I've had mixed to declining results and, with this last visit, I am done! The customer service has always been weak and now I'm at the breaking point. Because I have limited time each visit, I try to email a list of what I'm looking for in advance. Management either doesn't check their email or simply don't care. Last week, I called twice and unfortunately got the same person who thoroughly discouraged emailing in favor of coming in because "it would be easier" and "they don't have time to look." Easier for whom? Certainly not the returning costomer. Since they're close to the airport and I had time, I stopped in anyway on Fri. I spoke with who I believe to be the owner and he also wasn't too interested in making time to check books that he said he had in the back that were recently purchased. They were apparently getting ready for a sale the next day and possibly making a sale in the moment was clearly not that important. They made a copy of my list, took my name and number and said they would check. I made it clear that I was leaving Mon, today. As of 1:00, no call. So I called the store. The clerk who answered has no idea I'm talking about and was very dismissive, and the owner isn't there until tomorrow. They don't talk their employees anymore than their customers. So, that's it. I've had it with them and won't be going back even if they had the hardest to find book on my list. One of the worst shops I've ever been to for customer service. Shame on me for having given them multiple chances to do right.

Great Escape is a store that might be a bit of a sensory overload for you if you're the kind of nerd like I am that also has a fine appreciation for vinyl as well as comics and even classic video games. Vintage shops are some of my favorite places to check out and Great Escape is now my go-to place for such items. I was in line about 3 hours early for the event not expecting anything special, but Carmichaels booksellers SPOILED the line. They brought out umbrellas to block to hot sun for us sweating, had cold water bottles for everyone, and even brought a tray on chips and two options of queso/dip for us. This was all before I even got to experience the inside of the store. The team treated me life family-even better. The books selection is beautiful and they even have stickers, and more than you can imagine adding to your shopping bag such as custom match boxes and custom candles plus more! I could browse all day. The team helped my find books, gave personalized recommendations, and even helped me pick a souvenir, and were so comforting and welcoming while they helped. During the event they were also taking pictures so I could have memories to look back on forever, I didn't need to pull out my phone once. They have it all, the team shines. The store offers a variety of books and every inch is packed with their picks; however, I enjoy following their social media pages to stay aware of their events. The website is also full of information, including new books and pre-sales. Carmichael's is an intimate setting of taking turns to see a shelf or corner of the store. That's part of its character. The staff are nearby and ready to help. Street parking. Shop local - buy gift cards.

And overall there is a nice selection. Unlike B&N and other big box stores, you might not find all books written by a particular author, but half the fun is coming upon treasures you weren't expecting. The staff were also helpful. This half priced books has a better selection…read moreof cookbooks than other half priced books and by that I mean, "If I am looking for a specific cookbook this half priced books is the TARDIS and it exists in this Half Priced Books." If I need a fiction book or a rare book for my collection of books I'll read once and never again then I have to go to the other HPB. I feel like the other HPB gives me more for my books than this one but I could wrong. I have no way of gauging that really. Time will tell.
