Staff very unpleasant while inquiring about prices for the gym. I'll take my business to planet fitness where the staff aren't rude.

Sorry for this being so long but it's important for me to include every detail. No problem with the people there but I got scammed out of 300 dollars. I called to cancel my membership and was told he cancelled it and was all set. It stopped charging my card for months while in the meantime a number kept calling me but would either get sent to spam, i wasn't able to answer, or when i called back it was an automated robot talking about my planet fitness account and not my fitness edge account so i thought nothing of it. It sent me a voicemail that it was for fitness edge so i made sure to answer the next time and as i answered there was no words for 10 seconds and then it hung up. I blocked the number continuing to think nothing of it as i still wasn't being affected by anything to my knowledge. Later i got sent an automated text saying i signed up for fitness edge alerts and was confused so i emailed the email provided and as i did that it said that i had an ongoing past due balance of around 300 dollars that i had no clue about. I later called to clear it up hoping to talk to the owner but whoever picked up was rude from the start refusing to tell me when the owner would be there but i instead tried to talk to him about the situation. He denied anyone ever told me my membership was cancelled and denied that the money not being charged on my account when i was told it was cancelled wasn't their fault or a coincidence but instead "my card expired." (My card never expired) He also said they didn't cancel memberships on the phone and i replied by saying i understand that but i wasn't told that by whoever i called and asked if i could come in to cancel it and he said id have to pay this money that i didn't know i was being charged. After more made up lies and disrespect after i was nothing but respectful i asked one last time if he knows when the owner will be there and he again refused to tell me and hung up. Im going there soon to try and clear this up and hopefully not pay the money that i didn't know i was being charged but even if i do clear it up and not pay just be mindful that this could happen to you. (Also somewhat unrelated but before this i had stopped going for about 3 months while letting it still charge me because i wasn't sure if id be going back or not. That being said i allowed them to take about 300-400 dollars without even using the gym and they still tried or did scam me out if an extra 300 dollars after cancelling with this whole situation) Great people to work with but absolutely horrible customer service and risk of being scammed. read more

moved down here about 2 years ago and this really is the best gym I've seen in the area. lots complaining about contracts when they made it very clear how a contract works? Why else would it be cheaper? Staff has always been welcoming. only complaint I really have is the darkness on the main floor. read more

Great gym, friendly staff, only gym that Iv found out here with a Sauna Also has an amazing MMA Gym package I love both so far.

Went for a tour and the filth was unbelievable. The man said the cleaning crew came in at night for a wipe down which means each machine is guaranteed one full wipe down a day. And it showed. I went there because of the pool but it felt like it was over 100 degrees in the pool area and was very dark and looked like a cave. Not pleasant at all. Did not join. read more

The mma gym is a lie they act funny and treat you any kinda way. The coaches there got favorites and I understand that they have to pay more attention to the people who compete but come on. You really got to make a first expression on them because if not they will treat you like your nothing. The membership contract is stupid the month by month is higher than the annual membership fee so of course I wanted to go the cheaper route and save little money but let's just say that you don't like the experience there and want cancel your membership you have two options O 1. You have to find someone to take over your membership which harder then it is. 2. You have to move 25 miles away from the gym itself or your job has to be 25 miles away. Did I mention that you got to obtain a certificate bill or check as evidence that you are moving I mean who are you people? Also if you do find someone to take over your gym membership either you are the person who is getting the membership has to pay a $50 transfer fee. If you really like doing mma itself I recommend going somewhere else because like I said you have to make a great impression with them otherwise you will not have a great experience. It is not everyone but i mostly got along with people who just started going there. For me it is half of the staff and the more advanced people who act like they are kings and queens of the gyms and they see them doing that and acting like that but they don't do anything. read more

Cursed me out and yelled at me cause I had wrong shoes on accused me of trying to get in without paying, said they called the cops. Rude staff never met the owner but they told me I shouldn't mess with mike. Definitely need some training in the customer service end read more

Be careful when signing up. If you decide to quit the y charge you the year and post bad credit ratings when you want to quit Charged $75 membership fee to some and free if you can negotiate Try another place before locking in for a year Planet fitness way less and easy to stop going read more

If you have children, DONT bring them to this day care. The lack of acknowledgement and respect that their workers give the children and their parents is deplorable. And what's even worse is how management handles it. I will never recommend anyone i care about to bring their children to this daycare. Your workouts may be good, but the way your children are treated - they should be ashamed. read more

Do not sign a contract with Fitness Edge!!! They will keep charging you. We had to go through the Better Business Bureau to get them to stop charging our car. The gym is awful but was the only one in the area. The workout area is dank and dark. The shower facilities are dirty. The pool has fungus growing on the tiles. Wifi sucked. The staff are a bunch of Coastal students who are hired because they know how to use the preacher curl machine. Management won't return calls. Save $40/month and walk around outside. read more

I love everything about the Gym. I wish the hours went to 8 on the weekends but, it a Has all you need and then some. I have rarely found a gym with all Equipment I wanted. Plus the Rig room is a huge bonus. read more

Like the gym, like the staff, hate the cleaning crew. The men's room enclosed showers have mold, mildew and clumps of hair that have been there since I joined a month ago. The pictures on the wall are depressing, especially upstairs. Why is it so dark inside this gym?! Skip the lemon water and the apple slices, clean up, return the photos to The Overlook Hotel, and turn on the lights. Please. See ya tomorrow... read more

I was a member here for almost two years. The gym has everything you need and if you want to do classes they have a good amount of them to take. Getting out of my contract when I moved was simple as a text message to them. read more

Two words: not impressed. Their membership rates are unreasonably high. This is disappointing, as their classes are very good. That said, it's not worth the money, or the year-long commitment they want you to lock you into. My experience with a personal trainer was also rather poor; he did not take into account my noted injuries and seem to produce a very generic workout plan. This was a total waste of my time. Give this one a pass, go somewhere else. Save your money. read more

Had a 1 year contract with this gym. After the membership was up... I called them to cancel from Austin, TX. They said they can't cancel my membership without a certified piece of mail. This is my 3rd time trying to redeliver now, and they refuse to accept the piece of mail that has my certified address on it. They employees are rude and basically work for a commision so put you in a contract that you can't escape. Get a membership anywhere else. read more

Owner/trainer wanted me off a machine so his trainee could use it. I questioned him and he responded with two demonstrative insults. I told him what I thought. His response was to summarily cancel my membership then call police when I wanted cancellation & money aspects clarified with the desk personnel. Still owes me $35ish. Just joined this gym.. so far so good. Had a billing issue where my credit card was hacked online and we had to cancel that card. Though FE's billing company charged the old card and I was charged bounced fees, upon calling, it was resolved and the funds put back into my account. My husband I enjoy the gym, the classes and the staff. Plus we get a protein shake a few times a week and they are great and after a few they offer a free one! read more

Had a 2 year membership-Wasn't bad other than being kinda pricey until the end of membership period when my "Contract" was up. Even though the membership agreement states otherwise, Fitness Edge assumes at the end of your contract you want continue your membership and continue charging you. If you call, you will probably reach a rude and unprofessional employee who is of no help what-so-ever. Best part is that I sent a letter, contacted them online(Which is also of no use because according to the employee he stated he didn't know this existed and "is probably just a general thing that no one really checks") and still was told there is nothing they can do. I love this gym! Been going for a year and it's perfect for what I need as an OCR athlete and the staff are very friendly and they just helped me out with a question about my account and they looked it up fast. Also they have incline trainers which almost no other gyms have and I need that to practice my mountain trail running. read more
