I USED to shop here all the time, but after today never again. I entered the store and went to browse the St. Patrick's Day items which were right at the front of the store. As soon as I walked in the door I was screamed at by a male employee that I needed to leave my backpack which is also my purse at the front with him. When I stated that the bag was my purse he said "well then just take your wallet out and leave the bag" I beg your pardon?! My wallet is not my only personal item in there. He also questioned me as to what was in the reusable shopping bag that I had as I had just stopped at another store and said I would need to leave that with him as well. Quite frankly what I walk into the store with is none of your business and leaving my bag with a stranger employee or not is not an option especially in an unsecured area right by the front door where anyone can grab them. I am quite sure that a 5 below employee is not going to fight someone grabbing people's bags while running out of the store........this is 5 below not Cartier or another high end store I was literally shopping for St.Patrick's Day stickers and an alani not diamonds. I'm not sure if all locations have implemented this archaic system of leaving your personal items in plain view guarded by a minimum wage employee but if so I will definitely no longer be shopping with this company. read more

Rather crapy store, with cheap items -of not very good quality- for around $5.00. We were very disappointed with what they had to offer as my gf was looking for good quality make-up and party goods. The staff are friendly though a bit regimented, and the layout of the store is a bit confusing. Compared to other discount stores in Astoria, I would probably give this a miss!! read more

It has been sometime since I was at this Five Below. After shopping at BJ Wholesale and Stop and Shop came by for a visit. The gamut of materials range from educational kits to toys for kids, candies, stuff you could definitely use. Even saw mud mask and foot mask there too aside from touristy gifts too. A little something for everyone on your list. Ton of candy to tempt that sweet tooth of yours. Will definitely be back. Enjoy going through the aisles to see what they have in stock. read more

Everything is under $5 dollars which is a great deal but surprisingly organized compared to other dollar stores. There are lots of hidden gems in the stores for example we found a cushion bench today, of course $5 each, which might be sold for more than $10 on Amazon. read more

I'm literally obsessed and addicted to Five Below. If Five Below was a drug, it would some of that super pure Mexican blow. I can't go anywhere without googling to see if a Five Below is close by. This one happens to be my "home store" closest to my apartment. I have a ton of gym work out pants, sports bras, don't get me started on those super cute water bottles, "Train Insane or Remain the Same," "Beach Please," and "Train Like a Girl." Their fleece blankets?! I have one at home on my bed, and one on my office chair at work. They are big, warm, and wash phenomenally. $5?!?!? GTFO. Thumbs up to the City Color makeup line, adorable colorful beach towels, POOL FLOATS. Holy crap. I've got a watermelon, ice pop, lounge, and huge ice cream cone (worthless as a float but freaking cute as hell.) Cute summer hats, stylish headbands, GYM SOCKS! CLOTH TOTE BAGS!!!! STORAGE BASSSKKEEEETTTTTsss and ottoman-style boxes. 3x5 rugs. I'm dead. I picked up a pineapple designed memory foam neck pillow one time. Am I traveling anywhere? Nah, not anytime soon. But it was FIVE DOLLLLARS. IT'S MEMORY FOAM. And super super cute. Phone cases? Check. iPad and Galaxy chargers? Double check. I even picked up that awesome color changing USB cord for charging my phone in the car. Stopped at a store two nights ago and I saw a whole TON of cute new stuff, throw pillows, outdoor tables, mandala draperies. I wound up picking up the table and a throw pillow. Great candy and snack section but I try to stay out of it since starting my new diet. No more excess crap sugar. :( What else.... oooo! Work out items! Used to go to their locations in the suburbs but didn't know there was one in NYC. SO glad I found this one as well as my sacred Chocorooms. Everything here is $5 or under but for some reason you can't find ice cube trays that are in a traditional design. I only saw 2 rubber style ice cube trays yet they have just about anything else you can think of. Not sure what gives there. Also, great candy here including Mallow Cups (and of course, the Chocorooms). Very convenient to public transit & it's not pedestrian unfriendly to get here (so you won't be risking your life if you don't have a car & need to get here). I absolutely would be back here if I had to buy stuff. read more

I love this store for what it is. I mean they have cool knock knacks and things for kids. It's pretty much a family store. The candy selection is up to standard as it has candy that is reminiscent of the 90's. The customer service is aight but whatever. Also the cashiers are pretty quick. read more

I adore this place. Everything you need (and some stuff that you really don't but can't pass up) is all in this bright, clean well organized store and it's all $5 or less. And the merchandise is quality. I have bought so many things here- cute socks, workout clothes, cozy throw blankets, kettle balls, toys, school supplies for my son, books, ear buds, chargers, cables, a keyboard when my Mac keyboard suddenly stopped working, and of course, yummy candy. They have so much stuff that I can spend an hour in there and leave with bagfuls of items without breaking the bank. This is the ultimate discount store! If you're on a budget for kid or teen or holiday gifts, this is the place to shop! Every item is five dollars or below. They have awesome snacks and candy especially Ramune soda! I've been a Five Below shopper since the mid 2000s, when I lived in NJ and when I moved to the NYC area, they did not exist until 2016. I was gleaming with joy when they opened up and this location is huge compared to the ones on Long Island and in NJ. My little one saves up her allowance and where do you think she goes shopping? I first heard of this gem from a fitness guru on instagram. So I came for the sports section. $55 later and I am a happy camper. They have a little of everything. Most things are steals (my boyfriend got 3 graphic t-shirts *that aren't cheesy, i must add* for $5 each). I came out with 5 lb kettlebells, a small trash can, some organizing bins, and some cute workout pants. I'll be back to check out their sunglasses :D read more

i must admit 5 below is my guilty pleasure and i am not the only one. this particular one is in astoria at the busy strip of northern blvd and it does get crowded on weekends so grab some cheap goodies and fill up that basket . so many variety of stuff for bucks or less ,books, chargers for phones , cases for phones , candies , and a bunch of many other nick nacks that you can and not imagine. the water bottles and candies seem to fly off the shelves quickly as well as the cheap kiddies toys. my only major beef is with slobbish customers who make a mess of a place that is usually well stocked and organized . i did pick up a bunch of novelty throw pillows that i can let the pooch have his way with when i must doggy sit , listen for only 4 bucks each who cares if mr pickles tears them apart . before folks knock the quality i would say what's the real difference between a 5 dollar phone car charger and one costing 20 bucks , not much and that's the truth . i like 5 below and just like the dollar tree you can get plenty of stuff and not spend plenty . 4 stars on my yelp meter . read more
