I've been a member here about 3 days now and I'm pretty in love with Fitness System. The staff is consistently nice, I think the prices are good and the amenities are phenomenal. Sure, the aesthetics may be a little dated but honestly I really enjoy the old school look. Gyms shouldn't be superfluous. My gripes are pretty straight forward. The locker room is small, which isn't a big deal. The sauna is co-ed though, which does suck because the rules do not allow for beach attire. I wish management would reconsider this, but in the meantime it is what it is. If I were to truly nitpick I would say there's a little to be desired on the cleanliness side. Putting up some cheap little flags at the cleaning stations would make them easier to find, which would hopefully encourage others to take care of the equipment too by keeping it clean. Other than that, a little dusting would go a long way. In conclusion, I think Fitness System is great and I'm excited to stick with them. read more

a group of us had purchased gym passes so we could utilize the basketball court. on other occasions we have had several individuals both working out, boxing, and some playing basketball. There is a trainer here named John that takes up machines for hours and doesn't use them. This bag is sitting at a machine every day for more than 2 hours. The staff refuses to teach this person gym etiquette. Use one machine then clean it up so others can use it. I've also seen him harass people in the gym with really old and outdated gym tactics that will most likely lead to injured shoulders. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When they don't do what he's told them previously then he will come up again and repeat they are doing it wrong.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I have also seen this trainer try to correct other trainers during their sessions which is extremely unprofessional. This is a well equipped gym. They have free weights, weight machines, a small but functional cross fit area, sauna, basketball, cardio machines, etc... you name it they have it. Some issue are that the lighting is very poor, the wood in the sauna is a bacterial nightmare, and the bathrooms offer limited privacy. You can look right through the men's bathroom and the women's showers might as well be in the hallway for all to see naked bodies, not cool. The most annoying thing are those obnoxious billboards advertising local businesses all around the gym. I don't get that. There you are trying to get through a tough set and what you see on most of the walls is someone trying to sell you something. I wish they would replace all those advertisement posters with posters and or murals of the classics and current bodybuilding and fitness champions. I highly doubt people want to be sold products while they are straining to push weight. That sucks. It makes you not want to go to the gym especially if you're tiered and would like to step into an environment that can get you motivated and out of a slump. After no previous issues of PAYING just to play basketball here, a bunch of friends of mine and I were informed we couldn't continue playing how we usually due despite it never being a problem or an issue bought up to us. Firt review and felt it was necessary. First off, great gym. Plenty of space and equipment. It does get a little busy in the evenings but I normally get in there around 0430 so it's not so bad. Like others, billing can be a bit off. Billing cycle is the 1st of every month. I came in July 2nd (29th day) to give my 30 day notice and was charged for August as well. I did sign a contract so I paid it no questions asked. I just felt a little leniency could have been applied here. This isn't a huge chain style gym and don't feel they need to treat it as one. For that I gave 3 stars. Being 1 day late on my 30 day notice and still charging me for an additional month is a bit shady. I have read plenty of other reviews regarding the cancelation of a membership but didn't expect this. read more

they didn't explained terms to teenage boys that joined gym including my grandson. he canceled membership two months ago due to no time with work and school. He lost his wallet had to get new I.D. and wallet and today noticed on his online Banking me primary they charge him at barely turned 17 a $190,12. I called them they said because employee never had him sign paper's nothing they can do. Go anywhere else. This gym has lots of rules posted but enforces none of them. People have cameras out and on tripods constantly. Weights are never out back. Kids running around and messing with equipment. This gym is amazing. My hobby is ultramarathons on mountains and rough trails. The gym has everything I need to stay in shape for them. Kelsey, Rhonda and staff are great. I've never been a gym person really but the culture here is very comfortable. Staff is always cleaning equipment. Great value to IMO considering it's loaded with equipment. People leaving their items on equipment for hours on end while creepily staring at underaged girls, then you should see John! Never trust a grown man with a ponytail! $100 a year maintenance fee while nothing is maintained, this is the place for you. Become one of the "trained", and you'll look the same, just poorer from waisting your money. Make sure to put your dumbbells in the wrong weight section at all times, leave your food containers everywhere on equipment (that silly jake), and don't ever bother going to the front for assistance because they're never there! I had a membership for about six months. Every single time I came there, there was no trainer present, the machines were all filthy, looked like the sweat & body scum hadn't been washed or even scraped off in a year. Every single time but once, they claimed they had no clean towels, and also claimed that the plumbing was broken down, so no water, hot or cold, for showers! The one time the showers worked, the matt's, tile walls & floors were covered in a slippery slime! But they always refused to give me a refund! I finally said enough of this crap, and cancelled me membership! Wish I did that my first day of my membership!!! But when I tried to cancel, they kept billing for nearly two more months! This gym has become refuge for me. I go in at the same time as a lot of people everyday, everyone in it trains hard, the community of members are very friendly, and the staff is great. Every day feels like I'm walking into a dojo with people that have a common goal. On top of that, the equipment that Sean and Holly chose to use at Fitness Systems is TRUE strengthening equipment--no frilly machines that promote "just going through the motions". They really put thought into the equipment that matters when it comes to building muscle. If you're new to fitness-- don't let this place intimate you. The community is great. This gym is great to work out in! Seeing all the big guys workout motivates me to add more volume and intensity to my workout and it really sets a mood for the whole workout. I love that it's 24 hours so your workout can take place any time. My only complaints are the heat in the summer (but it wasn't terrible I could live with it), the bathrooms being a little messy, and the crowd during peak hours. I recommend asking to hop in if you want to use a piece of equipment. Another great thing is that the staff is very nice (shout out to Dallas) and they can answer your questions or provide service at a moments notice. overall it's a great place I would rate it at 8/10, its above average in my honest opinion. read more

Love the gym it's never too crowded and they have everything I need to have a good workout. My only problem is every time I want to go into the POSING room people are always stretching or doing some workout infront of the mirror. Wouldn't be a problem if the room was bigger or if it wasn't the only spot in the gym with good lighting. read more

I didnt want to post the full details of the incident but it seems like fitness systems is not being truthful. As I was super setting bench with shoulder latteral raiser, a person goes to my bench and rests his arms and elbows on my bench with 205 on it! Fitness systems immature and young staff cannot comprehend how dangerous that is. the weight of his body could of swung the bar up and hit me. The unknowledgable staff cannot comprehend again, how dangerous this is. as I was very angry and any one would be. I told the guy to take his hands off the bar, he said no why, no one is using it. im like dude im super setting ive been here for 5 minutes right behind you. He then begins to get in my face and says what what are you going to do so I pushed him.. The kids who run the club saw me push the guy out of my face he was litteraly nose to nose to me. This gym is as good as it gets; in terms of old school bodybuilding feel. They have just about every piece of equipment that you would need for an effective workout! Pretty clean atmosphere as well - not a trashy feel big box gym, all the machines are taken care of! Dumbbell section (up to f**kin heavy), plenty of benches (plus a rouge comp bench as well), three or four squat racks, one deadlift platform (w/bumper plates), tons and tons of machines, plenty of cardio equipment (stairs, treadmill, elliptical, etc) My experience was of a drop in customer on a Friday morning around 11am and the gym was empty, which for someone who goes to LA Fitness on the regular, I was a kid in a candy shop... Gym was EMPTY - easily could have stayed their for another 2 hours onto of what i already did. read more

It saddens me to update my review. Upon joining this gym, we were pleased. We were able to use the facility for one month before the lockdown took place. During this time, I lost my job and my family had to move. There is not a location where we moved, so we called to cancel our month to month membership. We were told we had to come in person to cancel. Money is very tight and this wasn't an option for us to drive all the way back to Lodi and we hoped they would understand. This morning, we were hit with a $250 charge from a gym we haven't been to since March. To say this hurt our family it an understatement: it devastated us. That was our grocery money for the next month. We called again and we were told they would cancel, but not issue a refund. It just breaks my heart that a business would value profit over people. $250 is nothing for a company but for us, it was food for our kids. We will be disputing with the bank and looking into further action to get our money back for our family. My advice would be to avoid this gym, this kind of practice is nothing short of greed. ** This is in response to the owners comments. We were told they would not accept a letter, otherwise we could have sent that in with no problem. It wasn't until after the fraudulent charge of $250 was it offered that we could write a letter to cancel. After you took our money. We have not received any calls from this location. I checked both phones and there is nothing. Keeping a business afloat and keeping a family fed are two different things. You took money for services not received. Doug is TM (The Man) - super knowledgeable, and always down to answer questions whether it's with diet or training. It's expensive and costs $49 a month for one person, one location - Too much for inattentive staff who are often nowhere to be seen when entering the gym, unclean bathrooms, and management who doesn't follow through with customer concerns. What exactly does my maintenance fee go to? Wood screwed into walls to keep mirrors up, flooring coming up to trip you while you're using the smith machine, smelly bathrooms. I canceled my membership two days after my monthly dues & after a maintenance fee and they made me to pay an additional month to cancel - while I was on a month to month plan. I was told that a manager would call me because of my concern and I never heard from them again. All other gyms I have been to will pro-rate your monthly fee when canceling, I would have at least appreciated a call. Go to another gym if you can! You will get better customer service & facilities along with less shady business practices. *Update 6/14/18* I received a response to my review less than 24 hours after writing it. I did not receive a call back after personally speaking with multiple staff members at the gym and over the phone. I give it 5 because Its great for someone like me but 4 for the average gym goer. I only use free weights and its probably the biggest weight room you will find in the Lodi/Stockton area(I've looked). Plenty of benches, squat racks, no one complains about weights slamming etc. Everyone is pretty friendly here, never seen any issues(during regular hours). I've been a member since 2013 or so. A majority of the equipment I use is still from that time lol. They've added new Olympic bars recently, powerlifting bench, regularly replace worn attachments for machines. I go nights, midday, mornings depending on work schedule. Post covid it seems the gym has way more people than it used to prior. Especially at night its a majority of younger groups of kids. I know people sneak in sometimes, no big deal. One time a group of kids came in one night who obviously walked in because my cousin was one of them lol. They close the basketball court at night now which I think is helping. Mens restroom/locker/shower room is small and cramped especially when people malinger in there. not much they can do they're limited on space. Something to look at before signing away. Only thing I would suggest is more employees at night or at least making sure they're enforcing check-ins since the night employees sometimes are not at the desk or seem to know everyone there. Someone complained about the music at night I don't mind it. I just mind it when its overpowering my headphones which seems to happen sometimes. Despite that its a good gym. read more

This gym is legit, all the equipment and machines you could ever ask for. If you want to get serious about weightlifting and exercise, this is the place to be. Lots of sanitizing equipment around to clean up after yourself and overall has a really friendly local vibe. After speaking to Kelsy, a manager, she informs me they will charge me for a month before terminating my frozen account. Having visited several gyms in the Lodi area. The men's dressing room is a small area for changing, showering, and using the restroom: in desperate need of remodeling. Given the high monthly fee, and not providing the credit due, and the arrogant individuals which requires one to posture to keep the equipment being used, I would recommend a gym where customers are valued and vanity is not. read more

I had a Trainer named Jon flash on me for getting on equipment (he had not marked or was nowhere near for 2-3 minutes) as he was "waiting for his client to arrive any second". I didn't know that I as a paying customer couldn't use equipment because someone might arrive at the gym and need it. Not only that but he proceeded to be a complete jerk and never once acted in a professional manner to me ending our conversation with "next time I'll piss on it to mark it." Easily the most unprofessional person I've ever seen anywhere. Management needs to get rid of contract workers like this as they represent the business even if they are not technically an employee. This gym has to be one of the worst kept gyms in Lodi maybe even Stockton. The place is not very clean and the staff doesn't do very much on cleaning up. Machines keep breaking down and won't be fixed for months. They are way overpriced $49 a month for not a lot of perks. In shape in Lodi and all other locations I pay 69.00 for 3 people and have access to pools and much much more. Im an active member (I go every night), I CANCELLED an add-on on my account THREE MONTHS AGO. Apparently I needed a receipt to PROVE I have done so? That LITERALLY MAKES NO SENSE. If I make a request from one of your representatives, the expectation is that the request is COMPLETED accordingly. It's not about the money (however I would like it back) it's about the principle.
