Austin is one of the most helpful, generous hard-working humans I've ever met. He's always cleaning, always friendly and very approachable to speak to. Overall, this gym has clean facilities, equipment and friendly staff. Absolutely recommend this gym. But of course we will have different opinions, we all have different likes and dislikes. You just have to find the right gym that fits you. If you like the gym and know what you're doing it doesn't matter what type of equipment they have you'll get a workout in. I'd say give fitness 19 an opportunity and if it's for you great and if it's not, it's OK just don't go based off bitter people giving bitter reviews. The convenience of this gym is awesome, you have El Pollo Loco, target, a DD's, five below, Cox, bicycle shop, Chinese food, Rose, Mexican food, chipotle, laundromat, subway, a mechanic shop, sprouts, Petco(I think it's a Petco.), and a barbershop as well as a nail salon and eyebrow threading, but obviously you would've been able to figure it out using Google. I just like really long reviews lol. Anyways, this gym is very convenient close to everything and anything you might need after or before the gym. If there's something you need you just let the staff know or if you have a comment or concern, let them know so that way they can figure out a way to improve. I decided to cancel my membership when I tried to purchase a protein drink on my club account on Sunday, January 25th at 8:45 AM and was told that I didn't have a card on file. I have made multiple purchases on my gym account in the past and explained that but the employee (Saul) was unwilling to assist and make it right. The best way I could make it right was to terminate my gym membership. I tried to get assistance from a female staff member (who has conducted transactions and charged items to my gym account) but Saul just asked me to write down my name and phone numbers. He never took any initiative to ask another staff member how to charge a purchase to a gym account to make it right. It's either incompetence or gender discrimination as far as Saul is concerned. It's embarrassing to be treated this way and no paying gym member should be subject to discrimination and humiliation. I doubt Fitness 19 would have treated local Fire Department members poorly (who were working out when I was there) but would have assisted them. Shame on Fitness 19 and their staff for treating members as if they are a bother, not having basic skills to process monetary transactions (store clerks with limited English proficiency are more competent) and doing nothing to make it right. That's laziness! It was bad experience but what I learned is there are other fitness clubs in the vicinity that offer more amenities for members, have more exercise equipment, flexible hours and competitive membership rates that offer greater value than Fitness 19 ever could. read more

They are crooks and will continue to charge your bank account despite having cancelled and revoking their authorization to process any ACH transactions. If you manage to actually get in contact with a human, they will lie to you, assure refunds are being issued, no further charges etc. and then they will continue to charge you anyhow. I'm sharing this experience because it was a complete contrast from the positive impression I initially had--and ultimately the reason I chose not to join. On Monday, April 13th, I spoke with Grant over the phone about joining Fitness 19 through Active & Fit. He was extremely helpful, professional, and kind. Based on that interaction, I went ahead and switched my Active & Fit membership to this location and was genuinely looking forward to joining, especially since the gym seemed to offer the types of classes I need due to prior injuries and surgeries. I also spoke with Daniela and let her know I would be coming in later that week. Unfortunately, my in-person experience on April 16th was the exact opposite. When I arrived, I stood at the front desk while a staff member (Maria) sat behind a computer, looking directly at me but not acknowledging or assisting me. I was left standing there until a young woman--who I'm not even sure was an employee--approached and asked if I needed help. Only then did Maria come to the front. Her first comment was that she didn't know what I was standing there for, which immediately set an unwelcoming tone. I explained that I was there to complete my signup through Active & Fit and provide my member ID so an account could be created. It quickly became clear that she was unfamiliar with the process. As I tried to explain how Active & Fit works, she became dismissive, short, and increasingly defensive. Due to an issue with the gym's Wi-Fi, I was temporarily unable to pull up my member ID. Instead of offering any assistance or alternatives, she repeatedly told me I was "not prepared," which was both unhelpful and unnecessary given the circumstances. At one point, she attempted to look me up in the Fitness 19 system using my phone number. When I clarified that I didn't yet have a Fitness 19 account--because I was there to create one--she responded with attitude and questioned why I had given my number at all. The interaction felt confrontational rather than helpful. I even mentioned how positive my experience with Grant had been, and her response was, "Well, you're not talking to Grant, you're talking to Maria." When I said I might contact corporate about the experience, she responded, "Let me make the call with you," which came across as sarcastic and unprofessional rather than supportive. At that point, it was clear this was not a misunderstanding--it was a lack of basic customer service. I felt uncomfortable, dismissed, and frankly unwelcome. I chose to leave rather than continue the interaction. It's important to note that I wasn't just walking in casually--I had already switched my Active & Fit membership to this location specifically and came in ready to finalize my enrollment. Because of this experience, I will not be joining. Management should be aware that one negative, face-to-face interaction completely outweighed an otherwise excellent first impression. No potential member should be treated this way. read more

This gym has the worst of it all, the equipment is nasty old, broken container boxes to hold accessories. You know there's nice heavy duty boxes at Home Depot or Walmart! The inside looks run down, small hot place for the amount of equipment. My wife and I both of us had a five day free pass and we worked out one day and we will not return!! read more

I landed a job in Carlsbad and was excited to give this place a shot if I ever had to kill some time while traffic died down... unfortunately, I only made it here once since I was pretty grossed out by how absolutely disgusting their showers are that honestly looked like they haven't been cleaned in YEARS... there was long hair everywhere and just soo dirty The only reason for the 2 stars is because of the sauna... aside from that, this location is pretty small and the equipment was pretty aged. Ray is an amazing fitness trainer of 20 years! He is an expert in his field; Very knowledgeable in anatomy, physiology & kinesiology. I have a lot of ailments that I wasn't sure how to train to get stronger without hurting myself. I have had a 3 level fusion in neck, lumber surgery and 2 hand surgeries! My husband and I have been with Ray for 6 months. I feel so much better physically and mentally since I started with him. He's the best! He is fun to train with but holds you accountable. I've been coming to this gym since I was 17. It's a small gym where everyone knows everyone. If you're a regular, you'll see the same five people no matter what time you go. Sure, sometimes the treadmills are broken for a few months or the mirrors take a while to get replaced, but honestly, that's part of what makes this gym feel like home. The staff is super friendly, and Rey is one of the friendliest people you'll ever meet.
