A Single Cheesburger
Jameson J.

Great place for a late night snack. This place gets crowded after 2 am on a Saturday its a like a club after the club. The wait to make your order is not bad but the time to get your order was downright slow. The burgers are good, excellent filling size and not little micro burgers. I like the Cajun fries too. The barhroom at this time 2am is like the bathroom at the club very much in disarray, nevertheless it serves its purpose im sure thsy have everyone on staff serving the customers due to all the people. Next time I go back it will be during the day.

I was beyond stoked for a Five Guys in Detroit. Really? A late night NON-coney establishment in the city of Detroit? Pfft. Whatever, it'll never happen. Just like the "fatburger" establishment that was supposed to open on the ground floor of Studio One apartments never happened. ZOMG. But Five Guys made it! AND IT IS GOOD! It's huge. It's CLEAN, like REALLY clean. The food is GOOD. They are open LATE. They make you tasties! Their fries are amazing! Downside of the Detroit establishment: - why does it take so freaking long to place an order? Order comes up fine, but srsly. If there's 3 people on the cashier -- let's go people! I AM HUNGRY AND YOU ARE THE ONLY THING BETWEEN ME AND MY BURGER!!! - they serve beer. You'd think this was going to be a perk -- but you are wrong. They serve (expectedly) shitty beer. But not just that -- beer that tries to get passed off as "unique" and a "microbrew" such as shock top. *cough* Anyway. They got your normal bud and bud light too. - honestly? that's it. FYI 1 regular fries = TWO scoops of fries in a bag = enough for 2 people 1 cheeseburger = TWO patties 1 minicheese = ONE patty if you have peanut allergies stay FAR FAR AWAY you get free peanuts just for waiting, they are delicious no topping is extra (except bacon) they have vegetarian versions of stuff their french fries are fried in peanut oil (and trust me, for the non-allergic out there -- this is the BEST way to fry fries) you can get a huge TUB of ketchup (also - the BEST WAY to eat fries! love it!) My favorite burger that just hits the spot: Cheeseburger with grilled mushrooms, grilled onions, pickles, ketchup, mustard This place makes me happy that it's now in Detroit... but also my doctor unhappy as my cholesterol just increased thinking that this mouth watering place is just a few minutes from me.... *drool puddle* BTW - I use the Greektown casino /hotel garage to get food here. Because it's free and street parking is such a pain in the butt around here. Just a short 2 block walk.

Regular Fries

I was almost sick of hearing about 5 Guys OR being asked if I have ever gone there and if it was good. Thanks to a group of impatient, most unhealthy guys, we stopped in on our way out of the Greektown casino. I was a big fan of my burger(regular bacon cheese). A note to newcomers, a regular burger has 2 patties, and a "little" burger is a single. There were a plethora of toppings for my choosing as well which I like. I hate when places act like less is more....NO, on a burger, more is more. More bacon, more cheese, more meat, more tomatoes, more pickles etc. As a side note I'm a huge Checkers fan, and I got some similar Big Buford style taste with my burger. I will say this about the order of fries, it was large. They basically fill up a big cup, then pile more on top of that inside your bag. It is probably too much for one normal person to take down alone. If you were to stop in with another person I think splitting an order would be good. As far as the taste...just meh for me. I much prefer Checkers fries but 5 Guys weren't bad. In the end, I got a burger, fries, and a drink and I think my bill was around $12. Seemed a little high for semi-fast food....although a buddy did mention the prices were a little inflated compared to the location he visited previously. I'll chalk that up to the fact that this 5 Guys is downtown and attached to the casino.

Stopping in for a bite at what I thought to be a quick-serve establishment , I was pleasantly surprised with the service and quality of food at Five Guys. My cheeseburger was made-to-order in front of me, served up all the way, hot, juicy, full of flavor and a big delicious mess. My "regular" order of Cajun fries was large enough to easily satisfy two people. The only downside is how noisy it was inside with the workers yelling back and forth to each other, but I suppose that's what you get during the lunch hour. I am most certainly going to make Five Guys my go-to-burger joint whenever I'm in the city.

Burger and Cajun Fries

This review encompasses 2 visits within a 1 month period, 1st visit was on Dec 22, 2010.... 1st visit I got the Hamburger with onions and mushrooms along with an order of Cajun Fries and a large coke. All was fresh, nicely spiced and quick. We got there around 11:20am and was out by 11:50am... The 2nd visit was today and I got exactly the same thing minus the Coke. We got there at 11:05am and left at 11:50am. The fries we over spiced (I like alot of spice, but this was ridiculous ). Needless to say, the fries tasted like Cajun seasoning only. The Burger was ok at best. This time we waited about 15minutes to get our order. So I had to drop it from a 4 star first visit to a 3 star combined....

Absolutely the worst Five Guys I have been to. It takes an hour to get food, even when the dining room is only 1/3 full. Tables are disgusting with dried ketchup and and sticky!

My buddy and eat at five guys all the time. Five guys is fast food done really really well. Plus everything is fresh the fries are great I love their Cajun fries. I normally get the bacon double cheeseburger with jalapeños peppers on it i like a little spice. The great thing about five guys as you can literally have you burger anywhere you want it they have all different type of combinations and ingredients that you can put on it. So try something different.

Burgers are always good. It's a shame that security on a Saturday night act like bouncers at a bar.

Eaten here twice when they first opened and both times got severe stomach pains right after. Never went back.

Mom's Spaghetti got a lot of hype for obvious Detroit culture. The reviews seemed really good so when in Rome- we stopped. No line on a Friday afternoon, they have a basic menu; spaghetti with or without meatballs and a spaghetti sandwich. On average you're looking at $12 for a meal. Here's the thing, it's basic pasta and sauce from a plastic container- that's it. Limited flavor and honestly the nostalgia wears off almost instantly. I would also argue that the entire experience was a let down because I was looking for that connection to the city and well the hype. Instead I had a take out container of less than decent Ragu. I have no idea why this place is rated so high. It's not the food quality, it's not the ambiance, it's not the price... it's honestly so puzzling. If I can prevent one person for taking the chance and wondering "how bad could it be" I will have done my job. If you're like me and going to say you went, lower your expectations.

Something I've never seen before. The restaurant was a bit busy and seating was limited so we had to wait for a seat. It was worth it, trust me. After a little wait, they called my name and my food was ready. I started with the waffle fries. They were delicious. I really enjoyed them. The buffalo chicken however, stole the show. It was crunchy, hot and juicy at the same time. I am glad I grab them! I watched the supervisor walking around whipping down tables. I thought, she definitely takes pride in her business. It made me appreciate the business more seeing that. Last I had a little room so I tried the burger. Again, Mister Dips don't miss! The burger was juicy and cooked perfectly. They have alcohol if you're interested. I myself enjoyed their selection of Boylan soda drinks. This place has it all. I have to come back. Just enjoying the customer service was enough to get me in. I wonder if they can get American cheese for my next visit.

It has perfect density, is well-seasoned, and is easily 15% better than a Five Guys patty. The Toppings: The lack of customization is frustrating. No extra options or toppings are allowed. It comes with American cheese, shredded iceberg lettuce (not a fan), and way too much sauce. The sauce itself is okay, but the burger was drowning in it. The Fries: Good firmness, they definitely hold their shape better than Five Guys but Five Guys' Cajun fries still win on flavor. The Value: I paid about $20 for a burger, fries, and a tip. It feels expensive, but with Five Guys at $18 and a McDonald's Big Arch meal at $14 these days, the price is fairly standard for the current market.

They aren't small fyi - one is the size of a medium to large at McDonald's. We regretted it immediately once we saw them. A suggestion to the restaurant - please ask which sauce we would prefer. My first time here and I had no idea it was served with a special sauce instead of ketchup. Their sauce was super sweet, I didn't prefer it. Both sandwiches were good. VERY messy and hard to eat. The relish/pickles were sweet. The bottom bun on the chicken sandwich was soggy. For dining in, it took awhile to receive our food when we were one of the few ones waiting. They seem to heavily do take out vs dine in so their focus seemed more on getting through their orders than service to those dining in.
