The part I struggle with most is finding motivation. Brent helps to inspire me and get me pumped for workouts. His energy is awesome!

My traditional gym workout has gotten so boring so I tried the boxing class. I feel comfortable pushing myself, or not doing so, without pressure from the instructors; we all go at our own pace with "encouragement" from the instructor. Clayton is very welcoming, Anthony's class had more boxing tips which was something I want, and even though Amber kicked my behind in her class, I left smiling. The music is perfect (shout out to Anthony with the Bad Bunny) as well. As a healthy man in his 50's, I was nervous (my skinny ass in a BOXING gym??) but I did not need to be. From the minute I walked in I felt comfortable. Super nice people in the classes as well (some very fit, others just doing their best to get a workout). Someday hoping to get real boxing classes but for now the classes are just perfect. A lot of fun, stress reliever, and a GREAT workout.

The coaches here are amazing but the biggest downfall is that the owner has absolutely no ability…read moreto provide customer service and is argumentative with anyone who enters the doors. I walked in and looked at a fellow member and literally said "she's likely going to yell at me"... my peer said "yeah me too!" She will likely respond that she is not at fault, however her inability to genuinely smile and say hello, answer a question without demonstrating irritation and complete inability to communicate with the public has caused me to both leave this facility and now tell others of my poor experience. She needs a desk person who cares about her members and can demonstrate kindness and she needs to stay behind the scenes and not be seen. Rude, disrespectful and just a horrible representation of the great coaches she has who hold that place up!

I went as part of a team bonding event and we thoroughly enjoyed getting our butts kicked by Gina herself!! I can't promise that the class we took is representative of their normal offerings, but it was intense! Our workout consisted of a warmup with battleropes, a HIIT style workout where we alternated between exercises on TRX bands and kettlebells, a cardio blast involving tag team sprinting and wall sits, and concluded with partner ab workouts using medicine balls and leg raises. I loved the energy, the music and the compact space. For the ladies, I also want to say that Gina is so thoughtful and hospitable! She had all sorts of personal care items, from lotion and tissues to hair ties and female hygiene products! Apologies to those to whom this info is not relevant, but I really felt that this level of care and detail taken to equip the bathroom was worth noting. Thanks Gina for an awesome time and a much needed Saturday morning sweat sesh! If I lived in South Windsor, I would make Gina's Total Fitness my go-to gym for sure!

Visited here a few times as a guest of a member. This is a great gym for people who compete. When…read moreyou visit, you will mostly see & hear the bodybuilders. If you go downstairs, they have pictures of the legends & some of their locals who train at Club Fitness. There are "regular" work out people as well but, the professionals obviously stand out. The selection of equipment is abundant & everyone is friendly so don't be scared to ask if they're done with a machine. This gym also has a female only room, & other rooms that cater to a specific workout, such as abs, legs, etc. They also have a punching bag which is rare to find. The main floor is where you can find the cardio machines. These aren't the latest & greatest, but they get the job done. Make sure you have some headphones to keep you motivated. I haven't tried an aerobics session yet. I usually attend in the evenings. I can say the cycle class is popular. What bothers me about this gym is the amount of paper towel dispensers & how you obtain the sanitizer. The paper towels are hard to find & are scarce. The sanitizer, you need to grab a bottle from the front desk & basically keep it with you. On busy days, they aren't always visually available & you may have to ask someone to bower theirs. Also, people don't always return them to the desk, so you may have to search around the floor. Also, I suggest wiping down the machine or weights before using them. Some people jump between them, going back & forth & they don't wipe them down until they're completely done. So if you're not aware, you may use something in between their workout. Gotta be careful with covid. The mask situation is still in effect here. Wear it while walking around. The staff are very friendly if you're friendly to them. I haven't had any issues & the member I go with is constantly joking around with all the staff. They don't press you to become a member either, which is nice. Guests pay $10 & free on Fridays. The restrooms are always clean. I haven't used the showers, so can't comment too much, but they look clean. If I lived in the area or a Club Fitness near me, I'd join.

**spinning class review**…read more I came here Richard's spin class, and it was epic. I've taken a ton of spinning classes in CT and NYC, and Richard's was my favorite. His song selection and choreography (if that's the right word?) was totally on point. Even though I was exhausted after one song, I was so excited to find out what the next song and challenge would be. And somehow I managed to keep up the pace and enthusiasm throughout the hour long class, mainly because he had the energy and excitement to keep the full class going. The room itself was amazingly well ventilated despite not having any windows. The bikes were really comfortable and had a great seat. The bikes include clips as well as the ability to use sneakers. Walking through the gym before and after the class, I could tell quickly that Club Fitness focuses on weight training above cardio. There's plenty of cardio machines, but the way the gym was set-up lends itself more to a weight lifting crowd. While the equipment is packed, it does not feel too crowded. Gym includes a smoothie bar in the back as well as tanning rooms. If I wasn't already locked into a gym, I'd think about switching just for Richard's spinning classes.

This has been my Crossfit gym for about 2 and a half years. What I love about Crossfit is that you…read moreshow up and do the work of the day (WOD) it kicks your a$$ for an hour and then you go home. You don't have to think or get creative; they do it for you. It works different muscle groups and never gets boring. This gym has some really great coaches, Glenn and Tobi are my favorites. They don't push you to a breaking point, or bark at you like a drill sargent. They will come up with all sorts or modifications based on what medical conditions you may be dealing with (knee problems, back problems, recovering from surgery etc...) class size ranges from 3 people to 20 depending on peak times of the year. Classes are avialable 5am, 6am, 7am then 430pm, 530, 630 pm Monday - Friday . Limited morning classes on the weekends 9 and 10am. The actual times vary slightly based on the day of the week. The downside is I don't really like to exercise so I usually go once or twice a week. My husband goes 4 to 6 times a week and he has blown past me in his progress. The gym is kept clean and the owner is continually working to improve and upgrade aspects like the new ski-machines, assault bikes and flooring, the bathrooms and the kids area etc. My least favorite thing is that some of the loyal-every day members have their kids running all around the gym space. This is despite the owners attempts to post on our group Facebook that this shouldn't be happening. I worry one of them will get hurt and they will turn around and sue the gym. I can't speak for other Cross fit "boxes" places but I hear from other long time crossfitters that this gym is something really special.

Although I have only had my first official "check in" today" I have been a member of this "Box"…read moresince November and I freaking love it! Part of the Relentless Nation (there are 3 other locations in West Hartford, South Windsor, and Higganum) - my Box has become a place for me to develop strength that I have not seen in a while. At first I was not sure what to expect. I, like many, had heard the stories of "crazy crossfitters" lifting heavy sh*t with their sexualized lingo (WOD, snatch, double unders) and not feeling like they got a good workout in unless they puked. WHAT?? As a runner by passion - I know pain and discomfort and if you ask Mark C - I am a bit crazy so since I was looking to switch things up during my "off season" I thought I would give it a go. Worst case scenario - I hated it or worse pulled something and that would be the end of my Crossfit experience. Plus I had heard that Crossfit had helped runners increase their speed - and I am all for that! I sent an e mail to the owner to ask about 033 and we set up a time for me to come a try it out. When I arrived I was warmly greeted by Patryk, signed a waiver and basically "thrown in" with the others :) Honestly it was better than that - I was introduced and then we got down to business - warm up, modalities, strength, WOD and cool down were explained and then we were off. I know some other Boxes have newbies go through a fundamentals class but I did not. The first day I was like a fish out of water but the instructor scaled my workout and the other participants were friendly and offered advice. I went home and the next morning I woke up sore in places I had not been in a while - and I went back for more! The instructors have been great and always are there for a spot, provide some extra instruction and sometimes just yell when you might want to give up during a WOD. My consistency has paid off as now I have a routine and the instructors have come to expect me on certain days. I also have to say that everyone I have met - from the new newbies to the veterans could not be nicer. At first I was a little intimidated but this has helped to push me and dare I say look up You Tube videos at night so that I have some clue as to what we are doing the next day in class. That is another great thing about is that one of the owners posts the next day's workout on their Facebook page - its been a great way to psych myself up (and You Tube) for what lies ahead. I have been a member for about 2 months now and am so glad I signed up. It has provided me with a challenge not only to my muscles but to my mind as well. My conversation with Mark C still includes running but now he has to learn all this new lingo - much of which I am still learning myself. But its been a learning experience - and a path I have been happy (and sore) to embark on!

I have been training with Greg for over a year... He is by far the best trainer I have ever worked…read moreout with! He is constantly thinking of different ways to work my muscles. Greg is the first trainer who not only made me lose weight but he has changed my body. The gains I have made are remarkable and for the first time in my 32 years I can honestly say, I love my figure! Definitely go to Fitbody Personal Training!!!

I have never written a review before, but feel compelled to do so after completing about 50…read moretraining sessions with Greg at Fitbody over the past 5 months. About me: 41 years old, male, college athlete (rowing), 25 years experience lifting weights. I'm 6'5" and weighed about 210 lbs. when I started at Fitbody. Greg is the first personal trainer I have ever worked with. Fitbody is located on the second floor of a commercial building in Avon, CT. It is clean and private. There are a wide variety of dumbbells, weighted balls, resistance bands, mats, and benches. There is also a Smith Machine with plenty of plates for presses and squats. Lots of natural light and good music to motivate you. Having never worked with a trainer before, I wasn't sure what to expect from Greg. Whatever expectations I had going in, Greg exceeded them. First, Greg is extremely professional: he is accommodating when it comes to scheduling workouts; always on time; always prepared when I enter the gym; never on his cell phone or distracted with other things; completely focused on me and my workout. Second, he is knowledgeable: he explains the purpose of every exercise, varies workouts to keep things challenging, and introduced many new exercises to my routine. Third, Greg is motivating: he has a positive attitude; compliments me when I work hard or show improvement; pushes me when he sees that I'm dogging it; and makes difficult workouts more fun. The workouts are challenging. Each session, we focus on a specific body part: for me, the split is as follows: (1) chest, (2) biceps, (3) shoulders, (4) back, (5) triceps, and (6) legs. We usually do 4 sets of various exercises focused on the applicable body part (i.e. on chest day we may do incline bench press, dumbbell press, push-ups, and cable flys). Between sets is where the real fun happens- rather than rest, Greg has me perform various plyometric exercises like running up and down stairs, pushing a weighted sled, jumping on and off a bench, hitting the punching bag, etc. The cumulative effect is exhausting but very effective. Every workout concludes with some abdominal work. There is a tremendous feeling of accomplishment after each workout that I appreciate almost as much as the gains I have made. Greg has provided me with an opportunity to work hard and feel good about my effort and progress. And I have definitely made great progress, especially when I worked with Greg on my diet. I have lost 20 lbs. over the course of about 5 months- I'm now 190 lbs. and 10% body fat. I can see veins in my abs, arms, chest, and shoulders. At 41 years old, I don't think I've ever looked this good. I am proud of my body and the progress I've made while working with Greg at Fitbody It took me a while to pick up the phone and call Greg to schedule my first workout, but I'm really glad that I did. I highly recommend Fitbody. I hope this review was helpful.
