I'm very happy that I "took a chance" and walked in to Bare Bones. The staff is wonderful, prices fair and the workout is awesome. My traditional gym workout has gotten so boring so I tried the boxing class. I feel comfortable pushing myself, or not doing so, without pressure from the instructors; we all go at our own pace with "encouragement" from the instructor. Clayton is very welcoming, Anthony's class had more boxing tips which was something I want, and even though Amber kicked my behind in her class, I left smiling. The music is perfect (shout out to Anthony with the Bad Bunny) as well. As a healthy man in his 50's, I was nervous (my skinny ass in a BOXING gym??) but I did not need to be. From the minute I walked in I felt comfortable. Super nice people in the classes as well (some very fit, others just doing their best to get a workout). Someday hoping to get real boxing classes but for now the classes are just perfect. A lot of fun, stress reliever, and a GREAT workout. read more

What a workout! I signed up for a three month unlimited membership and it was worth every moment and every cent. This boxing gym is phenomenal- with a few machines, a small boxing ring, and a separate area with dozens of punching bags. Although the classes are meant for boxers of all levels (and I count as whatever comes before "beginner"), the instructors are tough and definitely push your limits. So come ready to beat the crap outta that bag! Another plus is the full body workout. Start out stretching, work up to some cardio (like laps around the gym), punch time, and wind down with ab exercises. I'm still a huge wimp but in my freshly renewed membership I'll try to work up to more than one class a week. read more

The coaches here are amazing but the biggest downfall is that the owner has absolutely no ability to provide customer service and is argumentative with anyone who enters the doors. I walked in and looked at a fellow member and literally said "she's likely going to yell at me"... my peer said "yeah me too!" She will likely respond that she is not at fault, however her inability to genuinely smile and say hello, answer a question without demonstrating irritation and complete inability to communicate with the public has caused me to both leave this facility and now tell others of my poor experience. She needs a desk person who cares about her members and can demonstrate kindness and she needs to stay behind the scenes and not be seen. Rude, disrespectful and just a horrible representation of the great coaches she has who hold that place up! read more

This place is awesome. The equipment is second to none for either training or working out on your own. It even has a full regulation size boxing ring. Trainers are also available if you want to take up the sport of boxing or simply take the scheduled cardio boxing routines for a fabulous workout. For workout junkies, this place definitely delivers. Located within a decidedly ugly strip mall (the same one that has Goong Asian Restaurant and a huge closed pet store) and across the street from the Aldi on Silver Lane, I really had no idea what to expect when I walked in to Bare Bones. What I found inside was a ton of people, some tread mills, a boxing arena, and a sea of punching bags in back of the studio. I walked in, a nice guy pegged me immediately as a living social coupon kid and wrapped my hands up and pointed me towards the gloves in the back of the room. Note: if you are squeamish about other people's sweat and plan on going here often you might want to invest in your own pair of gloves, although they are kind of pricey. The class started unceremoniously, with the instructor sitting down and beginning the stretches. Then we segued into some cardio, running in circles around the gym, doing push-ups and squats and mountain climbers and jumping jacks. After this, punching the bags, followed by an ab workout. It's awesome. I suggest you bring a water bottle, although there is a drinking fountain in back. Wear sneakers. Get ready to sweat. Enjoy. You can try out your first 3 classes for free too, so there's no reason not to give it a shot!!! read more

What do 20 somethings basic girls have in common? Apparently it's a love for boxing. I've been going to Bare Bones Boxing for a couple of months now, and have recruited 7 of my friends to go here. And we are all OBSESSED. Upon first impression, this place looks intimidating as heck. I still remember my first time here. In the middle of a desolate strip mall, windows were all fogged up, and people sparring in the ring right by the window. Good thing I came with a friend, because there was 0% chance I would've had the guts to go in, if I was by myself. Any who, I walked in, and everyone was sooooo friendly and welcoming. Completely unexpected, in the best way possible. Now moving on to the classes itself. Fantastic. Such a good workout! I literally look like I just walked out of the shower when I leave this place. Even some of my "toughest" guy friends get their butts kicked when they've came with. I've really enjoyed all the instructors I've taken the classes with. My favorite thing is probably that the patrons are of all abilities, and the best of the best are always very helpful to us newbies. Literally obsessed with this place. They have a three class trial for free. Seriously, just give it a try. Nothing to lose but 700 calories in that hour! read more

I have to say there is not a time that I walk out of the gym and say it wasn't a good workout. There are several different instructors from general fitness to amateur boxers to professional boxers. Each class is going to have you sweating in 10 min so bring a hand towel and don't forget the water. You get to try 3 free so really what have you got to lose except some sweat and maybe a pound or 2. They supply the gloves and hand wraps for first 3 classes. When you decide to join and you will because it is a blast, you will need to buy hand wraps which they sell there and you might (i did) buy your own gloves... My sweat grosses me out so there was no way I was not getting gloves available in most sporting goods stores or the staff at BBB can order some for you. One more thing talk about stress relief ..... bad day at work come punch a bag. WooHoo read more

I love this gym! I've been a member for 3 years. Normally I get bored of a gym after this amount of time, but not at Bare Bones. Each class has a different workout that keeps you motivated. The workouts are fun yet intense and you will definitely see results. In a one hour class you get your cardio, strength training, and you learn boxing techniques. I recommend it to anyone. read more

Bare Bones Boxing is an excellent gym! The classes are fun, challenging, and an amazing workout - they definitely deliver results. The trainers are awesome and each one has a different personality and unique workout. The gym is nice and clean and everyone is very friendly. You can also buy personal training with any of the instructors. I am working with Brent and find that he's excellent to work out with. Brent is attentive, challenging, and very motivating. For the classes, the gym provides wraps and gloves. If you decide to come here, I highly recommend buying some wraps and gloves - since you'll know that only you have used them and can clean them accordingly. read more

Barebones is the best gym ever! Great workouts, full body health, fast paced, challenging and great for the spirit. The environment is better than good; forget about any negative ideas you might have about gyms. The moment you walk in the door you'll feel at home. The gym offers cardio/endurance/boxing classes throughout the day, maintains a few treadmills, weights, some stationary bikes, and rows of punching bags. The gym is CLEAN, both lockers and workout area. They offer a free trial (3 free classes), they'll lend you gloves and wraps. Its not a fancy place but its a really great workout. There's also a good mix of super fit and average-level fitness folks, men and women. The only downside is that its not meant for people totally out of shape, you might just faint! Give it a shot. Its a great place, owned by a very nice couple, and the boxing pros are great coaches. read more

I love this place! Everyone is very friendly and helpful. You get the best workouts here while learning a ton! Bare Bones is the best gym I've ever been too nothing can beat it. it has helped me kick my depression and feel better about myself. It has helped be control my anger. If I'm having a bad day Bare Bones is the only place I want to be. Everyone there treats eachother like family. All the instructors and staff are a major reason why I look forward to coming.
