I contacted Fitz Fish Ponds to replace the leaking liners in my existing pond. My pond includes two waterfalls and a 70 foot stream between the two waterfalls. I had a leak in a pond that was a plastic shell pond that I had for 20 years. I was tired of repairing the leak so I called Fitz. Tim came out and gave me an estimate. He said he was very busy and couldn't start the job for at least a month. I waited and gave them a deposit to start the job. Again i waited. Finally I got a call to see if they could come over on friday. It was Monday. I said great. 3 guys came over on that friday and started the job. They were very professional. They set up a large holding pond to house my fish while they worked. They removed the many many landscape rocks that I methodicaly placed through out the years They took pictures of where the larger rocks were and even the smaller ones and when they were done with the digging and liner replacement they tried their best to make it look like it was before they came. I was impressed with their concern that I was satisified. They did a great job. I did a little fixing after they left because I had to be a little fussy but I would recommend them to anyone that want a professional job done. You get what you pay for !!! read more

I have used Fitz's Fish ponds since 2018. This year my service technician was Dan. He was an outstanding technician and was the best service person I have had. My pond was always clear. He had tips for keeping my pond healthy. It was the first time since I've had it that the filter basket wasn't a problem. Dan has always gone above and beyond to help keep my fish and pond h ealthy. Last week John Mortini and Felix put our fall netting put over our pond. They did a wonderful job. My netting has been used for a while and they were able to zip tie the few areas that needed special attention. Happy with service this year. Thank you! read more

A great store for pond fish and supplies. They have a nice selection of love pond plants and fish. They have multiple large ponds with a variety of exotic koi. Some are quite beautiful and amazing. They have a full selection of pumps and filters and supplies as well. Within the store they there is an independent freshwater aquarium fish store called Aquarium Roots. Excellent specialty freshwater aquarium and aqua scaping store. They have an amazing variety of hardwoods, spider wood, and rocks of all types for aquascaping. They carry a variety of rimless aquariums, Oase filters, LED lights. In particular they have an amazing selection of live plants. A great variety and diversity and all healthy and thriving. Tissue culture plants as well. Of course they have fish. Not just run of the mill stuff- they have those too. But some real unusual and beautiful specimens. Great bettas and nano fish as well. Visited the Fairfield retail location today to pick up some water hyacinths for my pond. It's a shame these guys don't have a more visible location, because I would have been coming here more often had I known they existed. They had my plants for my pond, which I was glad about. They also had a nice selection of fish ranging from Fantail to koi, and I actually left with two very nice fish that were competitively priced. Inside the store has a nice selection of supplies. Sadly, in the future, I would look to the other option in my area (there are only two). I will say Fitz's has improved. A few years ago it was impossible to get a call back from anyone. They seem to have hired more folks in the office and they are now much more responsive and always courteous. In 2021 they scheduled me for the spring, never did the cleaning, and when I called in late summer they admitted that they had simply forgot. Huh?? They did refund me 20% for that. So..............the cleaning finally occurred in 2022. How did it go.......... Cleaning itself was fine, but the biggest issue is they caused a leak. For months after the leak continued, and when they finally (only partially) fixed the problem they charged me for it. I spoke to them on the phone several times with an acknowledgement that it was odd to pay for a problem they created, yet continued to invoice me for $250. Nuts. In addition some of their services are through-the-roof expensive. When they cleaned, they thought my pump was broken and piled the pump and filter on the lawn. They sent me a quote to replace the pump for $900+ dollars. I found my same pump at Lowes for approx $125. Thankfully before I bought it I discovered my pump wasn't actually broken, but the fuse on the outlet was blown. Sadly, in removing everything and piling it on the lawn the caused a disruption in my filter, so I then had that added expense. So in the end while the pond was temporarily clean, and they did refund me 20% for "forgetting" to clean it in 2021, I incurred additional charges for a leak they created and a filter they broke. I would look elsewhere........they're not very diligent in their work. read more

I love looking at my koi and listening to my pond, and I'm happy to have Fitz's handle all the rest! Today Fran & Dulcier are on-site to trim my ornamental grasses and aquatic plants as they net the pond for the fall. They are cheerful and conscientious. They will be back next month to winterize and again in the spring to clean and open the pond. It's a breeze to organize it all through Jessica. Worse the before. I have tried on MANY occasions to deal with this business to only find out they simply do not care. The sell shotty products take for example a pond pump I purchased LESS THEN 3 years ago (the one I had before lasted almost 10 years) and when I called to get it serviced they wanted to sell me the same pump. Yeah sorry I learn from history. I have had tried to also get estimates on resurfacing my koi pond and getting some repairs on it to no success. The two customer agents I dealt with (Donna in 2022 and now Jessica 2024) were pretty much useless. Maybe this is due to their new NEW system (yeah they keep getting "systems" for inventory and customer records which never is accurate) or lack of training or even opening a NEW store in New Hope. Whatever it is there are a lot of Koi pond stores that will happily sell products that last and are willing to show up and help a LOYAL customer out. This is the second year we've had Fitz's come in to put netting over our pond in West Caldwell, NJ to keep out the fall leaves, and we couldn't be happier. Absolutely horrible service they didn't complete a job and Jessica the manager said "sir I don't want you to pay we hope we keep your business!" This was in the winter and when I called in spring I talked with Jessica the manager again. She first said we are at capacity I said I can wait. Then she said actually the notes say you refused to pay which wasn't true. I told her this is unfair to black ball someone that made a valid complaint. She said "sorry"! I talked with the owner who admitted he's not really involved and didn't get anything done. I would never recommend this place and will go out of my way to share my experience if someone brings them up. read more

Horrible job done on my cement patio. Also extremely unprofessional how they left my property. They broke my screen door and siding in multiple places. They scratched up my Tesla charger on the outside of my house. On top of this there was cement spray literally everywhere. I took a power washer to it and still couldn't get it off. The grading is terrible so there are MULTIPLE points in which the water pools up. Not to mention it LOOKS terrible. Not a good job. DO NOT RECOMMEND. Oh, they also did a terrible job with my fish pond and couldn't even get it working after I spent close to $1000 with them. When I called to discuss my issues they said to pay my bill and then if I wanted it fixed I would have to pay an additional $750 on top of the $15000 I spent with them already. I recently investigated purchasing Japanese Koi from them, and can say that Brian (the owner ) has taken the purchasing experience to a new level. After speaking to AJ, who was both professional and helpful, I was provided an appointment to come to the farm and choose my koi. Arriving at the farm, to say I was blown away is an understatement. I had Fitz's maintenance crew come to my house and empty, power wash and refurbish my Koi pond. This was no easy task considering the size of the pond. They did a great job to minimize the stress to the fish and landscaping. After close to 8 hours of nonstop work the left my pond in amazing condition. Every part of job site was in better condition (patio, outdoor furniture, walkway etc) than then when they arrived. Scheduling with Jessica was easy and professional. We bought a house with an existing pond. I never wanted a pond. However, today, Austin and Eric came from Fitz ponds to clean it. They were awesome. They put in a new filter and explained the required maintenance and answered all of my many questions. They cleaned the pond beautifully and took care not to harm any of the bullfrogs that reside there. They suggested plantings and algae solution, explaining the whole little ecosystem in the process. Awesome place. We stopped in today and the place was closed ughhh. We got lucky though Brian was actually on the property and was able to help us out. We bought some large koi and a fountain and he gave us the hook up since it was out of season. This place has everything you could possibly need for your pond. Filters, pumps, heaters, decoration, plants etc. If you have a pond you have to check this place out. They do off site services too cleaning, netting etc. read more

We had Fitz's Fish Ponds come out and do a complete redo on a leaky, unattractive, unstable pond that's liner would float up and crowd our fish. Tim, Brian, and every one of the guys who worked on our pond were beyond careful, neat and respectful of our yard and our fish who had already been through so much. I can't even believe all that they did to transfer the fish, dig and design the most magnificent, natural, healthy pond I could have ever imagined. We are so in love with our new pond and what it has added to our home. It's so beautiful, the fish can hide and feel safe, they are even taking food from our hands and thriving. The water is crystal clear and we feel as if we are living at a resort. We can see the waterfalls (yes, multiple waterfalls!) from inside our home and anywhere in the back yard. My name is rob. I contacted Fitz ponds because me and my wife wanted a beautiful koi pond in are back yard. We have an existing one now. I dealt with a guy named Tim. I told him I wanted to completely redo my koi pond over. We went over alot of things and finally agreed on a price. I was asking Alot of questions because when you are spending a lot of money you would figure you have the right to ask them. I didn't want to sign a contract until all my questions were answered. So before I signed I had to ask a few more questions. I asked about my property and if there is any liability to them if something gets damaged. Keeping in mind the day before he told me he could start in a couple of weeks. After I asked that question he told me he wouldn't be able to start my project until late August. I was very shocked to hear him say this. At that point I asked him why this was. He them preceded to tell me that I wasn't a fit for his company to do my project. I felt this was very unprofessional and he actually told me in a text that he pretty much lied to me. I have all the texts to prove this if any one is wondering if I am lying. It's a shame this had to happen. I do believe they most likely do beautiful work but I guess me and my wife will never know. I feel I'm a very nice guy but for some reason I was not treated fairly. I would hate to think there were other terrible reasons why he didn't want to do it. Would love to hear from the owner. Or maybe it's him. That would be even scarier. read more

If you're contemplating Fitz's Fish Ponds to rebuild an existing pond, or fulfill the desire of owning a backyard pond...think again!. Your dream can be turned into a virtual nightmare. After talking to Brian, our belief was the restoration of our existing pond would be done to our specifications. Though more expensive than other companies, we felt confident our choice would prove worth it. I grew leery when a quoted three-day job was completed in two; we eventually discovered why. A good percentage of the work discussed was not performed. The landscape manager redesigned the landscaping; he felt it looked better his way. Rocks that were to be hauled away were used instead as the base for walls surrounding the pond. Remaining rocks were buried behind the waterfall, making spring planting tedious and almost impossible. Dug up rocks were now piled in our yard. Two months later, slate pieces in the wall started shifting, leaving gaping holes. Large rocks were heaped in an unsightly makeshift wall alongside the waterfall. Eventually, they began to tumble down after each rainfall. The best part in all this...don't expect Brian to return any of your calls. After payment is made, you're out of luck! After several calls and numerous messages, the project manager finally came out to see the pond. A crew was to come back in three days...that was five months ago; still waiting! Don't believe the promise of "we'll do whatever it takes to make you happy." My husband actually drove to Bound Brook 3 months ago; left his name, number, and a message for Brian to call, with an employee...still waiting! Unfortunately, we could not wait any longer and had to hire a pond company in North Plainfield (excellent place!). They repaired the leaking waterfall, rebuilt walls surrounding the entire pond, and hooked up a UV light, which Fitz's Fish Pond should have installed...pea soup is not a very good look. Don't be fooled by all the great reviews on Facebook either...isn't it nice to have friends and family. read more
