I finally came here to see what the hype was all about. I knew I was going to be let down since the hype machine was in full effect and all the stories I've heard about it was that it was OK. I was free this Friday night so i figured it was close enough and I wanted to make that decision for myself. Very typical burger joint feel like an In N Out or Johnny Rocket's. I ended up ordering a regular hamburger for around 5 something. One burger is the same cost as an In N out meal? Ouch. I got a double patty burger with fries and it came out to roughly 9 bucks including tax. Not that bad, but not the bargain that is In N Out. The wait wasn't that horrible and the place wasn't as crowded as I imagined it would be on a Friday night. The double patty burger was filling enough, which is a plus over eating at In N Out, where it always seems like I am still hungry. It definitely wasn't a bad burger and the stuff they put in it (mushrooms, etc.) is a nice touch, but it wasn't anything special. I rather have a Nation's burger instead or go to In N Out. The price of the burger isn't justified, i wasn't blown away and the food was just OK. The overall experience was cool, workers seem friendly here but don't go out of your way to come here. In N Out is a better value. The food is just OK, not bad but not that great. read more

I'm sure everyone who comes here compares this to In n Out so I'll start with that. Unfortunately, it doesn't meet the standards for me. Even with all the toppings that you can select from, it is still another burger that isn't as good as in n out. One of the reason is I'm a big fan of animal style. Secondly, the patty itself just isn't as flavorful. Thirdly, Five Guys is waaaaay greasier- and you can see it on the brown paper bag they give you- so it makes you feel worse. To be fair, and this will be my disclaimer, a friend mentioned that she thinks ppl bias towards in n out if that is what you grew up with. Those who grew up with Five Guys prefer that over in n out. I was introduced to in n out first. As for Five Guys review just purely based on burgers wise, it isn't bad. I was by no means blown away but it doesn't disappoint (again, not comparing to in n out). The patty is juicy and the bread is super soft. The variety of condiments to choose from lets you customize it to what you like. The fries are pretty basic; very greasy but I do appreciate that they have cajun fries for when you want a bit of a kick to it. Above all, the main attraction of this place is their unlimited flavors Coke family soda machine. It's fun trying all of it and seeing flavors you didn't even know exist. read more

Great service and the workers seem to enjoy what they are doing. Full of fun and energy! The staff members are loud (in a good way) and always excited when people enters the door. Not many fast food joints will have this type of attitude and customer service, absolutely a rare find. The manager (some young buck) saw me busy with my phone and took the liberty of taking my order to my table. "I saw you busy, so I didn't want you to get up." That was definitely a great gesture and something that customers like myself truly appreciates. read more

Slow! Slow! Slow! I am a regular customer of 5 guys and never really had a bad experience till tonight. The staff (with the exception of the cashier who was a middle age woman) was too busy jaw jacking instead of working. I waited over 20 min for my order. Meanwhile customers who ordered after me were getting served. At one point a man came in walked directly to the pick up counter gave a employee a bro hug and then the employee asked him if he wanted anything to eat. He then took the guys order and gave him his food at no charge. I'm not sure who the manager of this location is but I think some of your team members need some more training when it comes to customer service. read more

Solid burger but for a slightly steep price. I like Five Guys because you can customize your burger any way you want for free (well, it's included in the base price, so take advantage and get as many toppings as you can!). I got my burger with grilled onions and grilled mushrooms - a couple of my favorite toppings for a burger. My friend and I split a bag of cajun fries - an order of fries is whatever they fit in the fry box, PLUS another scoop of fries directly into the bag. Definitely something to be shared because you get A LOT of it. Loved the seasoning, and I loved playing with their soda fountain machine - it looks all futuristic and is pretty cool. Can I get an order of Cajun fries with a side of burger? 5 stars for the Cajun fries!!! They're so good. I love how the fries are skin on and it's well seasoned. The cheeseburger was hefty with 2 patties. I went with the little burger (one patty) the second time around and that was just right amount where you're satisfied, but still have room for fries. I didn't care too much for the cheese in the cheeseburger. It's your basic sliced American cheese and both times, it was not melted enough. Give me real cheese! There's tons of hype around this place. I think it probably revolves around the free toppings for the burgers. Burgers? Fine, but they are missing that special something that would have me craving it. Burgers come with two patties, order a Little Burger if you want one patty. Fries? I've had the cajun fries and the the regular fries. They give you a heaping cup of it. Whatever seasonings they put on it (be it non spicy cajun, or tons of salt), it does not mix well with the super vinegary ketchup. Free peanuts? Nice, but no thanks. I don't like grabbing free food from where others have put their hands. Drinks? Awesome mindboggling amount of choices! I can spend 15 minutes here just going through the selection. If you're feeling adventurous you can try the raspberry coke (which tastes like cough syrup). Choose wisely! Staff? Very nice. Overall experience? Kinda meh for me, but give it a shot. My friends have been raving about this place for months. I finally broke down at gave it a try since there is one close to my work. My initial impression was that it felt alot like an In N Out when it came to the look and feel...That is where the comparisons stop. Of course you are getting burgers and fries but it is completely different. There are many more options. From Jalapenos on your burger to Cajun seasoning on your fries. It has a completely different taste to your other burger places.....in a good way! Even the soda machines are cool and futuristic! The only reason i am not giving this place 5 stars is b/c i do not have the craving like i do for a double double. This place is pretty good. I would take it over in and out because of the free toppings selection. I get the baby burger and share an order of fries with my husband and I'm stuffed. The drink machine is pretty neat, but it will lose it's luster after two visits. I'm still dying to try the spicy fries so I have a trip to five guys in my future. Went here today with some buddies and really enjoyed the food and atmosphere. This place is kind of like In N Out but with better burgers and MUCH better fries. Quite a large assortment of fountain drinks. Pricier than regular fast food if you want an entire meal of burger, fries and drink since you order them all separately but cheaper than a sit down place like Red Robin. Really good fresh burgers. Kind of small in size when looking at it but there are 2 meat patties for regular sized burgers so that fills you up along with the fries. Also tried half a hot dog from my bro. Not as good. Food came out shortly after I decided which drink to choose from their machine and got ketchup. As a plus, there seems to be quite a lot of street parking outside as well as a parking lot in the back (mostly for the Safeway back there). I think I will come here more whenever I want that "in-between" burger experience. read more

This Five Guys location is in a really nice part of Burlingame's downtown. I wasn't even aware it was here until my girlfriend used Yelp to find it. It's a chain restaurant, so there's really not much I can say about it that you don't know already. The location suffers from a general lack of parking, I would say, but aside from that, the service seems to be good. They also have the super awesome soda machines which are native to most Five Guys locations. So that's a plus. read more

This is officially the No.1 Fastfood burger for me.... 5 star specifically for Service....I did a food run at work and ordered online, when I came to pick it up, the guy (who I failed to ask for the name) hollered my name. "Malou! your order will be done next."...Wow! and yes there was a queue, maybe because I am the only one who ordered online... This isn't the first time I've been here, but it always seems like it. Every time the food does not fail to amaze me. Their burgers are absolutely mouth-watering, and they are customizable as well. I love their fries too, but they're a bit too oily for me. Be sure to try all of their items, including their hot dogs. Five Guys is the best! read more

I'm pretty sure we've made our last visit to this Five Guys. It took 30 minutes for us to get our food last night -- even checking with them politely three times and being told it was coming soon. It's not as though they were busy. There were maybe six or seven customers inside who already had their food, and there was nobody in front of us when we ordered. The restaurant was incredibly dirty, just a disaster. There was spilled ketchup all over the counter near the ketchup dispensers, no condiment cups, peanut shells covering the floor -- and I mean ALL over the floor -- and the tables looked filthy, with other people's trash left behind. I wish we had left before we ordered; I don't know why we didn't. When we finally did get our order, there were no vegetables (lettuce, tomatoes, onions, etc.) on either of the burgers. Plus, the music was so dang loud, it was painful to be inside. We ate outside, where it was cold but at least not as dirty as inside the restaurant (let that sink in for a minute). The music was still blasting too loud from the outdoor speaker. What has happened to this place? Why are they still here in Burlingame if they are actively trying to chase their customers away? read more

Weird cashier stared at the wall as if not to acknowledge our existence. He asked what we wanted and then approached the register and asked the question again. He looked oblivious to what we had asked him. Anyway, we got our order and went home because I sure was not going to eat in a place run by young looking fools considering the establishment was sticky and gross looking all over. When I got home, I opened my burger to find it didn't have bacon on it. I had requested a little bacon burger with {{{bacon}}} bracketed as shown. I don't know how you could have missed the bacon... Also, the patty was really dry. Tasted like Burger Kings patties... The person cooking my food had red shot eyes... I'm not sure if the employees were on drugs or what? I am never coming back and would recommend anyone else to stay away from this location. read more

I had heard people raving about how great Five Guys is before it came to Burlingame, so I had to check out what the big deal was. My first time here the person taking my order did not explain to me the menu system, charging me the most expensive burger and largest fries. I probably could have taken the time to examine the menu but the place was crowded and I was in a hurry. Luckily the second time I came in the girl taking my order took the time to explain the menu. I like that your burger starts off plain and you customize it from there without any extra charge and bonus points that BBQ sauce is actually an option. The menu is very basic and I was never much of a "combo" person so that did not bother me that there were no combos. The place is crowded and chaotic after 3pm, or whenever Burlingame High School lets out. There is not a lot of space, especially for the line where you place your order. A suggestion would be to get rid of the pallets of peanuts in the middle of the floor. Not sure why they have peanuts as an option but if you are going to eat a 1000 calorie burger, do you want to fill up on peanuts before hand? The service is okay. Even with a large staff the burger assembly line still runs a tad slow and I see a lot of socializing behind the counter as well as with people in the dining area while burgers sit on the counter in limbo. Burgers and Fries are better than In & Out, I will give them that but the cramped quarters make this place inconvenient. Too bad there is not a drive-thru, otherwise I would bump it up to four stars. Overall this is probably the burger place that Burlingame Avenue needs and will more than likely put "The Burger Joint" down the street out of business. read more

I've been to 5 guys a couple of times and feel like there are better burger places out there but this place beats most fast food. I've learned to get regular fries with the Cajun seasoning on the side. This location specifically have the crazy touch screen soda dispenser which takes people more time to choose their beverage and can cause lines...just for pop! One of these days I'll order online because it seems the way to go during the busy hours so you dont have to deal with lines...but I guess you can enjoy the free peanuts while you wait :) I try to remind myself to not get carried away with the sauces to avoid soggy buns but it never works! read more

I am a big time Burger connoisseur and a good burger joint is my thing. I had Five Guys for the 1st time last year during my trip to Miami Beach at around 3:30am after rolling out of the club. I didn't remember too much of that night but I did vaguely remember that the burger was legit. So glad they opened in the west coast... I went today for the 2nd time and It was superb. The flavors of the burger where right on... the Fries are natural cut and tasty. .. I love that they have cherry flavored Mr. Pibb and Coke. And the roasted peanuts is just a +... I lean towards these burgers over In-N-Outs. Just wish this place had a drive through. Use to go to the Fremont one regular with my bro when we have school out their. Very impressed! I am a fan of a simple menu - a business staying true to the core business... if they start offering chicken fingers, salads, and yogurt smoothies - I'm out! They have the calories posted on the board, generous portions on the fries, and am a sucker for technology so love the soda machine too! It is a noisy and high energy place - so don't take your grandparents here or you'll hear about it for months! Have been a few times and will certainly be back. Friendly employees is definitely a plus when you go in. Sometimes you might have to wait up to about 30minutes in line/get food when there is a rush but other than that everything is fresh off the grill! I love that they have small sizes and large sizes for the burgers as well as so many different toppings you can add for FREE! No where else offers that at all! Especially fast food places :) Their cajun fries are my favorite! When you order any size, it's basically double of what you order because they throw in another huge scoop into the bag. Haven't tried their hot dogs yet but I will eventually. Milkshakes here are pretty good too and they have a soda machine with over 100 flavors/types of sodas just like Wingstop! Parking can be difficult sometimes here, there is street and lot parking but street is metered and lot is always full. They also have online orders which you can order first and then go pick up to save you some time. read more

I've always have fun and great service at the 5 Guys in my neighbourhood. On one visit, I commented on how cool their soda machines are. Then one of the guys gave me the whole story. If you haven't gone to 5 Guys yet, it's worth it just to operate the soda machine! Food's good, too. And no matter what time of day I've gone, there's ALWAYS 5 Guys behind the counter. On another visit, I left my wallet on top of the napkin dispenser. It was near closing time. By the time I realised what I had done I called only to discover they were closed. I returned the next day to retrieve my wallet, which had almost $100 cash enclosed. A very polite young gentleman (one of the 5 guys) handed me my wallet fully intact. So you can add honesty and integrity to this fine establishment, as well! read more

Thought id give five guys one more chance since the last time i was there it was awful This time was very different. We were greeted right away by a very friendly guy wearing a black shirt with tattoos. We ordered our food and were informed how about how long it would take. Better then in-and-out. When I go to 5 Guys I typically get my "usual," (2) 4 patties x 1 cheese. The burgers are pretty huge, the meat is fresh, but you can feel the sodium. The wait is typically a little long, even if there are not a lot of people there. When waiting for my burger and eating peanuts, I want to throw the peanut shells on the ground. But as soon as you do, you feel bad because of the young kid walking around with the broom. If I can throw them on the ground at McGovers bar and Texas Roadhouse, I want to be able to do it here. My friend has never eaten at a Five Guys before, so I figured he needed a new experience. The first thing we learned: the bathrooms are just outside the restaurant. We looked all over after walking in until some helpful staffer said, "bathroom?" I love how you can customize the toppings on your burger, especially mushrooms which I normally have to pay for. We had to wait for our food, but it was worth it. The fries were hot and fresh and as usual with a huge portion size. The burger was good but not outstanding. Then there are the drink dispensers. The raspberry Coke is not my favorite, but the vanilla Coke I like better. I think I need a smaller cup so I can try more things. Finally, I must comment on the people who work there. The location is not too big not too small. Area is nice and clean with other shops and places to eat near by. Street parking up front and parking lot out back. I had a little burger with bacon and cheese with a soda. The bureger was pretty good. The bacon was really good. the way I describe the burger is like an upgraded in n out. The soda was really good too because the two of those crazy machines that has all kinda of diffrent cokes and fantas etc.. I had the vanilla cherry coke. Service was fast and really friendly. For years, my friends from Baltimore have been telling me about this Five Guys burger place. Finally, Five Guys opened in the Bay Area. My husband and I went to this new Bulingame Five Guys for the first time, and we liked it. Its burgers are in very good size (came with two beef patties standard), many items can be added on to the burgers (we like greilled mushrooms and fresh tomatoes), and they serve all-you-can-eat bulk peanuts (salty, though.) It also has a couple fancy soda machine, which is fun with more than I can imagine soda selections (my favorite is cherry vanilla diet coke.) read more
