The sole thing I cared about was rebuilding my atrophied leg, a symptom of extensive knee construction that had turned my quad, hamstring and calve into shadows of their original selves. I couldn't kneel, squat, lunge or even sit for prolonged periods of time without pain. Christina and Drew were thoughtful in their approach (which I now know is just how they operate). I think that they knew my goals would blossom as I felt more control over my knee recovery, and that's exactly what happened. Every week, we saw little gains and I found myself asking bigger questions, not just about my knee but about diet, mental health, routine, self-image, and mindfulness. Now, 15 months later, I feel physically strong. I feel disciplined and capable. I feel like I can trust myself to take good care of my body and brain. And most of all, I feel healthy even though 2020 has been an objectively difficult year for our world. In March, we shifted to Zoom because of coronavirus - I'm so grateful that I had their support during a time when mental and physical health was so important. They helped me transition to quarantine, work from home, home workouts, and a lot more cooking than I've ever done. If you need a team behind you, I highly recommend that you invest in yourself by working with Christina and Drew. Their training quality via Zoom is excellent and leaves me feeling strong, valued and connected!

The space itself is very inclusive and they take anti-discrimination seriously. Pre-Covid they weren't the most attentive to cleanliness and sometimes ran out of cleaner and paper towels in the gym but that changed during Covid and they are extremely safe and strict on that and mask wearing. Gendered locker rooms, and nice showers with expensive amenities (shampoo/soaps/air fresheners). They also have a refrigerator and a common working space which was a bit utilitarian (read: the seats are uncomfortable), but hey, it existed. Plenty of parking in front and behind the building (closer to Bear's Smokehouse, even though it's a bit of a walk). Staff is friendly, but you may find that many of the people mentioned in these reviews are no longer at DAC. I would come during off peak hours and would be able to mess with the rack (two) or treadmills if I was into that. They have also have two peloton bikes that use the LOOK Delta clips so if you have SPDs, sorry. They also have a TRX machine, but I think you need a trainer with that one. I didn't love it enough to renew my membership because the fitness center is a bit small and completely got mobbed during peak hours pre COVID, but I felt like it offered a better value than similar fitness center style clubs in the area.

The school where I work even partnered with them to offer an athletics program to a group of our middle school students. It was neat to see how Chris and Rich were able to empower the kids. Take it from somebody that is not a true Crossfit person--SOSF has an outstanding culture. They aren't just about working you hard (though they do that); the culture is more focused on wellness and educating its members to exercise healthily. It attracts a diverse set of individuals, young and old(er), and strives to meet individual needs. I don't make a point of writing many Yelp reviews, but when I got an email prompting me to do so, it was a no-brainer.

My second visit was spot on to build strength in the areas I was concerned about . She had an eagle eye for errors in posture or form. She adjusts exercise to accommodate your body or injury . I was very impressed. I felt relaxed and not at all self conscious.
