Inside, there are 2 floors of mostly higher end toys and a lot of really expensive stuff, like telescopes and space-related gear. I really appreciate that a ton, though their selection of other toys, compared to several other higher end toys stores, could use some work. They definitely have the space, but inventory needs some work and selection, particularly of expected lines, such as Hasbro and Bruder, are nearly entirely lacking here. There are several toys I've seen here and nowhere else, which is always cool to see, but not enough of those... They do also have a Thomas the Tank Engine side room and a room devoted entirely to Legos, so if you're into either of those, you'll be taking a walk into heaven here. As to me, I found it highly interesting but not ultimately super critically necessary, I guess. If you want to use a credit card, they have a minimum purchase, but if you can't find $5 worth of stuff here, you're not trying hard enough. There was NO EXPLANATION, just order cancelled. I called their customer service line. The woman there said the order was cancelled by their card processor over fraud concern. WTF? I asked for solution. She said I could try placing another order. WHY would I want to spend another 15 minutes doing that, when the result is guaranteed to be identical. I asked her to solve my problem, not tell me why HER system failed. After 10 minutes on hold, she came back and told me, oh, I don't have a way to fix this. Never again will l attempt to do business with these dummies.

One of the few anchor-stores left to the Southern Hills Mall. They didn't have their doors open…read moregoing into the mall right away once allowed to open 'post-Covid.' (They do now.) They are requiring masks. (Obv I'm writing this during Covid, but I know this location well. I didn't base my Stars off their Covid rules.) The hours differ from the mall's somewhat, which is great. They actually stay open an hour or two later on Sundays. They've also done several events for book releases and have had theme nights. (I've personally participated in some Harry Potter cosplay!) This location doesn't have much for seating like I've seen other B&N's do. The kids' area is fantastic. They do readings every so often. The bathroom has ALWAYS been a nightmare. Maybe all the mall people use it thinking it's going to cleaner than the food courts'? It's a mess. Every time. Has a Starbucks and some tables. Full Starbucks menu. But no online ordering or can't use Starbucks gift cards. Which I think is odd, but must be the rules when a location is inside another business. They have two spots for registers but they're never both 'open.' SEVERAL times I've gone to one side of the store hoping to pay to having to turn around and go to the other side. I get not having all 8 registers open...but why not at least 1 per side? Music area is small and kinda lacking, IMO. But that's me. (I think this location is smaller than the average store size. At least seems like it.) It's honestly the only place in town to buy books minus a Target or Walmart. There may still be one more store WAY across town selling books, but I can't remember if they're still operating.

However, as of 2019, that is no longer the case. At the time, Best Buy had the Blu-ray of The Big Bang Theory on sale for only $14.99, but the Best Buy, Target, and Walmart stores nearby did not have it. Barnes and Noble did have it and that is the reason why I went to the store to try to price-match. It wasn't that the store would not do a price-match of that caliber (we're talking a discount of about $35-40), it's that they flat-out​ do not price-match anymore. As a member, this is deeply insulting, not to mention that price-matching should be a basic practice of any business in 2019. Even if you are not making the same amount of money or even half of that, it is sure better than doing nothing for your customers. If you're looking to buy movies and TV show seasons here, I would not recommend it. They are very overpriced. However, if you are looking to buy books, by all means, go for it! You see, I do like the store, setup, and the Barnes and Noble Cafe. It is the "anti-price-matching" that I am against. I should also point out that this store does accept Apple Pay now, so that is a big plus too!

My elderly aunt bought two gift cards for our Christmas gifts. The cards were up front in the same…read morearea as all the other cards. She did not think to examine the cards and we discovered they were Microsoft cards good for gaming ONLY. We don't do that. We returned the cards and the receipts to my aunt so she could take them back to the store. When she did, Customer Service first told her she should have known the card was different because she got it from the electronic section. She did not. She wasn't asking for cash, just an exchange for different cards. Then she was told that buying the wrong card was her problem, not Walmart's. So rude! I don't live there so I couldn't go to the store directly so I wrote corporate customer service. After a month of no reply, I called, explaining the problem and asking for an accommodation or exemption. After three calls, I was told corporate could do nothing. I would have to call the store and ask for help. The manager of customer service was no help at all. I know when there are problems stores have leeway to make accommodations when they want to. In this case, they are falling back on the claim that exchanging gift cards is against policy and THAT'S THAT. No desire to help the customer. Especially in the hardware and houseware areas. They have a small arcade, a glasses place, small salon, and small cell phone store inside. Their 'fresh' meat counter is a joke. I also have to really pick and choose fresh produce from this location. Not always the best. Dry goods and frozen products are priced so well. I actually find myself (if I have the time) coming here for half my grocery shopping and then going down the road to HyVee for produce, meat, milk, and bread. Usually really good about having cashiers available, and they have a self-check out that has about 6 kiosks. Photo station never seems to be open. Shoe aisle is a mess. Like, always. Lots of parking. That's nice. And their auto area has always been helpful.
