Wow we have been members for nearing three years now- wasn't a bad neighborhood club. Under new management - not impressed Machines are constantly broken. Small groups hog the weights and equipment. Then don't put what they used away. Sports drink puddles are on the treadmills Took six weeks to change a lightbulb in the women's locker room Staff over turn is high-guess that speaks volumes for management and pay. At this time I wouldn't recommend joining it - after hearing from an ex-gym member and the hassle she went through to drop her membership -- I will stay for now until it gets worse..... read more

I've been going to this gym for about a year now and it's great. They are constantly working on improving and growing it. The monthly price I pay is seriously affordable and worth it. Although there has been some equipment outage here and there, the manager Brad, is extremely motivated to make sure all the members are taken care of and to get the place all fixed up! Nothing better than having a manager that sees a customers needs and takes care of business on his own. Truly appreciate him getting the job done and fixing the equipment himself!! #givetheguyapayraisewillya I'm here 5-6 days a week and am able to train everything that I need with their equipment options. Plenty of cardio equipment, machines and free weights as well. read more

This place is a joke. Don't sign on with this gym if there is any possibility that you may want to switch gyms at a future date. Do sign on with them if you plan to be a member for the rest of your life. When I started a new job that had an on-site gym, I decided to cancel my Fitness Evolution membership. Cancelling with them has been the WORST customer service experience I have ever had. They are a bunch of fraudulent scammers who make cancelling with them nearly impossible. Not worth it at all. Employees do a horrible job documenting any interactions you have with them. Just when I thought I was good to go and cancelled my membership successfully, I got charged again. And again, and again. I called again to cancel and it wasn't until my third attempted that I was successful and they finally stopped auto-charging my card. They told me I had to call and ask for the manager if I wanted the charges reversed. This "manager" was so hard to get a hold of and did not call me back despite multiple attempts. Never got a hold of said manager and never got my money back. Never again. Not worth it. read more

This place has become a real joke. The new manager does not acknowledge that the machines are broken. I asked him about an specific machine and he told me 2 weeks ago that he was waiting on parts to fix it. Obviously the parts never came as the machine still broken. Lately he try's to ignore as much as he can as he knows the lies he's told me. More than half of the treadmills are down. You can always count on the place to be opened late at least twice per week. read more

I went to this location for a specific trainer (Kristi) who is absolutely AMAZING! However when I went to class last Thursday instead of being met by Kristi, a gal named Amanda was there to teach the class. I had asked her a couple health questions & she immediately sent me over to Good Life nutrition just down the street (paid $7 for meal replacement drinks, only to find out there's a ton of ingredients that I can't have in my diet - even explained what I couldn't have). Then learned if I wanted to purchase, I'd have to go through Amanda, as she's a consultant as well. Needless to say, I called the manager Cat again after leaving 4 messages that she never received, who wasn't really helpful at all. After this experience, I'm not sure I want to continue my membership especially at this location! read more

I am putting three stars so this will be posted to the front page, and not get automatically kicked to the "reviews not recommended" for having low stars. Sneaky practices, Fitness Evolution. THIS PLACE IS AWFUL!! My husband contracted RINGWORM from this gym!!!! The manager, JACOB, apologized and told us the membership would be canceled immediately. He also assured us that the evening employee that he found out was NOT PROPERLY CLEANING THE EQUIPMENT was fired immediately. My husband initially signed up for the free trial, called twice the next month, and went in once to sign cancellation paperwork, WHICH he did, and we received a monthly charge a month later! My husband goes BACK IN and signed cancellation paperwork AGAIN. (By this time it's been two and a half months since my husband contracted ringworm from their facility, and one month after he already cancelled the 'membership'. He signs the paper work for the second time, and I speak with the manager, JACOB, who assures me that he will contact corporate and contact me immediately. We never heard from him again. So TODAY, December 17th, we receive another monthly charge AND and annual fee. So that's $14.99 for November, and $53.99 for December... When we cancelled a TRIAL membership in October. I just spoke with the manager JACOB, again, and he tells me now that the employee responsible for the ringworm was not let go, that he believes all of the charges are completely valid, and that there is no way we can prove that my husband contracted ringworm from the ONLY GYM HE WAS ATTENDING. (And newly, at that!). He tells me that he will contact corporate in regard to a refund, since he can not process any refunds in-house, and he will contact me immediately. YEA RIGHT, let me hold my breath. There was originally no doubt that this is where my husband contracted ringworm. However, after now reading another yelp review about how dirty this place is, (from another reviewer), I feel it's necessary to warn others! Avoid this place like it has the plague. . . After all, it DOES have RINGWORM BACTERIA. I'll be contacting the Better Business Bureau, The Department of Health, the local news, YELP, Google reviews, Facebook, Twitter, and anyone else I can. *UPDATE* it's been two days since JACOB promised me he would contact me by the end of the business day (two days ago), and I still haven't heard from him. read more

Beginning December 15th 2015 this location is closing its kids club. I think this was probably one of the most incompetent, idiotic, and worst decisions made by a very poorly run management team. I have checked out many of the local gyms in the surrounding area and none besides Fitness Evolution offered a kids club (Fitness 19 Offers Kids Club!). Being that the average parent nowadays are in their 20s and early 30s, it's wise for gyms to accommodate families also from a marketing standpoint (THIS WAS YOUR BREAD & BUTTER) but hey what do I know, I only went to college for a business degree. I refuse to go to any of the corporate run gyms like Cal Fit or 24hr because all they care about are dollars along with their absurd cancellation fees. The 3 years I have been a member of Fitness Evolution I have seen at least 20 trainers come and go, and it seems they can't keep a solid employee for more than 2 weeks. Its really sad, because we have actually befriended a few of the trainers (Best Trainer - Sierra) and employees here. Especially the ones working in the kids club like (Celli), my kids love her! They were so nice and genuinely good people. I decided to cancel my membership due to this ludacris change that most likely was brought about because management decided they wanted to save some pennies. Well guys you surely have lost my business - right on! read more

Find another gym! I have been going there for three years until today. They have lots of problems with repairs of the building and keeping billing straight. They just hit my bank account for the monthly dues on the 21st instead of the 10th. I did not agree or sign off on direct withdraw. I now have a $35 overdraft charge. The front desk can not do anything, as usual, and are upset for ruining their day because I insist they fix this thing NOW. I have been on the edge of leaving several times. I made a double payment on the 5th which disappeared from their records. I should be a month ahead but they claim I am a month late. They can not issue recipients for payments and will not show me a payment history. It would be a liability risk if I walked behind the counter and looked at the monitor. Today no one picks up the phone in the Livermore corporate office to help me and my calls are not going to voice messaging. Also my phone application for Fitness Evolution refuses to take my log on so no leaving a email. The showers have no heat for three years. The railing to the second floor is pulling away from the wall. They did replace all the lights recently but the place was dark for the previous three years. Toliets and urinals are often not working. Hot water is intermittent. The first floor disabled person showers have the wall mounted shower seat pulled away from the wall. The staffs approach has been uninterested in my displeasure as to safety and performance issues. Particularly today when I " have been rude several times and I should leave." You just stole $65 from me you bitch! She is not having my attitude and I am not having her over the top bitch incompetence. She's calling the cops and she stole $65. I left all the way down the the street to California Fitness. They cost $50 a month instead of $10 a month but Fitness Evo just took 6.5 months of dues and are so happy about it with their great life attitude that there is nothing at all wrong! Do not challenge their great life attitude, they will call the cops. I am not the problem, you stole from me several times you bitch! Cal Fitness had a sauna, spa rock climbing wall, and a heated pool. They are also open four more hours per day than Fitness Evo. The Fraud department of US Bank has refused to pay this illicit charge and had recinded all overdraft charges. Good! Apparently the Better Business Bureau in Livermore has been after them to change their habits. They do not do good business read more

I've been a member of this gym for a few months after years at different local gym. My husband had been a member for a while and I went along to try it out since I was looking to get in shape after having a baby. So many good things to say! First of all, the staff is great. I can't say enough about Sydnee in childcare! She has been awesome with my kids...they love her and are so excited to get to go and play with her in the mornings. She does a fantastic job with both my baby and elementary school kids. I hope her manager knows what a great employee they have with her. She is awesome! Also, both my husband ended up signing up for personal training sessions with Adam. We have found him to be extremely knowledgeable and positive. He was able to assess some issues we have with form and repetitive stress and work to create movements that will help correct these problems. I am in no way new to fitness but have never had a trainer that made the effort to help the body work well kinesthetically like Adam does. I'm very impressed so far. The other trainers are cool too. I am not shy about asking questions about form or the correct way to use a machine and when I ask for help, they have always been happy to show me things. There are some good Zumba classes too. Rosanna and Jen are awesome and they always seem to fill the class. There are a few other classes but I haven't had a chance to try them. I would love to see some Pilates in addition to the yoga that's on the schedule. The equipment is pretty new and in good shape, good free weight area, haven't ever seen any of the cardio machines broken. All in all, a good basic gym for a good price. If you want to get the best price, you can just buy out your membership for a year. It's a great deal. read more

I wanted a cheap gym for 3 months so I thought this was the gym. They told me when signed up, no contract, I could pay for my three months in advance and then when it was up I wouldn't have to cancel or give notice or anything, just stop paying. Well three months went by, I was automatically charged for the 4th month on my card (they didn't tell me it was staying on file when I prepaid months 1-3) plus a $5 fee which was unknown to me. Everytime I call or try to go in the manager is not there so I cannot yet cancel and now I learned that to cancel I must still pay an extra month of dues (5 months paid when I only needed 3?!) In addition to this, the posts from January and February about broken equipment and lack of paper towels are still all true now in April- no maintenance has been done at all. read more

Clean, not too crowded, good place to work out.

We love coming here! We've been coming here for about 3 years. We started when it was Fit U. Just a few things though... It takes too long to repair machines when they need fixing. And some repairs seem jimmy rigged- not fixed the way they used to work. Right now the ab machine in the circuit training area is NOT working like it did a few weeks ago ( wrong shock?). And my BIGGEST complaint is they stopped providing PAPER towels in the women's restroom!!!! They want us to use outdated hand dryers that are inconveniently located. I think it is cheap not to provide paper towels! Other than these few things, I enjoy working out here. read more

Fitness Evolution - Broken chest press machine. It has been WEEKS! - Gyms Near Me - Fair Oaks, California

I have belonged to this gym since it opened. Lately I've noticed that it is going downhill. Of the 15 treadmills on the bottom floor, 7 are currently out of order. There are another 5 weight machines that are also out of order. One of these machines (chin ups) has been broken for over a month. Still a good facility but they got to get it together. See attached pictures. I asked the guy at checkin and he couldn't tell me when the machines would be fixed. read more

This is a great basic gym. The staff are very nice, haven't met any that aren't friendly. I don't have little kids so I don't know about the child care but my teenagers work out here and love it. The hydro massage is really relaxing, kind of surprised me actually. The tanning bed is usually available, there has only been one time when I had to wait. There is always a machine available when I want to use one. Overall great value. read more

I really would like to say that I enjoyed this gym, but sadly, I don't. Their Orangevale location is decent, but their Carmicheal one has weight plates all over the floor every time you walk in, the staff is about as friendly and honest as a cactus, there's a depression near the squat rack's floor, the dumbbells are always out of order, the barbell collars for the weights are usually nowhere to be found, and the best part is if you ask the Staff they are always sure to let you know that they can't help. The place smells of ammonia and the men's locker rooms are just plain awful. I realize that they bought this place out of an older athletic club, but this has to be the saddest excuse for a gym in Sacramento. The benches are probably one of the most awkward things I have ever done a press off of. Really this place would not be as bad as it is if the staff were at least friendly and willing to help, but every time you ask them something their body language just reads that they really don't care. I understand that I am paying a cheap price for my gym, but I also understand that I've been to places like Fitness 19 and there's been better communication and customer service skills there. I really don't ask for much in a staff of a gym other than that they at least try and be sensible. Another thing I'd like to note is that I can confirm the bad rumors that are being given off as far as to this place's billing administration. For my birthday I was offered a one year membership by a family member, who proceeded to call the gym and tell it to take it out of her account instead of my own. Come around a month or two down the road they still had not changed the account information and so I was forced to pay my monthly fee to continue working out --in addition to my family member's account being charged. I had to walk in personally with said family member and get it setup, and even then they said nothing about refunding it. The only good thing I can say about it is that it's very spacious and really if the company had the money to renovate it fully it might actually be passable, but even then I don't think I'd come back here. I've been to Fitness 19, Calfit and 24 Hour Fitness and all of these were better choices than FitEvo. I'll be cancelling my membership today. If you are really going to go to FitEvo, go to their Orangevale location. read more

Words cannot even begin to explain the ill feelings I have towards this business. I signed up with my fiancé cause hey, who doesn't think 10 bucks a month is a killer deal for a gym membership? So we sign up, and come to find out that there are a few "first time fees" and fees for this fees for that, but hey, it's nothing out of the ordinary. Plus it's only gonna be 10 bucks a month, so a few one time fees seem worth it. We attend the gym for a couple months, and eventually stop going as the weather gets better outside, so we decide we want to cancel our membership, and so begins the reasoning for my ill feelings towards this company. So, come to find out only a manager can cancel your membership, under the reasoning of "they are the only person who can access your billing/personal information", but of course, the managers are only available to do so 12-4 M-F, which makes it near impossible for anyone working standard business hours M-F to get in there. In the instance of my fiancé and myself, we tried to cancel our membership on the 31st of March, but had to make an appointment for the following day, which was the first day of the next billing cycle. Per their contract, a 30 day notice must be given to cancel, and if that 30 days goes into a new billing cycle, you have to pay that bill as well. So we tried to cancel, ended up having to wait, then had to pay for Aprils membership as well as Mays membership fees, since 30 days rolled us into that month as well. 20 bucks each just to end the contract, frustrating, but not the end of the world, right? Wrong. The following day both my fiancé and myself are charged 50 dollars (100 dollars total) by the gym, so I call to speak with a manager about it. He claims it's my annual membership fee that I owe, and refused to remove the charges, despite our cancellations of the accounts. After reviewing the contract there is mention of the fee for annual contracts, but we were on a month to month, so it shouldn't apply. Even worse, the contract states that a date will be specified on the contract, or given to me after signing up, which they didn't do. Also, the contract states that the fee is 40 a person, yet I was charged 50 a person. So here I am, 140 dollars later, trying to make sense of why I am watching my money disappear for canceling my contract, and the only person I get to deal with about it, is a meathead who's puffing his chest out and trying to throw the rule book at me to prevent any refunds of charges. Summary: the gym is a scam. The contract is clearly written to lock you into fees that are not clearly defined, and to make it as difficult as possible to get out of. The staff is beyond unpleasant, and the managers I have spoken with are absolute meat head morons that completely disregard you, and practically laugh in your face as you try to get an ounce of customer service from them. Don't waste your time, your money, or the stress. This gym is a joke, the staff is a joke, and the terms that they try to get you to abide by are a joke. I can't wait to sit and watch this business run itself out of people to scam, and go under, as it rightfully should. read more

UPDATE! Since my last review, the gym manager Brad has explained why repairs have been delayed and has taken it upon himself to fix them himself. Fit U is now called Fitness Evolution- and it's no better. I was a member here for a year, and I had nothing but problems. You get a limited gym membership for $9.95 a month, which is great. But you also have to pay $35 a year as an annual fee. So, that's not so bad, right? $160 a year? You get what you pay for. The $9.95 a month was supposed to be automatically deducted from my bank account each month. For whatever reason, they couldn't figure out their billing for the first how-many-ever months, so I was randomly charged $20 here and $40 there. Then I finally complained and they got it sorted out. Then in October (14 months after my original start date)I went in to cancel my membership. I filled out the paperwork, and told me I would have to pay the last months membership fees- no big deal. Except that a few days later I check my bank account and they charged me another annual fee- two months late and only after I told them I was leaving. BUT IT GETS BETTER. So I figured they screwed me on the annual membership, but $45 isn't going to break me and at least I'll be done with these idiots. November 1 rolls around and they charge me my membership fee again! I called up the gym and told them and their only response was, "You'll have to come down to the gym so we can issue you a refund." I told them that was unacceptable, and that they needed to credit back to my bank account what they deposited. My time is valuable and it is not going to be wasted because they screwed up. I told them they did not have authorization to debit my account for that period; I signed a contract terminating my membership. The manager's (Jacob Keller) response: he can't issue me a refund. He then went on to tell me he'd call corporate and call me right back. More than 24 hours later I haven't heard from the guy. I just tried calling again, and apparently he was 'busy.' So the customer service is pretty much on par with paying to have someone steal your money and crap all over your day. Other than that, the gym equipment is pretty old and not very clean. There are 4-5 big TVs on the wall, and you can plug your earphones into an audio jack to watch TV while you're doing cardio. But the audio jacks worked less than half the time in my experience. And even then you're pretty much stuck watching whatever is on, so I hope you like Maury. Other than that, the gym was usually pretty empty when I went after work; it was just me and about a dozen high school boys that ran around slapping each other with towels, swearing like sailors, and flexing in front of the mirrors. The gym is just down the street from a high school. read more

This is the local fitness place which I normally love with super friendly counter people. My issue .......Fix your broken machines people They charge a monthly fee which is very reasonable But charge a once a year maintenance charge to upkeep the equipment. This should be part of your dues but it's not. So if you intend on charging it separately then fix your shit or people will move on to other gyms or someone will get hurt and that will cost you dearly. Weeks and weeks with broken equipment is NOT a good look. Management sort it out. read more

I really like this place. A friend told me about it and I am glad I came. It is a pretty big place and has all of the state of the art equipment. They also have an awesome circuit training area. I recommend buying the year paid in full, you save a lot of money that way. Plus free tanning and free hydro massage. Everyone I have talked to here are real nice. BUT a word of caution about the trainers, from what I have witnessed they SUCK! They look at the picture I posted. This is what the trainers look like when their training someone. Not training them at all or helping. Just leaning on some weights not paying attention to their client. This is at fitness evolution in fair oaks. Don't get a "trainer" there! The gym itself is cool and a good deal, but the trainers are worthless. They spend most of the clients just shooting the breez about what they did over the weekend or some other useless conversation. If you want a counseling session buy training, but if you want to be actually and properly trained FORGET IT! read more

had the worst billing experience ever with them. Cancelled my account in May and then they charged me for June and charged for a price lock guarantee. This is my current "home gym". It's not terrible- equipment is pretty new, tho they lack many amenities I'd expect for them to have (like a steam room or pool). Recently joined and love it already. New equipment, lots of treadmills. My biggest complain about gyms is having to wait for a treadmill but I have never had to wait at Fitness Evolution. Can't beat the price! $20/month for access to the gym, zumba classes, 2 free training sessions, hydro massage and unlimited tanning (don't personally use tanning, but I know it's a crazy good deal to include unlimited tanning in the monthly price). Had a good first training session with Cameron, looking forward to my next! read more

Wow. Bad. Just sooo bad. This is not a gym, it is a front for a scam. They get you in the door with a low price and then jack it up on you and add an annual fee. The personal training locks you into a 12 month contract which they don't tell you until you try and quit. They will then try and charge you over $500 in cancellation fees. After quitting they sent my membership to collections even though I paid the fees. Avoid this gym at all costs!!! Watch out for a trainer named Cameron, he will con you out of your money! read more

So I'm now receiving calls stating that I owe them money, when the gym has made no actual contact with me prior to this stating I was supposed to be paying them ANYTHING. Also, I was just informed that the liability waiver I signed when I went in for my free trial experience was actually me signing a contract stating I would pay them money, which it did not say at all. So I was actually thinking of going back and signing up with them because I did like the facility and the child care was convenient, but now, I will never return there and if I could give them a -5 star review for their customer service skills, I would. read more

Now called Fitness Evolution. One question...Where are the Negative Stars? It was very generous for me to have to give this place one star. The Better Business Bureau should shut this place down. They claim to have hassle free/no commitment membership. Ha. Both my husband and I were members. I noticed on my bank account that they increased my monthly fee without notice. When I called to inquire about his, I was promised someone would call me back...and no one called. I was told that to cancel, I would need to schedule an appointment with the manager. Instead, I wrote a certified letter (return receipt) cancelling my membership and providing them one month's dues (at the originally agreed upon rate). My husband was not so lucky in cancelling. He had originally provided his credit card. His card was stolen and when he got the new one, he went into the gym to provide them with his number. He did this three times. Each time he was told that no one was available to help him. Finally, he just stopped going. No one called, no notification was received that his account was still open. Then, he got the dreaded phone call...he owed for 6 months. He went in to take care of this and was told that they no longer took credit cards. The insisted that he provide them with his banking account. When he refused, they threatened him with legal action. He got tired of trying to make this right and paid the bill. He has a receipt that his account was paid in full. Now, he is getting harassing phone calls stating his account is past due. Fitness Evolution is not calling off "the dogs" so to speak. When my husband asked for a number of the home office, he was told by the manager that they were not allowed to give this out. This place is a nightmare. It is almost as if they try to sign people up to make their money later through hidden fees, fines and other ridiculous assessments. Save yourself the hassle and sign up with a company that cares about their clientele... like 24 Hr. read more

I appreciate this location more than some others bc they offer more classes, a basketball half-court and multiple racquetball courts. They did not initially, but now they have the same premium accommodations, like other locations: tanning and hydromassage. I also like that oddly enough, it is much easier to grab a bench press here vs every other location I have been to. I only have two complaints here, one being that all of the machines are very cramped. There is not a lot of space for moving about or doing exercises with free weights, just a bunch of machines. My second, and main complaint, is that NONE of the personal TVs work on the treadmills, literally not one, I personally checked every single one. I am not generally such a snob, however at this particular location all of the treadmills face walls. At least if you are not going to have the TVs working, please have it be so that I can stare at more than a wall and a blank screen! This is not a new issue, I have been coming for months, sporadically, and the TVs have never once worked. read more

So in the beginning this gym seemed like a dream come true. The sign up process was smooth, the gym was nice, and only pay a low monthly rate. Later I find out, after signing two other people up, about the annual fee, debit fee, and find out fat there were random charges made to our accounts!!! If you look at all the bad reviews it is exactly how they describe. The person who signed me up "fabian" didn't tell me the 40 dollar was a annual fee. Also failed to mention the debit fee. Even though that was something new and shouldn't have applied to me I still go charged. Now I have to waste my time which I have barely any during the week and talk to the manager to quit. I have been with many gyms and never had to go in and make a appointment to cancel. Why can't I just do it over the phone? Or just go in at my convenience and cancel with anybody? I believe this is a tactic just to make it difficult for the customer to quit. I have done schooling for business for gym facilities and this is exactly a tactic some gyms use. They also do it in hope to keep you enrolled at their gym. I am not happy about how they sign up new customers leaving out important facts about the membership. I do not like how me and the people I helped signed up are getting random charges. I do not like when you want a refund they can only apply it to the membership prolonging it more. This place has some very shady tactics. You will be sure if I get any more suprises when I go in to cancel I will be contacting the better business Bureau and making sure this gets to every review site. This is Just unethical and not professional. Also check out this review.
