu as I didn't see it listed on any of the initial pictures. The tacos themselves were fairly good. Definitely better than your typical brewery fare. The chips and salsa on the side I honestly could've done without as they really didn't add anything to it for me. I was really impressed with the service. We had a table of more than 10 people after church and they not only got us seated right away, they also brought food out in a timely manner. We did stagger our orders per the waiter's suggestion since the kitchen is fairly small. We didn't have any beers, but the menu looked impressive and it's definitely on my list to try when we come back. Overall, our experience was great. First and foremost - the brewing company is no longer located at the Faust hotel. It is located nearby at 499 S Castell Ave, New Braunfels, TX 78130. They have a really nice outdoor patio area with large picnic table style seating, indoor seating at the bar, and also indoor seating in the "hangar" right alongside the brewing equipment. Their beer selection/variety is good, and the staff are VERY knowledgeable about what the have on tap. If you are looking for a certain style of beer, ask them and they can probably find one to suit your taste. They will also give free tastes if you are not sure before purchasing one. Been here three times and love this place. What a unique experience. You can feel the ghost energy in the old building. But on to the food. You must get the perogies. I hate onion rings but love their onion strings. Every other item we ordered was delicious. Except for the fries. Boring and incorrectly cooked as compared to the tots. Get the shortcake dessert, you only live once. They have their own brews and guest taps, plus a way better than chain hotel hard alcohol bar. If there's a brewery in town (especially a craft brewery), Imma gonna find it! So...had to at least stop in Faust and try a German style cold one on a recent trip to New Braunfels. Faust brewing is housed inside the historical Faust Hotel (est. 1929); however, the brewery is a little newer - est. 1998. The brewery has two entrances, one on the side and one in the front. The bar area is dimly lit, has an "old" (not to be confused with no upkeep) feeling that is very welcoming, and you can see a few copper brew tanks right in the middle behind glass. Pretty neat. (Note: They stopped brewing beer on-site a few years ago to accommodate the growing demand for their variety of beers - they now brew in a building a couple of blocks away; no tours). After being greeted by a friendly barkeep...what to try, what to try? They will allow you to sample any on drafts - yay! - I chose to go with the signature Faust Golden Ale. Made from Czech Saaz hops and Euro malt, the Ale is crisp with a clean finish. Goes down easy, not too filling, I'm a fan! The hubby said he thoroughly enjoyed his Wheat beer as well. Faust Brewery serves food as well. Perused the menu, but didn't order anything as I had already had dinner. The selections are VERY diverse: Italian Nachos...Soulvaki Skewers...Seared Ahi Tuna...yup, Wings...and more. A guy sitting next to me was having the Mac n Cheese and it looked pretty darn stringy, steaming good! Just sayin'. Next time! Overall: Certainly worth a visit when in New Braunfels.
