As an American visiting Berlin I can only say it was an absolute treat to have bacon cheeseburger made to US standards in the EU. We've been abroad throughout this pandemic and one of the regrets I have is having lost the ability to travel back and forth freely to the US for a good old American meal. Don't get me wrong. There is loads of good food in Europe, and I have done my best to try it all (as any good foodie would), but there is something to be said for comfort food when you're away from your place of birth (and dealing with the stress of pandemic restrictions). I suppose it's the same for European folks who travel to the US and can't get their preferred food items, but with the meshing of cultures in the US it's much easier to find a wider variety of choices. Here, when we find a good US option (I'm not talking Burger King) we will absolutely give it a go. Five Guys did not disappoint today. The burger was a mess in the best possible way, fresh, greasy, and large, the fries were hot and salty, just right. Make no mistake, this wasn't the best food I had in Berlin, but it certainly satisfied a craving that has been far too long ignored while away from the US. read more
