I cancel my membership in person and the staff told my membership is cancelled then after 5 months or more I found out that my membership is still active.They charge me for those months that I thought was cancelled.I asked if I can refund my money but the manager that I called on the phone said I cannot. I told them It's not my mistake but they refused to refund my money.The lady just told me to go to the nearest fitness system on my location and cancel it again. I told them they can review the visits because they have the tag that scans your entry to the gym.They never even issue me a tag. do not join this gym if you are interested in group fitness classes. They cancel them without notice. and when I tried to cancel a membership on the 3rd of the month they tell me I have to pay for another month! But they can cancel classes with no warning. They definitely do not listen to their members and what they want. not everyone wants to do Zumba and lift weights! no interest in the needs of the senior members and what they want. I payed a cancellation fee to cancel my membership in December and I have been charged a membership fee January, February, and I just got charged for March today. I have been to the gym a total of 5 times in two months with my cancelation receipt and every single time I go there is NEVER a manager and when a staff member helps me they just take a picture of the receipt and then send it to their "manager". When they look up my account EVERY SINGLE TIME it says I am still an active member even though I cancelled in December. I spoke to Ashley the district manager today and she told me that she has nothing on file of my cancelation so I asked her if I could speak to someone higher up she told me I can not contact anyone above her and there is no number or email she could give me. I am livid and I'm going find a way to report them because they have taken over $100 dollars out of my bank account over 3 months and I have not received a penny back because apparently they can't give me a cash refund . I'm telling every single person I know not to go to this joke of an establishment. read more

Enough equipment to maintain a good workout pace even when its a bit crowded. Many exercise options other than weights. I have been to 24-hour, In-Shape, and many others. Every time it have ever been a member at a gym, it is usually ran by younger, snotty girls. I hate that. Fitness System does have younger employees, but they are all very nice and helpful. They never mind answering questions or taking concerns to upper management. They are very respectable. The membership cost here is very cheap for what you are getting, and they have "no contract" memberships which is good for someone like me who has to move a lot due to work. It isn't a hassle to sign up or cancel like most gyms, and you don't get charged a fee. They also have tanning beds, sauna, steam room, and group classes such as yoga and spin class. I would recommend this gym to those living in Lodi or those passing through for a bit. read more

My family and I have been coming to Fitness Systems for over five years now. We chose this gym for the same reasons then that exist now. Open 24/7, friendly, helpful and knowledgable staff, free childcare and free towel service. My husband loves the basketball court, and the plentiful weight floor. I love the free childcare and free aerobics classes. With some of the best instructors around, I was inspired to become a certified personal trainer and aerobics instructor. I appreciate everything this gym stands for and has to offer. A complete lifting gym, plus so much more. My kids have grown up here, I have made amazing progress with my clients, as well as myself. I have been a member here for almost a year now. I did not get to use there facilities for long as I had a change in jobs and moved to Monterey. However the equipment was great even if the bathrooms were a bit run down. The problem arose when I attempted to close the account and cancel my membership. They won't close an account without me being in person. So they want me to drive 3+ hours to Lodi to close the account? That's not happening. I have sent emails, asked for managers and nothing. The managers don't return calls and emails go ignored. This is simple. I want my account closed as I don't and have not used it in months. They are the most money hungry company I have ever seen with really shady tactics. Not allowing someone that moved 200 miles away to close an account over the phone? What if I moved across the country? I recommend avoiding this fitness center at all cost because if there inability to respond and billing practices. Worst gym in Lodi poor service dirty environment. Went to sign up an check out the facility and almost called the code enforcement. Child care was over capacity with one staff member overwhelmed. Gym was nasty no ventilation no one walking around cleaning machines. Staff members behind the counter texting and socializing with each other rather than the customers. Nice gym...good equipment at the times I went I didn't have to wait much for use of equipment...basketball courts are nice. Don't sign up expecting to play pick up games daily as they close it for other activities at times( times are noted) and also I know it's nothing the gym can control but the players there are very "clicky". Unless you know people you will be at the end of the wait and the people in front of you will pick up players who have just played... again nothing the gym can do. Tried canceling my wife's membership for lack of use but was still being charged. Even got a voicemail in June from the gym asking me if I was interested in re-signing with them but was still being charged. Called them to cancel my membership along with my wife's this time because I felt that what they did was wrong and was told that someone from corporate would call me back regarding a possible refund but didn't receive a call. Next month found that my account was still being charged and still have not received a phone call so I called them again to find out that they would not refund my membership as I didn't have a cancellation receipt. I walked into the gym to cancel my membership but was not offered a receipt as everything is computerized now(yet was asked if I had a receipt for proof of cancellation) so I had to ask the manager to write me a receipt. I finally got a call from corporate today the day after I went in and was offered a refund for last month as there was a bit of confusion.... I only wanted to cancel my wife's membership and get reimbursed for what was wrongly charged to me but for lack of customer service I had to cancel mine as well. I thought being honest would help with my situation but they knew the right things to say to make it seem like it was my fault (or at least not theirs). Overall I had a good experience with their equipment and using the gym until I needed help. Better off going somewhere else where they treat you like members not lying trash. read more

The price they charge is one of the most expensive in town. They add a service fee without notification or approval so be ready to pay 100$ on your membership at some random time. They play the worst music I have ever heard at a gym, not motivating at all. The owners won't even listen to it when they work out lmao but force members who have a partner to. Don't know about you but I want to talk to the person I'm working out with but apparently they don't lol. Also when you try to cancel they force you to pay for an extra month and you have to cancel on the first of the month or they charge you for 2 more months. They site a 30 day notice for canceling which is fine, but I went in on the 3rd and had to pay for the next 57 days. They seemingly do not care that some people don't have the time to come in on the 1st. A 30 day notice is a 30 day notice, they need to prorate to accommodate different lifestyles. I would have not even done this review if they would have just charged me for the 3 extra days. Also as others have stated on reviews of this place it is very cliquey. If your not one of the owners or trainers friends you get treated differently regardless of what they say. The basketball court is rarely available due to them renting it out for different programs. Overall the value they provide does not match the price they charge. You can get a membership at twin arbors for almost half and you get access to a pool and basketball and they have an awesome area for the kids and it's free. read more

I had a very negative experience with this gym. I'll take some of the fault as my own but I'm pretty surprised that this company would take advantage of people in the way they took advantage of me. I signed up for a month by month service with them in April. The girl signing me up was definitely high school aged and did not provide all of the details of the membership. She did not explain that the gym continues to auto deduct monthly premiums nor did she explain the 30 day cancellation policy. My fault however because I should have read the paper I signed end to end. I went to the gym for one month and stopped going. I have a newborn, went back to work in may full time and go to school. They auto withdrew for may, I thought well that sucks I didn't want to pay that but oh well. Following that, I had an issue with fraud on my bank card so had cancelled it. I figured, they can't auto draw and that should end my membership since it's month by month. Well I get a call a week ago about fees. So I find out that I'm racking a bill with them for may $49, June $49 a maintenance fee $49, plus fees for my bank card have been cancelled. I pay the maintenance and ask if I can have may and June refunded. I'm waiting for a call back when I get another call about my bill. They tell me they aren't looking into a refund. So I explain the situation thinking it should be no big deal to refund me may and June since I haven't been there since April and paid the maintenance fee. I got cut off multiple times when explaining this and told it's all in the contract you signed. I explained that when I signed up I didn't realize that's what I was signing up for and still they don't budge. So I ask if I can cancel to not continue to rack up fees and they tell me I have to come in person to cancel and pay outstanding fees. This makes me mad because I'm now at $70+ owed after paying $98 already. So I go in to cancel and I'm told I also have to pay for July because they require a 30 day notice. They waive the fees for bank return but in all I paid from april-July plus $49 maintenance fee totaling $245. I only used 1 month of the membership. So needless to say, I find this company to be very greedy. I understand that I should've read what I signed and take fault for that but people also make mistakes and to take advantage of me is unethical. read more

I love love love our gym. The free weights are great (my personal favorite spot to be ) and the treadmills are amazing. Older to new and the newer treadmills incline to 30%. They also have large flat screens all over the gym to watch while my wife and I walk, run or climb while getting our cardio on. The staff is amazing, always there to help with showing us proper form or how to use a machine and of course to answer any questions we might have. Great stretch room for warming up and a huge basketball court with a nice side station with boxing equipment(weight bags,etc.)! Go check it out for yourself. I've been a member here for a while now and recently cancelled my membership. The gym has great equipment but I gave it a low score because of the way the gym is kept up. The equipment is not very clean. I always wipe my machines down but I shouldn't have to really clean them. The tread mills can be really dirty at times. They have tanning beds for an additional fee but make sure you clean the beds before you use them. I can't stress this enough! I was told by their maintenance person that he hasn't shown their people how to clean them properly. On my last visit, I used the stand up tanning booth. I wiped down the floor of the booth before I used it because they never clean it. The floor was filthy! I can't imagine stepping in barefoot. The towel and cleaner they gave me to clean it was dark when I got done. Yes I was on my knees cleaning the floor of the tanning booth ( doing their job). There was hair (both long and pubic) around edges of the booth. I shared this information with both the maintenance person and Ashley, the manager and neither one of them said one word about it. No apology, no "we'll take care of that", nothing. The manager didn't seem to care about me cancelling because of this. There is a difference between something getting a little dirty and something being unsanitary. That is a health issue and unacceptable for a health club. I did like working out here but when the staff isn't concerned about the cleanliness then I'm out. read more

The staff only helps and give great customer service to certain individuals not everyone, the staff to my observance is rude and if your not in the "click" they will shun you off. The owner for years has been trying to update the faculty but it seems to always be off the mark. The machines seem to look as if they were bought from a used store or brought from Good Will. I just don't understand why some individuals just walk in with no id and I HAVE TO SIGN IN every time. During the day most the machines are occupied, and hard to find parking. As soon as I walked in this gym I knew it was going to be exactly for me! I was greeted and offered a tour. The young lady showed me everything. She was very nice and had A LOT of information. Yes, the building is older, but that doesnt bother me much as long as it's clean, which it was. I'm not one for group exercise but they offer a lot at convenient times. I think the major highlight was the hours, open 24/7 because i work early mornings and like to get a workout before work. All in all I've been a member now for about a year, I walk in and am greeted by name, get a great workout in and that's what I look for in a gym. read more

Was working in town for 6 weeks and wanted to pay cash for the two months but they needed my CC on file. I paid the fee and then when i cancelled it they charged me a early cancellation fee. I then continued to be charged monthly for the next 4 months. I called each month and at first they wanted me to come in again to cancel in person. I explained I lived 1200 miles away and that was impossible. They then made an exception to cancel it not refunding me any money. I then continued to get 3 months of charges and called each time, still no refund. Taylor the manager said she would get it refunded me. Again another charge in September and I called getting another manager who new nothing of the issues and said it was cancelled and is refusing to refund the money. I have filed a complaint with the BBB of CA and I will be contacting local law enforcement for charging CC for fraudulent charges on my card. I have asked to speak with owners and Taylor's manager says they don't like to be bothered. read more

Ok, So I feel like I have enough experience with this gym to actually write a review. I have been going to this place since 2008. Before The current owners took over, the place was gross. It was always dirty, and frequently there were homeless people sleeping in the locker rooms. (true story). Since the new owners took over many things have changed. I will say that the place is much cleaner than it was before. There is newer equipment but it does seem to be in a constant state of dis-repair. Perhaps the biggest problem is the lack of direction that this place has. Every day there is some new "ghetto" marketing campaign to get new business. My favorite uneducated one was "whether it be gas in the tank" what??? What the hell does that mean? This is a business, act like one! It's kinda like the Hot dog place that opened up on kettleman and church last year that is now closed. At first it was HOT DOGS, then a month later after nobody went, they put up a sign that said "now serving breakfast", then a month later "check out our flavors of ice cream" then a month later. (well there was no month later because they went out of business). There is a very offensive poster right when you walk in the door and that is sure to chase any full figured person wanting to better themselves right back out. The poster talks about how Your fat and you will get diabetes and it will cost you a lot of money , blah blah blah, (implying that working out will save you money) very offensive. I just dont understand. The rumour is they are trying to get new, upscale clientelle, but they seem to have no clue how to go about it. Thank god they have a sign posted in the lobby saying they now offer bootcamp in spanish? What the hell is that? I like this place, but it's not a place that a new person would feel at home. (in my opinion) . Lately they have put up all of these motivational posters on the wall, Not framed mind you, just stapled to the wall.. My favorite one is the one at the end of the locker rooms titled "success" the irony is it's stapled to the wall completely crooked? Success! LOL Oh, lets talk about the towels. They talk about the fact that they offer free towels for working out, which they do. However, in order to get a one you have to trade them your car keys. The real problem here is that they then take your car keys and hang them on a peg board right behind the counter. In theory when you leave you give them the towel and they hand you your keys. ( it's a great theory, but thats not what happens). What happens is that 50% of the time nobody is behind the desk and I have watched repeatedly customers reaching over the desk to grab car keys, so you can see how easy it would be to grab any keys you want. Totally stupid, Totally not safe, and Totally juvenile to have to trade your cars keys for a ratty towel. A little about the current clientelle: As with any gym, there is good and bad people. There are still yucky people there and of course there is no shortage of the ridiculous people that grunt and scream when they lift weights, just begging for attention. (but thats not the gym it's just the people). "Hey look at me, I know I am not lifting much weight, but I sure can make noise " LOL The saddest thing for me is that there are people there, that were members when I joined all those years ago, and they still look aweful? I dont understand why do the work if you are not going to get the results? You cant do treadmill cardio and doughnut cardio at the same time? It doesnt work. Oh yeah, and then there is barefoot yoga bob who feels it is ok to walk around the entire gym barefoot using the equipment. GROSS.. (although he does use hand sanitizer when he is done if that makes any sesne)? The gym also has some amazing people that I look forward to seeing everyday and somehow find my life enriched just from knowing them. Look, the bottom line is, the new owners are nice people, but out of all of their properties, this seems to be the one that they like the least. It's a huge improvement over fitness systems past, but they came in full steam ahead and went 75% of the way and then simply stopped. Again, I like this place, for me it's better then the big corporate gyms, but without the strict structure of a corporate gym, kinda leaves it open to You get what you pay for... I am not saying dont try it, Just know it's structured more like someones hobby almost as it they had built a gym in their garage, as opposed to a proper gym. but hey.. it works for me, and I like the entertainment value. Pros: 1. Much cleaner 2. More attentive staff 3. Newer equipment Cons: 1. overpriced 2. frequently broken equipment 3. confusing marketing and offensive signage Updated 12/16/14 Fitness systems has responded. Sadly, just like all their other responses. They don't address any concerns just use as an opportunity to market their club. So sad they don't realize it makes them look so BAD!! read more

As a lifter, this gym has all of the free weights I need for a good work out. Everything is clean and organized and I love the environment. I have always had great customer service and never a problem with any other members. The reason for 4 stars is that they always seem to be doing construction or upgrading. Even though that is a good thing, it gets in the way some times. But awesome gym over all! read more

I've worked out at this gym for over five years now. I've witness it make such a huge transformation. Not only do I workout here but I also used to work here. Being apart of the staff and the family at fitness system has been one of the best life experiences that I've gone through. The staff is always helpful and nice. There's a great staff of instructors and trainers. The best thing about this gym is its not a corporation it has a home feel to it which I love. I've worked for corporation gyms so I've witness both sides first hand and if your concerned about a $40 processing fee have fun paying over $100 for your club processing fee that goes straight to the sales reps pocket not toward your membership. No ones success or progress is anyone's business but there own that has nothing to do with the integrity of the gym. Physically I am where I am today because of this gym. I've been honored to work here and make a transformation from a skinny in confident person to an aesthetic NPC competitor and fitness model. I owe all my success to this gym. 5 stars all the way!! Me and a friend went to this gym today. There was an attendee their on her second day of work by yourself running the gym. We ask if we could try for today and asked how much for a week. It was 15 a day or 25 for 7 days. We asked if it had to be 7 days in a row? She stated NO every time you visit we will check it off. We go start our workout and go back to ask for a towel and the attendee says she made a mistake that it has to be 7 days in a row. I ask for my monies back and the attendee called her Manager Ashley who informed her that their is NO REFUNDS! The attendee inform the manager that she had given the wrong information out to us and still NO REFUND! Since this was her 2nd day the attendee didn't know how to charge and my card was not charged but my friends card was. He paid 25 for one day... The is unprofessional, dirty and the advertisement pic they show is of the Sacramento facility not Lodi which does not look nothing alike.
