I was experiencing a continuous back ache for a few weeks due to long work hours and lack of sleep…read more I've tried everything: pills, regular massages, warm showers but with no improvement. I've heard about Dayna's unique massage methods from some of my friends so I decided to give a chance, nothing was helping anyway. The massage was approximately 45 minutes long, during which Dayna had used SuVeda Myaxyl oil and Ksheerabala oil. I was so surprised that what multiple methods of treatment couldn't solve, a more holistic approach is what made the difference! I felt like a brand new person, my back pain was gone and I couldn't be more thankful. Definitely a 5* for me!

Nevertheless, I had a very relaxing experience. I left the oil on my body and head for 3- 4 hrs and then took a nice shower. It was extremely satisfying. Also, she takes payment by Venmo - loved it. :) The reason why I gave 4 star and not 5, is because Dayna has softer touch than I prefer. I like deep tissue with oil. I asked her if she can go harder, and she politely answered that she cannot and that is not her style. I am in search of an Ayurvedic massage therapist, who has bit more stronger hands. If I don't find one, I will be going back to Dayna.

Sadly this studio is a little too far out of my way to be my home studio. That makes me a little…read moresad because the space is incredible. Admittedly I am always nervous when going to New Haven because I never know where to park, which door to go in, which floor to go to, etc. However, the Breathing Room website is EXTREMELY helpful and lists all of the parking options and fees (including the lot right next to the building for only $3). I was there for a 3 day workshop and I had a great time. We were in the aerial studio (although the hammocks were hung up and out of the way) and it was really clean, there were tons of props and the windows and brick were so lovely. There are also plenty of bathrooms, changing areas, a couple of large sitting areas, tons of tasteful retail (shirts, yoga pants, jewelry, essential oils, mala beads, etc), a water bottle filling fountain, and hot tea in little cups is always available. There are 3 yoga rooms, all with their own personalities and lots of cubbies for storing things while you're taking classes. Although I didn't get a chance to visit this time around, there's also a float center that I've heard great things about. I haven't taken classes yet with any of the BR instructors, but I have heard only positive things from the students who have that I'm dying to come back to try some of them! The people who work at the reception desk are all very friendly and helpful and the owner Margot is very welcoming and has created an amazing space with great energy. This place is a true gem!

I had only ever done yoga from YouTube videos until about a month ago. Then I decided to just go…read morefor it and get the unlimited 2-week new student package, and I have been going for at least 5 days a week since. I was a little intimidated at first, but all of the people there have such varied experience - from beginner to advanced. The classes are non-judgmental and the teachers encourage you to do what's comfortable. They have "consent chips" that you can flip over if you're not comfortable with the teacher adjusting your posture. I do think the class descriptions might be a little misleading. Form and Flow was my first class ever and I could hardly keep up. The classes that are for "all experience levels" sometimes require at least a little bit of knowledge of the poses in order to do what you're supposed to do. Other than that, I think it's safe to say that I'm obsessed.

Fresh Yoga was the first and remains the best yoga studio in New Haven. Every class is great, you…read moredon't have to worry about which teacher is teaching when...just show up and get a great class. I also love that they offer sliding scale fees...it makes yoga accessible much more broadly. It's a very welcoming place without all the frills that can make yoga intimidating for first timers. Whether you are an established yogi or a first timer, Fresh is a great place to practice!

I started practicing yoga over 18 years ago, after a move from Florida to Connnecticut in 2006, I…read morewas keyed into Fresh yoga by a more local yoga teacher at a smaller studio that soon ended up closing. Even back in 2006, finding Fresh was one of the best things that came out of my 9 years spent in that part of Connecticut. Fresh started as one studio and after a short duration of having 2 studios, is back to one. Erector Square is large, clean, comfortable and easy access off the highway with parking that is easy and no additional cost. Fresh always had tremendous diversity and that has been one of its greatest assets. Whether you want a high intensity, strength based class, a gentle flowing class, or more restorative option, there is something there for you if not today, tomorrow. Teachers are highly trained and unique in getting pose cues and placement tips across to students. They are (in "normal times") great with hands on adjustments but also respect everyone's personal preference and almost all with ask permission before offering physical adjustments. There is overall excellent knowledge of injury warnings and appropriate modification offerings. After I left the area in 2017, I lost "contact" with my favorite studio, but I never found anything even near to its caliber. I completed 3 teacher trainings at Fresh as well as did a year long mentorship with the owner. I was blessed by chance, in this time of cyber class offerings only to return to "class" at Fresh and am only more impressed than I had been over 10 years ago. I love that classes are offered at 3 different price levels to allow for spending what you feel classes are worth but also to balance not being too strapping on a limited budget. The teaching has progressed amazingly and just the voiced cues on Zoom classes help me feel better positioning and adjustment in my body. Over the past week, I've done 2 Forrest yoga classes, a core connection class, a Fresh flow class, 2 very different vinyasa classes ( no more sun salutations AD NAUSEUM at this place!) 2 very different Yin classes and a Yoga Tune up class! What more can I say. I am excited to return to the studio when its up and running again. I just wanted to post a stellar review online in this down time because these virtual classes so inspired my desire to take up yoga seriously again!

Polefly is essentially where I fell in love with the art of pole and Jess has set a standard for instruction that I've looked for in every studio I've attended since. She is highly technical and understands the mechanics of the body in a way that makes you feel really safe while you practice here. Poling can be scary but I never felt worried about injury at Polefly because Jess is very thoughtful and careful, she plans the lessons around you and your body, meeting you where you're at while still challenging you to try your best and push yourself a little more each time. Despite all of her extensive experience and technical prowess, Jess never makes you feel less than. So much of poling is as much mental as it is physical, and this space always feels and felt safe, supportive, and affirming. I grew so much here and I am so sad there are so many miles between me and this lovely space these days and always look forward to my next visit back. Thank you, Jess, for everything you do to make this space wonderful. Also: get here early, people. Sometimes the walk up the stairs is long.

Our group is very uncoordinated but we still had a really great time learning some moves and getting some exercise. The studio is clean and kept up well and Jess is a great and encouraging instructor and doesn't make you feel like an idiot (even if you know you're looking like one!). I can't speak to the normal classes here but would highly recommend booking a private event for a special birthday surprise or bachelorette weekend!
