This is such a lovely store! I visited with my mother-in-law, who considers European Splendor…read moreprobably her favorite store in Louisville. And I can see why. ES has so many delightful home products to look at, including pillows, linens, art, furniture, glassware, pottery, books and more. Lavender also seems to be a favorite of the owners. You can find linens especially with lavender on them as well as sweet smelling lavender sachets. The prices range. Yes there are some expensive pieces, but the quality seems consistent with the price. One item I keep thinking about are their line of leather aprons. The staff was very friendly. I'm looking forward to going back and shopping there more soon too.

The store is aptly named, as it is splendid and immediately had aspects that reminded me of Europe. After crossing through the threshold, I immediately smelled lavender -- good lavender. There are few things that I am picky about, but after spending a summer in the south of France in college (where the scent of lavender literally wafts down the street from the open air market), I am something of a lavender snob. This is the good stuff! The store is delightful, and feels homey in a sophisticated way. There is a huge variety of merchandise, from furniture to decor to hand painted pottery. I passed on the item that caught my eye as I am looking for something just a little different, but I didn't leave without buying something lavender-scented. For your own splendid piece of Europe here in Louisville, stop by European Splendor today and discover a new favorite place -- I know that I did!

Big Lots, for me, has always been just to the side of budget retail, kind of on the periphery. In…read moremy experience in the past it felt more like a closeout shop, not entirely unlike the Land of Misfit Toys, where things that weren't wanted by someone else ended up. For years I found their stock unreliable and of varying quality, so it would generally be the last place I'd go when looking for something. But that was then. I don't know what kind of magic has happened in the last 10 to 15 years, but Big Lots has improved *ahem* lots! Stores are cleaner than I remember, stocks are shelved.....strike that...reverse it....moving on. Merchandise quality seems to have improved. What brought me to this location was my combination Birthday/Christmas gift from my wife (I have a December birthday). I've got a recliner that we call my "Dad Chair" that is at least 15 years old, probably closer to 20. It's tired and she said "we need to replace the Dad Chair". Wifey is great at research and we visited a couple other furniture outlets before we got to Big Lots. Nothing really worked for me at the other places, then we went to Big Lots. I was impressed with the furniture selection at this location. I was not expecting thar much variety. I tried out every single recliner in the place and settled on one pretty quickly. Britt helped us through the sale process, which was amazingly easy. Then she told us where to meet her around the side of the building to get the chair, which was still in the box. By the time we drove around back she was waiting there with the chair. Since the box was, like, enormous, we had to take it out of the box to put it in my car. Britt helped with that, too, unboxing that chair like a champ and even assisted getting it into the car. I was 100% impressed with this Big Lots experience and with Britt, who was very personable and very funny.

I've seen Tik Tok videos of places like this and some people seem to find really good finds. Idk if I can say the same but, I did find quite a bit of stuff. They have quite a bit of mystery delivery packages some of them Amazon, however you can't open them on the floor, you have to take them to a station to open them. I found mostly bedding and Kid stuff, I did find a refrigerator filter which I didn't need but, it was a surprising find. I did find one bottle of Victorias Secret lotion as well. Everyday they have a different price for the stuff in the bins. Thursday is 25 cent day but, from 9am-4pm. I would suggest going when they open though. I will come back on a day as they are about to open to see if I can find some better finds. Another thing is they do not accept cash just Credit/Debit cards, Apple and Google Play.
