I went to visit the bar and was impressed by its selective, but adequate spread of options. I ordered a summer spritz and went to go look at the books available. I love how they section off into the different genres while adequately having a good seating area. If you're in the area to explore, this place is it for some good reads and studying. I really like this place. I'm a bibliophile, myself. I have way too many books to read in my…read morelifetime; I suppose part of my book obsession isn't only about reading the of books, and extends to the finding and curating of a book collection, as no working dad has the time for reading the entire library that I'm building. Idk. Maybe I'm just preparing myself for a retirement spent in the books--either way, I have a habit of buying too many. Thus, it's rare that I leave a bookstore without a few or more in hand. In this case, I only purchased one upon my first visit to Fletcher's, and I believe the reason I purchased so few is simply that it's so difficult to sort through the books here unless one has much time to meander and stare at every book on the shelves and tables--and, for the tables/islands of books in the middle of the room, one must have time to pick up books stack by stack to search through them, else you can't actually see what the books are; it's like losing sight of the trees for the forest. Still, upon my visit, I did find one book that I've been meaning to purchase for years, and it happened to be in one of the stacks I picked up. I suppose there's something cathartic about picking up a stack of mystery books and searching through, hoping for a gem. It's a bit like gambling. Although, I simply did not have time in this visit to linger longer and meander through all the mystery piles. It is for the reason of accessibility--though the search may be fun--that I do deduct one star from my review. Were it easier to find books on the tables, I suppose I would leave a 5-Star review. And, on the surface, they really seem a 5-star independent bookshop. They have so much packed into such a quaint and whimsical location; I really loved the ambiance. The antiques were a nice addition--I'm now convinced that all book shops should double as antique shops with stained glass windows and panels such as this. It's gorgeous. And, yet, again, I still wish it were easier to search through these mountains of books on the tables. So, will I go back? ABAOLUTELY! and you should, too--but plan to need longer than expected to find books of interest. They're there--you just have to search through their tables thoroughly.

The employee I dealt with was condescending from the first exchange -- not in a single moment, but consistently, as though it were policy. I left without completing my purchase. There are other local businesses in this area that earn the loyalty they ask for. This one did not. I won't return, and I can't recommend it.

Do you have a love for comics, related collectibles and games, and friendly service? Then this is the place for you! AHC&G is one of two comics shops in the area. Not only is it 100x better than the other, but it's just such a pleasant place to be. It's quaint, but full of what you need. Basics, some good filler, and no real fat. A great selection of currently available comics is available on the main wall, and just in front of that are your standard boxed back-issues. PLENTY of trade paperbacks and graphic novels are available, and collectibles (like figures, statues, etc.) are shelved around the store. Subscription services are available to customers at no cost (with two minor exceptions regarding high priced items), making it easy for soldiers whose schedules don't allow for consistent and frequent visits to get the titles they want without having to worry about them getting crammed into a mailbox. The best part of AHC&G is the owner. Earl is an extremely friendly person who knows his customers on a first name basis. He is polite, treats his customers with respect, and goes out of his way to make them happy. He is very knowledgeable about comics, and when he didn't have an answer to a question I asked, which is a rare occurrence, he has always enthusiastically found one for me. I don't much enjoy shopping, but I enjoy the time I spend in his shop looking for new titles and having good conversations. I can't recommend this place enough.
