Review edited. One day after posting a one star review for Fitzpatrick Painting, I received a phone call from Tim, the owner. He was clearly concerned with the review that was received and was genuine in his desire to understand the nature of where his company has fallen short. Tim is clearly desirous to lead his business with humility and to make happy customers, and acknowledged the deficits that have been witnessed by me as an unsatisfied customer. What strikes me most, is that there were no excuses made for the poor service, but rather a desire to know how he and his team can improve their customer service and business. This is the cornerstone for excellent customer service from the owners' office. It is clear that with an employee base of more than 75 people, it is difficult to make everyone happy. We all have off days at work, at home, etc. and this is where grace comes in. I stand firm on my review of one star for Tim's business' customer service, but Tim gets five stars for customer care, follow up and humility. One can hope that these characteristics will be modeled by his employees who are a louder, stronger voice of the business, and will make it shine, or tarnish the name with their work ethic and actions. This business has had significant potential in the Mid Willamette Valley area, and has attempted to establish itself as a household go-to painting/carpentry/construction company. In March of 2021, I contacted their carpentry/cabinetry refinishing professionals. They arrived and were attentive to our verbalized remodel plans, and promised a bid for cabinet refinishing. THEY NEVER SENT A BID, nor responded after our meeting in our home. We hired a different contractor for our project due to lack of follow through. In fall 2021, we again reached out for gutter cleaning, moss treatment and moss removal. The project was started sooner than we had anticipated, and we were happy to have the work done. After the first day of work, the gutters were cleaned, and moss treatment was applied. Due to time constraints, the foreman, Jed, indicated that the remainder of the work would be completed later that week. The roof was left unfinished, and filthy rags were left on our roof...FOR A MONTH. I finally called to request that the rags be removed, and to see if the job could be completed. They arrived the next day, and performed the moss removal...right into our newly cleaned gutters, which were immediately loaded up with moss after we had just had the gutters cleaned. After this debacle, there was no communication from the crew when they were done to indicate that their services were complete. No emails, no snail mail communications. In mid December, I received a voicemail indicating that I have a past- due bill for services rendered. I indicated that I had not received a single bill, and shared my dissatisfaction with the way in which this service was carried out. I agreed to pay the amount agreed upon, but got a response from TJ, the customer care coordinator that my comments would be "reviewed" for quality improvement efforts. I didn't ask for a price adjustment and I didn't refuse to pay, but this business has no concept of customer service. Follow through has repeatedly proven to be lacking, and their billing department clearly doesn't communicate with their workers. SEEK SERVICES ELSEWHERE. read more

JUST BEFORE THE HOLIDAYS I had guests coming over and my house was full of uncompleted projects. I had several rooms that needed painting and one room i had a god awful wall/ celing patching job that needed to be redone. When they came to give me an estimate we agreed on one flat fee to finish all the work. I have to say they were polite clean, definitely took the time to make sure they did not leave a mess. I will admit not everything was perfect, but they sure did do a great job finishing everything in the house that needed fixing ( took them 7 hours). I would use them again. read more

This is our third time using Fitzpatrick Painting. The first two times were to completely paint our houses (2 separate moves). The third time was to paint the wood posts, railings, and spindles in the deck of our most recent home. We also had them paint a west facing exterior wall that had faded due to constant sun. We could not be more pleased with the quality of work, the responsive service, professional and knowledgeable workers, and most of all the value for the services we received. Fitzpatrick will not only be our first call for future paint jobs, they will also be our first call when we get ready to do some remodeling. read more

File this under "you pay for what you get." (The bid was less expensive.) In September 2012, I hired Fitzpatrick Painting to paint and caulk my house. This included a "10-year warranty" with an inspection by the company every two years. The company provided me with a copy of their fancy "warranty." In July 2019, the paint failed badly on one side of my house. I called Fitzpatrick Painting, who sent out one of their "senior" inspectors to examine the issue. The inspector confirmed that the paint did indeed fail, and I was entitled to a rework under warranty. Since that time, Tim Fitzpatrick, the owner, has made the best impression of duck, dodge, and hide in taking care of this problem. In 2019, my job was delayed until it was too late in the year. In 2020, he couldn't do it due to COVID. Now, after numerous emails, he appears onsite in August 2021 and has no "recollection" of the problem, the delays, and even the inspector who made the decision in 2019. He now refuses to correct the failure of his company's paint job that his own inspector confirmed. When confronted with his lying and deceitful business practices, he immediately sped off the job site and barely missed hitting his own worker's vehicle. Don't be a victim of this charlatan as I have been. AVOID! read more

I'm really impressed. We went from a bid to a finished job in less than a week. Jeb and his crew did a neat, professional job, and were nice and friendly. My dog even loved them! This is a stressful time for me -- we're getting our house ready to sell. Fitzgerald helped reduce my stress, and I'm really glad I called them! read more

This company was professional and friendly from the beginning (estimate visit) to the end. We had a crew of maybe up to 10 men (and a woman) in our house at once, tackling interior painting, doors, trim, walls, ceilings, cabinets, new color on front door. It was a big project and involved a lot of careful detail work! They got it done in about 6 days and were friendly and professional throughout the time they inhabited our home! We were extremely pleased with the end result, looks like new in our 2007 home! The price was very fair and the communication and timeliness exemplary. We made the mistake of hiring Fitzpatrick Painting twice. Both times resulted in much frustration as a customer. For this much money, I expected "turn key" service professionally done. Instead, many mistakes were made by the paint crew that I had to find, messes were left uncleaned, and portions of the job were left undone which required me to follow up with the company to get done. On another job with us, they broke outside plumbing fixtures without saying anything about it. Fitzpatrick has been growing their business for years and I truly believe that their management and supervision has not kept up with this growth and quality and communication is what has suffered. I asked a Realtor friend of mine about Fitzpatrick and her comment was that they are the company that everyone hires once then finds someone better the next time. There are a lot of good paint businesses out there that deserve your business. Fitzpatrick is not one of them. read more

Fitzpatrick was such an excellent company to have build our wraparound deck! The supervisor Alphie was very kind, and offered creative ideas for what we had originally envisioned. He was always there on site! All of the workers were respectful of our property and personal space. They work diligently, quickly and efficiently! In June of 2016, we had the exterior of our house, nearly the entire interior of our house painted by Fitzpatrick painting. Carlos and his crew did an excellent job on the extensive exterior in four days accommodating every small request like champs. They were neat, cleaned every aspect of the house and yard each day, were incredibly detail oriented at their work, and were polite and a pleasure to work with. Lee and crew painted the interior including patching a hole in the ceiling. These guys were real pros at their craft and were also neat and courteous. Mostly especially, they worked around us for a week while we lived in the house because we couldn't move a special needs member of the family. Each day they communicated work schedules and outlined expectations for the next day and followed through consistently. I will work with this company again when we prepare this house for sale in a few years. I would recommend working with them if you have medical challenges that have kept you from inviting painters in your home. read more

We recently needed to have a leaky window fixed, so we called Fitzpatrick Construction. Alphie was sent and was able to find where the leak originated and properly fix it in about 2 hours. Alphie's work was outstanding and I would recommend him for anyone in need of home repairs. With all the rain we've had since the repair, not one drop has gotten into the window! I was very impressed by the level of quality job that Fitzpatrick Painting did. Walt and crew were very helpful during the painting process. The house is a very large older sorority house but they were thorough in their job. The painters were very patient with those who live in the house. I had lots of college kids coming in and out of the doors but they were extremely accommodating and kind to everyone they met. I was impressed at the cleanup job they did. There wasn't any overspray. My experience with Fitzpatrick Painting was horrible. The company is unprofessional and deceitful they gave me a contract in the beginning with a price then Continued to send additional invoices that I never signed a contract for or was even given paperwork. The paint consultant did not come out to the house and acted very unprofessional later on and was unwilling to resolve the issues she caused. While the paint crew was very helpful and willing to help in anyway possible the company as a whole is shady and I would never recommend this company to anyone. UPDATE: I hired Fitzpatrick's for yet another job, January 2020, painting my stair rail and all the trim work in my 2-story entryway. (The company offers deals on indoor painting during the winter months.) They did the usual GREAT job, including a lot of prep work and final clean up. I had set up schedule for repairs and painting exterior. Painters showed up first and got the painting done as far as could be. I waited over a month and called to ask when repairs were going to be done. They did get someone out the next day to do repairs but now waiting on painting to be finished. A little frustrated as this was all suppose to be done end of Aug or early Sept.... now we are at end of Oct and waiting again. Barry and crew did a good job with painting and crew that did repairs did through job but ready for this project to get finished. Hope you're not on a tight timeline. read more

Had our exterior body & trim painted as well cedar shingles washed & re-stained. Spent money on having Kelly do a color consult. The value of that consult was way below the cost. Our head painter showed up totally unaware of the color choices, as if there had ben no communication between Kelly & James. James was extremely helpful and responsive, very knowledgeable about his craft. Unfortunately, half of the crew was sub par in execution of the project. Considerable overspray on the shingles that required more time to clean up, missed painting some of the gutters. Only painted the face of the window trim, told that it was industry standard , but would paint the sides of the trim if it didn't run over the allotted time for the project. They did return to finish up. Also told they would only paint if conditions were right for paint to cure, but often had stop prior to the forecasted rain, and the paint was exposed to moisture prior to curing. They did leave a clean worksite after they finished. We are happy with the end result but the process was not seamless and we will see how the paint holds up. read more

Painting crew did a nice job, were very careful about taping, and using plastic to keep paint where it belonged....also came back and did touch ups as needed...went the extra mile to work around a chandelier..........However, do not use the Fitzpatrick Construction crew..not professional, did very sloppy finish work...seemed like a different guy would come back and correct the work of another..did not seem concerned about finishing the work correctly...and some of their work was not up to code....also the guy who does the bid is not the one who does the work...and the communication is terrible... I have pondered every splendid adjective in my brain too come up with the most replete list of wonderful things to say about these folks, and mere superlatives cannot express the pleasure I have had in dealing with them. The degree of professionalism that Fitzpatrick puts into their operation, staff, work, and relations is unrivaled, and I have worked with at least 10 different folks from this organization and each one is genuinely enjoyable to interact with. We have used them for several years across numerous sites including exterior, interior, farms, outbuildings, historic homes and more. Each time I need a job done I am given a quote by a prompt and attentive salesperson (Jesse) and the rates have always beaten other painting companies by a considerable sum. In fact we no longer get other quotes as it is guaranteed that Fitzpatrick will win the bid by 20-30% which adds up! Each time the paint staff come out to the site they are courteous, clean, and thorough in everything they do and they always satisfy my "hard to please" expectations by performing such acrylic wizardry that it is guaranteed to impress most. I gave one star because I had to. Canceled my contract. I have never been treated more poorly with regards to respect and customer service ever in my experience as a home owner. I am speechless, still. Damage was incurred during our initial process and when I contacted the owner to seek some guidance - he set an appointment with me and never showed. When I called him back his reaction was.."It is, what it is". Unreal! The damage would have cost $65 to replace. Good thing I found my gutter plugs in the bushes as well before the debris clogged my sewer line. I am urging caution to consider alternative companies that will support their customers, treat them with respect and at best, act like they care. If they cannot support their claims of professionalism at the basic level - the rest is just talk. The damage is secondary to how poorly they handled my concern. Unreal. I will be spending my money with a local company that treats their customers how they would wish to be treated. That is all anyone wants. Obviously, Fitzpatrick has enough business that we don't matter and that is fine. But I am sharing my experience. We are good people who work hard for our money and I urge you to be on your game and take pics. You're recourse should anything go "wrong" with be zero. read more
