Love going to this store. It's in the same shopping center as Target and Trader Joe's, so I find myself coming in here to browse. They have all kinds of things for kids, teenagers, and gen z like toys, books, snacks, beauty, electronics, etc. all at an affordable price!

I have seen this store a lot on social media and I was glad to hear there are some popping up in my area and today after a massage I drove to cvs nearby (that review coming next) and I saw this place across the street and went omg I need to check this out finally! Read reviews at cvs while I was shopping just to get a preview and someone literally posted like a day or two ago maybe yesterday with a 1 star saying it was junky messy and empty shelves. Not going to lie I got a little nervous because it was so fresh the review lol But others looked fine and normal for what to expect at these kinds of stores Sure enough it's tucked into a shopping plaza with what seems like very little places to park because there's a Trader Joe's and other shops but I found one close actually luckily Store was fine.. was it immaculate? No... did I expect that? No. Was it dirty? No... it was fine and yes this is like an "upscale" 99 cent store with practically the same prices lol except they tell you it's 5 or below Speaking of the price... it's mostly 5 not many below at least what I saw and shocker they have a beyond 5 dollar section Honestly it was fun to see certain things and I did buy many stocking stuffers but was I blown away? Not really... candy seems same price you'd get anywhere and some stuff seems like you are over paying but the trick to this store is that it's not always same stuff. Depends on their shipment arrivals but I'd say give it a shot and see it's with a look

Interesting place to stop in to kill a little time, to realize how much stuff there is under $5 that interests me. When I initially heard of the store 'Five Below', I got it confused with 'Minus5' which I've wanted to visit. Totally different things. Once I got that straighten out and realized that this was a bargain retail store, reset my expectations and appreciated what they were selling. It's probably the better version of a dollar store (with a lot higher prices) and many things you could get more cheaply at other places, but they also sell products exclusively made for them. Some of the latter products to call out: different board games, various legally branded t-shirts, chargers and cords, large selection of play/sport balls, various plushies, and even a section for various fidget toys. It's geared towards the young. One place was a display called 'sweet deal' where you can pick/choose various individually wrapped candy for 10/$1.25. Not sure where else one could do this for such a low price. In terms of the inside, it uses the standard shelving and signs of the other Five Below I've visited, and it is definitely geared towards the youngsters. The biggest thing I noticed was how absolutely industrial the floors were...they hadn't been changed from the previous tenants and because it was a hodge podge of different materials and one-off patches, it looked really bad (imo)...as if this is just a pop-up and not permanent location.

Stopped in to do a little holiday shopping before the in-store selections are picked over like a buzzard noshing its lunch on a hot savannah. Lol ok, that's dramatic, but I was pleased to enter into a fully stocked store with all kinds of fun selections. Shopping at Five Below feels like an adventure with all the cool discoveries you'll make. I definitely asked myself aloud several times, "why didn't I come here when I was looking for that?!?" (New journal, charging brick, gummy hotdogs, SOCKS). They seem to have it all and at good prices. The workers are nice and helpful too. Only thing is the same thing that's challenging about most so-cal shopping is the parking. This particular Five Below shares a parking lot with a Trader Joe's and a Target so it can be busy busy. Allow a few extra minutes to park if you visit during peak hours!

It originated from the 100Yen…read morestores that are all over Japan, This location in Long Beach is well run, with fully stocked shelves, ranging from very specific products used for one particular purpose to everyday things that one would constantly have to replenish. Slowly browsing the shelves is like walking through a series of infocommercials...very possible that what you buy was a complete waste of money, but having the risk be minimal since it's only a dollar. When we went to Japan many years ago (before Daiso made it to the US in 2005), 100 yen truly meant a dollar. But the Japanese economy has really struggled compared to the US, to the point where 100 yen is only worth 64 cents now in 2024. Another thing I noticed is how they handle labeling of prices. Both 100yen stores and US dollar stores keep the effort of pricing products low, by selling everything at one even price (i.e. a dollar or 100yen). Of course, with inflation, this is not sustainable...prices need to go up. So rather than having to relabel everything as prices go up, instead Daiso uses the prelabeled price in YEN to represent a CODE..translated to a dollar amount per charts that are found throughout the store. And the vast majority of product has no price...which means that it is the default price of the entire store (which in 2024 is $1.75). Unlike 99cent or dollar stores in the US which sell mostly excess products that you can find in department or grocery stores, much of the products in Daiso are made exclusively for them. Thus, you can find real useful things here, at decent quality. On this visit (which we made only because we saw this store near the place where we had lunch), we ended up getting 2 china soup bowls, loose tea leaf filters, a fat/scum skimmer for soups, a spring loaded glass bottle for Q-tips (or in my case, Glide flossers), and a 10 pack of clasp chip bag clips. And none of them had marked prices, so defaulted to $1.75 each. Even here, they ask if you want a bag, needing to charge you the dime if you answer 'Yes' (that's California). So we always say 'No', and because this time we had not brought reusable bags, used the bowls to contain the knick-knacks back to our car. Would have been a very different story if we had walked, but alas, Brand Daiso is one of those stores that is not within walking distance from our place.

Highly recommend coming to Daiso if you shop at other discount and affordable stores. So many great…read moreitems and knick knack items. Its nice to see that the place was very neat and organized which is also a major plus when browsing through. Makes it more easy to pick something up without having to dig through piles. There's not a big selection for men and kids as it was mainly a little sections. But pretty extensive collection for chinas and crystals. Woman's had the entire section for clothing and accessories. The staff were all amazing and friendly. Such sweetheart and major dolls. Chatting with them was so fun. After an hour, I had some party decor, a adhesive wall paper roll, shower steamers, and small drawstring gift bags. My GF picked up a double walled tumbler, 6pk of backup reading glasses, inflatable mini bed, 4 pk Ticonderoga pencils, and car window shades. It was worth noting that although the majority was of no interest, there were people with dozens of items in their cart. To each their own. I saw lots of party decor, disposable plates, makeup, cell phone accessories, home decor, misc craft, seasonal, etc. Few name brands, such as Sharpies and Ticonderoga, mostly generic Amazon goods made in China. All of the items come bought as mystery pallets from Amazon & the store is restocked on Thurs and Friday. Pricing is the most expensive on the restock days and I can't even fathom what's left by $0.50 Weds! Will be back to treasure hunt again! Highly recommend if the overconsumption doesn't bother you & you have the patience to go through the items. Some customers were aggressively throwing items around & coming close to hitting others with their carts as they inched through the bins.
