Morning Glory is a popular chain store in Asia. There are several in New York, but I believe this is the only one in this neighborhood. This tiny shop is jam packed full of cute items--all things kawaii. Most of the items are from Asia or are Asian inspired (i.e. Sanrio/Hello Kitty type merchandise). Every time I come here, I end up finding new things that I want to buy for myself or as gifts. They have plushies, stationary, toys, bags, etc. that you would normally find in Asia. I grew up going to shops like these and so I can't help but feel a bit nostalgic whenever I come here. Yes, most of the items are priced on the higher end but it is fun place to browse.

During my birthday HK binge, I had my boyfriend take me to Morning Glory to look at some adorable things after my friend Alex told me about it. We originally were going to go to the main Morning Glory on Roosevelt but, happened to be right next to the Queens Center Mall and opted to go there instead. This store carries all kinds of character toys from Domo, to HK and others I had no idea about. It reminded me of an Asian style Spencer's gifts. Reasonably priced, I nabbed very comfy, snuggie HK slippers an a Chococat pen. I know, it's getting a bit out of hand.

A little Chinatown/Flushing sanrio stationery store in Astoria, Queens; replete with Totoro handbags, Hello Kitty thermoses and lunchbox ware, Japanese anime character alarm clocks and child-sized stuffed animals. If you're into kawaii you'll find things here that you didn't even know you needed, s.a. kawaii bandaids. Find them by the counter, 99 cents a pack. Akin to a toy store this shop also boasts legos, cartoon character backpacks, shopkins and board games. Last, but not least, Morning glory sells Pocky. I can't really tell you how the prices compare. I haven't looked at prices in a Chinatown or Flushing store recently, but I got some Daruma erasers, 99 cents a piece.

Nice little international gift and stationary shop in Astoria has a great selection of toys, novelties and even back packs. However, stopping by here left me with a sour taste in my mouth. Though looking for a gift, I felt the eyes of the person greeting us at the door burning the back of my head the entire time. Staring us down the entire time as if we're going to steal something. Not cool. Eventually, I felt so uncomfortable that I left. Prices seemed a bit high as well. Not going to come back here seeing as the staff has a huge customer trust issue.

    More cute stuff

I was surprised there was a cute Asian gift store like this in Astoria. They have stationary, plushies and toys. This is a good place to find some authentic branded plushies haha

A nice little toy and stationary store. The selection and prices are pretty good, and worth a visit if you're in the area.

I've been to the place several times and it's most definitely cute but, the prices are ridiculously expensive.

Do they carry letter sets here?

They have stationary of different sizes. I'm usually looking at smaller, post card sized stationary so I can't be sure of regular sized letters.

    Are there squishies here?

Yes they have many kind of squishies

The most recent interaction the women who answered the phone had a very nasty unprofessional attitude. This can be extremely dishearten if you are in crisis. It creates the impression that customers are an inconvenience rather than a priority. In addition, their selection of 12-step program literature has become extremely limited. Materials that were once consistently available are now difficult to find, which is particularly disappointing for those who depend on these resources. Overall, the level of service and support no longer reflects the standards they once maintained. Based on my recent experiences, I cannot recommend this business and would suggest looking elsewhere for more reliable assistance and access to materials.

I just wanted to browse for 5 minutes to kill time before a dinner reservation. I walk in, and immediately the girl working the register says "Just letting you know, I'm closing up now." I said "Oh, I thought you were open until 6?" And she gives me the most condescending smirk and says "You've never worked in retail before, have you?" I immediately left. For a crystal and metaphysical shop, the vibes were so terrible. What a weird thing to say to someone, let alone a customer (and for the record, I have worked multiple jobs in retail).

They change the inventory seasonally, so this time they had holiday-themed things. I bought a wine bottle ornament for an oenophile friend, a footed teacup labeled "tequila," for a friend who may or may not drink during Zoom meetings (one side of the cup is blank), and fun cocktail napkins. On previous trips I've bought a mirror that charges your phone (for my daughter), and a small lunch tote and matching wine bottle tote for a friend who loves picnics, among other things for other people. The selection is very well curated, the sales associates are pleasant, and the prices aren't terrible. It's perfect for small "hostess" gifts or gag gifts, when you don't have time to run all around town. These are mainly things that people wouldn't necessarily buy for themselves, but are wonderful gifts for others. They have soaps and candles, too.

For some reason this day the window display and the door open and welcoming , drew me inside. I definitely was not disappointed! The employee behind the counter was welcoming and friendly. I'm sure I could find something to add to their clutter. In addition to the items you don't need, but want to buy anyway, they have one of a kind practical items. There's socks, umbrellas, eye glasses, shopping bags and backpacks. I'm excited about the puzzle rack. I'm coming back to get one for my daughters birthday. There's kitchen items and toys too. I couldn't stop taking photos! There's so many items I just don't find any longer. I'm happy to spread the word about this store. Don't be afraid to go inside. It's a lot more spacious than it appears from the outside! I'm highly highly recommending!
