Very disappointed. My husband I am sure got food poisoning. The burgers didn't take like they normally do my husband found a hair in his cup and the fries were burned we tried telling a employee that the food wasn't that great this time and she just looked at us like she didn't give to craps what we were saying. I fell in love with Five Guys when I lived in Florida a few years ago. I ate @ Five Guys 2-3 times per week. Now I live in South Bend/Mishawaka , IN and I have had several problems with rudeness, bad attitude and generally poor service at the 2 Five Guys stores in my area. I always ask that my fries be made "well done", when I asked for this last night one of your crew members made the comment "You BETTER make that RIGHT!" loud enough for me to hear it. He said it in a snarky, smart-ass tone like he did not approve of my request- I'm sorry, I'm the customer, I'm the one spending $11 dollars for a hamburger and fries, I think I should be able to get it the way I want! The crew member was a White kid with a long ponytail and a beard (which by the way, was not covered in any way for food sanitation). This snarky, un-called for comment set a bad tone for my meal. I was psyched to finally try this place after hearing about it from friends for a long time. What a disappointment. The burgers are NOT cooked to order. It was super slow. The employees were energetic and seemed proud to work there - always a great sign. But, my burger was way overcooked with not a drop of moisture anywhere to be found. The beef was completely devoid of taste. I took it back and related that I expected a somewhat juicy burger and they readily agreed to try again. Good. Then I got back almost the identical problem. How? There were maybe 2 other customers at that time. Unreal. I am told they just started offering a smaller fry, which is what I ordered. They are a bit thicker than typical fast food fries with the skin on. Very tasty. A lot of potato flavor. The cup was very small, but as they always do, they just throw in extra free-standing fries in the bag. Altogether, it seemed like getting a large fry at McDs or Wendys. Not outlandish by any means. I love the single-spout Coke dispenser with dozens of options. However, if it is busy, customers can be a pain as they experiment. The price is ridiculous. $13 for a burger, small fry and drink. This place is a joke! Peanut shells all over the floor. Very unsanitary! The cooking oil bags and sacks of potatoes are in the center of the restaurant! Maggots on the floor! Went to five guys for the 1st time last night. I have not been there because I had a pre conceived notion that it was going to be an over priced burger. Well the prices were not as bad as I had thought they would be . I loved that the toppings were free and they included grilled onions and mushrooms! My hubby and I stayed there to eat which was the part I disliked the most. Since this restaurant is located in a restaurant area you would think it would be geared towards having people stay and eat. The Burger comes wrapped in foil. I opened it and it was a huge burger. the cheese however was not melted yet. When I took one bite the whole thing fell apart, not good. I ended up eating it with a fork which is not how I want to eat a burger. The music was extra loud I got annoyed trying to yell conversation to my husband. I would eat there again but probably only once a year. read more

Five Guys has always been one of my favorites. I was so glad when they opened in Mishawaka a few years ago because I missed the delicious burgers and fries from my days living in Northern Virginia. They are such good members of the community as well! They hosted our 12U Softball Team, Harris Heat Inferno, for a fundraiser a few weeks ago. It was very easy to set up and we raised quite a bit of funds for the team. Highly Recommended! read more

This is a very small place with a very simple menu - burgers and fries and let me tell you when you get an order of FRIES you get a HUGE order of fries! You get the choice of single burger or a double and then pick the cheese and other toppings which are included with the cost of the burger which was a nice bonus any where else they charge you an arm and a leg for toppings. Back to the fries they put the order in a bag and so when I went to get my order - I literally stopped in my tracks and yelled HOLY CRAP this a a HUGE order of fries. Now when I am bad and eat french fries - freshly made thick cut fries are my joy of joys. I looked at my friend with shock at the amount of fries. A few days later I was talking with other friends and they were shocked that I ate every single heart attacking causing fry but with a greasy grin of joy. I normally his place is on point and I love it, but maybe they're running a new crew today. After I paid, I notice that the cashier rung up a little cheeseburger and not the double patty I had been dreaming about all morning. I asked if I could pay the difference since it had not yet been made. She said she would take care of it if I threw some cash in the tip jar. I only had my card and bummed some cash from my father. I threw $3 in, not knowing how much with tax the difference was. We got our burgers and the large fry we ordered wasn't included. Looked at the receipt, it wasn't on there. And so I went back up to the cashier to order a large Cajun fry. She asks "Another one?" No... The one we ordered was never rang up. She spends another minute or so checking my receipt and said, "I remember you ordered", yea... I know... so I paid another $5 something and waited for fries. Five stars for Five Guys! I eat at this Five Guys at least twice a month. The staff is always helpful and in good spirits. The food here is outstanding. If you're scared to try the Cajun fries ask for a side of seasoning and shake it up in your bag with the overflow fries they throw in. Just be careful. A little goes a long way. I LOVE to get the little bacon cheeseburger wrapped in lettuce instead of on a bun. It's messy but oh so good! Have fun with the soda machine. I like Coke with Vanilla (although I will admit this soda machine area stinks sometimes. Which makes me wonder if they are cleaning it properly?) I would give it 4 stars for this reason, but I'm just such a fan of the food and the fun that the staff creates around the experience that I can't make myself do it. Lol! Definitely recommend it. Good burgers; awesome fries! They are a little more pricey than your average burger joint, but they compensate you in quantity and quality of food. The menu is a bit confusing for a newbie, but the cashier was very helpful and explained how everything worked. Think of it like a Subway, but with burgers instead. Be prepared to get a TON of fries - order the smallest portion if you are eating alone. The regular will easily feed 2+ people. read more
