I'm a Door Dasher and take my job seriously. I went into the Idaho Falls, ID branch to pick up a fairly large order. It had 37 items. A company was ordering food for their employees who were out shoveling snow for 9 hours already. I went into the store and asked for a small bag to put a lot napkins in. I didn't want some napkins in with the yummy greasy fries. The young guy said no I couldn't have the small bag because he was going to put the napkins in with food. So I grabbed a large bag that was on a hook, right against the counter. Arm reach away. The guy starting telling me to put it back. I told him I wanted to talk to a manager and he said he was the manager. I said he couldn't be and he said " hey hun, look at my collar". I said don't call me hun. I said do you always talk to customers like this? He said that I was not a customer, just a driver. While a sweet lady gave me my order, I asked her for his name and she gave it to me. I was being very professional. I left with the order. I did make a complaint and just got an email from the district manager and thus is what it said: I am the district manager for South East Idaho's 5 guys. I have reviewed the complaint as well as spoken with my team about the interaction that occurred on Saturday. Five guys have a very strict policy about food or people coming back over our counters. This protects our customers from food borne illness or contamination as well as protects our brand. It is 100% unacceptable for a customer or delivery driver of our customers to reach back into our kitchen. Sage's frustration was caused by him telling you that the napkins were in the bags and you breaking our policy. It is our job to make sure contamination is not introduced into our kitchens and I feel his frustrations are valid. I am working with corporate and door dash to make sure all delivery drivers of our customers know that if our policy is broken then the drivers will be held accountable and banned from our stores. As we believe our customers and employees safety is number one. I hope you understand that you are not allowed to deliver food for any of the 5 guys in Idaho any longer as you breached boundaries and broke our policy. Covid cutbacks? Fries were tiny like they were the bottom of the bag, not even filled to the top, soggy, and they didn't load the bag with fries like they usually do. Plus, we got about 1/3 cup full of fry sau e and so much seasoning on the fries they were inedible. Chocolate malt had a drip of chocolate. No whipped cream or anything on top of the shakes. First time ever ordering ahead via their app; what a mistake. Tried to pay with a gift card, knowing it would not cover the total amount, when I entered a second gift card to cover the balance, the total amount was debited from the second card. Now I have two cards, neither of which will cover a new order. Lazy app programmers. When I arrived to pick up my order, they started cooking the fries then saying "company policy so the fries are fresh". What they don't tell you is that your burgers were cooked 10 minutes earlier and sealed in foil getting soggy. The buns were wet when we opened them to eat. I understand wanting to serve fresh fries, but when the burger suffers because of it, what is the point? Even after ordering my fries extra-crispy, the employee dumped those crispy ones in with the old single-cooked fries before portioning them into my cup. This will be my first and last time ordering ahead, with or without the app. I will wait to order when I arrive so the burgers and fries are cooked simultaneously. Also I can make them use up a partial gift card before giving them the new unused card. It I could rate less I would. Just went in to pick up my DoorDash order that I made and I was just trying to get my food and go. I was wearing an In-N-Out shirt from a Cali store and I was haggled pretty good by three of the employees. Did not come across as a joke. Called to let the management know how I felt about the event, he backed up the employees and his tone of voice sounded like he didn't care about how I was feeling and that's not right. The customer is always right in food service even when you don't think so. I know cause I worked at Panera and they taught great customer service. The excuse that this is "good for Idaho Falls' wears on my foodie soul. I was not at all impressed by these burgers. They were pretty flavorless and expensive. There is nothing I despise more than that combination. Five Guys does work with a local ingredient: the potato (surprising, I know because I never find potatoes in Idaho), which is a loose plus but is then destroyed by the fact they give out way too many paper napkins and paper bags (even if you are eating in). You do get to choose your toppings, so I went with mushrooms, onions and lettuce. The onions were diced into cubes and didn't really want to stay on the burger. Also, I don't think the massive amount of grease covering all my food really helped to keep any of my toppings on the bun. If you equate greasy, flavorless, expensive burgers, served in atmosphere of echo noises and decor involving quotations of how "awesome they are", then this is the total place for you to get your burger on. As for me, I'd rather hit Chili's so I can get my tasty burger and beer on, for less green and way more flavor. read more

I visited Five Guys when I was in town visiting the in-laws. I saw the name around Boise and we thought about stopping in while we were there, but weren't sure. My husband's family recommended it, so I drove on down. Fast service, energetic employees. Fairly clean lobby, clean bathrooms. The burger was crispy, with a fresh, warm bun and it tasted fantastic. The fries are from potatoes grown around the "area," if all of Idaho and Montana are "the area." They're fried in peanut oil, so it gives them a bit of a different taste. I hope their price drops a little bit, it's kind of spendy for my tastes, especially with out waiter service and such. Still amazing food though, a must eat stop when we visit the family. read more

I never heard of, or tried, a Five Guys until after moving to Idaho Falls. I'm so glad those days are behind me. While I don't go often, for fear of a high-cholesterol induced heart attack, I absolutely love their burgers and fries. We've probably visited between 5 and 10 times over the last four years and never had a bad meal. We always get our food to go, so I really cant speak to in-house dining or the bathrooms, etc. But the burgers and fries, oh man, they are delicious. We're Gulf Coast folk who got here after eight years in Santa Fe, NM, (green chile burger country). We had never heard of the Five Guys chain the first time we went in and we thought, the ego walls might be a little much. They're not. The meat is always hot and juicy, the fresh cut fries are, well, almost magical. Even the soft buns are worthy of a remark. I go often for lunch or take-out for dinner for us both and carry a picture of their list of burger adds in my phone for strategic planning. Large or small for me depends on which toppings I decide on that day. If they'd adopt a Hatch Green Chile choice, I wouldn't miss Northern New Mexican food so much. My wife always gets her burger the same way, so the text from me to her on many evenings is simply "Five Guys?" and a return of thumb up almost every time makes my life simpler.. and happier. They are our #1 go-to hamburger and fries place in Idaho Falls. The beaver-busy staff always entertains me while I wait for my order, almost like watching Japanese Tepan Yaki cooks. They've been efficient and friendly every time I've been in, although we must eat later than most people because the line is almost never more than three or four deep when I arrive hungry. I'm happy to read in other reviews that they've got plenty of business; I'd miss them if they faded away. And get a shake, any flavor, and you'll be a happy camper. read more

Blah. My burger was like a really bad gas station burger slammed together in about 5 seconds. Tasteless and greasy with ingredients all over the place. The fryer was not nearly hot enough as my fries were sopping wet with grease and undercooked. All this for double the cost of a really good burger elsewhere in town. Simply the best hamburger I've eating that I didn't make myself. Many burger joints have thin hamburgers that are a bit bland, most dinners I've tried serve a thicker burger that is always dry and tasteless without plenty if ketchup (I'm not supposed to name them, i think). But this place has a reasonably thick moist hamburger that taste good plain (not an easy task), but really shines when you get it "all the way." i rarely give a 5 star, but this place really deserves it read more

People complaining about the ambient are ridiculous. Get over it. Five guys has taken the country by storm that says something about their business model. Whatever they're doing is working and that includes the ambient of leaving peanuts and potatoes out in the open. I don't agree with people saying the burgers aren't tasty. Frankly I just don't think people are used to a burger that doesn't have loads of food additives and preservatives like those found typically in fast food chains. This is what burgers taste like when they contain natural ingredients people. Secondly to the dude who complained about the employees yelling "four at the door" when you walked in with your family, you are one of the most supercritical individuals I've seen on yelp. Who gives a flying crap if they yell a little jingle at the door when you walk in. It's the same reason that Cafe Rio screams, "free meal" when someone gets a free meal for filling up their Cafe Rio card. It's called branding you tard cart. They are developing an image and as I mentioned earlier they appear to be doing an extremely good job at it based on their growth, but I digress. The food is great. The burgers are phenomenal. Just ate at Five Guys Burgers, the burgers were raw in the middle so I didn't eat it but I did drink the milk shake. I now wish I didn't, I got so violently ill with food poisoning, I was sick for 2 days. I will never eat there again. 6/13/2020: Wife and I walked into this location for lunch, being that we had never tired this restaurant. First step was met with noise, loud music, and not a relaxing environment. Wife ordered a 'burger' with small extra crispy fries (i.e., well cooked). Upon receipt, was a coffee cup of half-cooked, mushy, french fry kernels or (semblance there of). Something that looked like they were 'pieces' swept up off the floor and 'cupped'. She took the cup to the pick-up counter where the male 'clerk' yelled so loud at her, indicating he could not hear her! This was so loud, over the noise, that the entire restaurant stopped, looked and wondered what the commotion was! She explained to him, that she had wanted them (extra crispy). He crabbed them from her and told the fry cooker. This was very embarrassing for my wife, and if we hadn't had our order, would have immediately left. We are now retired, and both military veterans. She was an Army teletype operator during the Vietnam War, and myself a combat radio operator in Vietnam, I-Corp area. These are both communications skilled MOS positions, and feel we know how to communicate very well. Our communications to this facility is to express our complete lack of interest to ever visit this facility again. On top of that, the fries are small piece of junk kernels that are cupped out, 1/2 cooked, mush in your mouth! We should have visited the 'Cafe Rio' next door.
