They challenge you, encourage you, make you laugh, and meet you wherever you are that day. There's no judgment and no expectation that you have to look, move, or be a certain way to belong here. Whether I'm dancing and getting rowdy at TurnUp, shaking through Pilates, slowing down with yoga, or simply connecting with the people around me, I always leave feeling better than when I came in. What Janelle has created here is a true community. It's a place to move, heal, laugh, grow, make friends, and fill your own cup. Reagan was small but mighty! She instantly knew where my body needed to relax. She has a magical touch and the strength in those hands are wild! She was knowledgeable and gave a great massage. It was a massage that you know you will feel the next day. I left there feeling relaxed and refreshed. The instructors at Back to Balance are truly what make this place so special. Every one of them brings something completely different to the studio, and somehow it all fits together perfectly. Nina brings the ENERGY to TurnUp. She makes you want to let loose, dance, laugh, and forget about everything outside those walls for an hour. You never feel like you have to get every move right. You just move, have fun, and enjoy the hell out of yourself. Morgan is pure love and light. There's something about the energy she brings to yoga that makes you immediately feel welcome and at peace. Her classes fill up for a reason. They're THAT good. Crissy is incredibly knowledgeable in her practice. She takes the time to help you understand technique, work through movements, and find what works for your individual body. You can learn so much from her while still feeling completely comfortable.

Some of the most calming yoga I've experienced. Great space. Great teacher. Will definitely be back…read morefor another class.

The studio is in an area with lots of parking. There is a changing room and one stall for a shower if you're needing to jump from hot yoga to a Bubbles N Tea date (which is across the street and delicious). I will definitely consider the drop in class for $20 and the 2 weeks for $40 intro package. I dont live in the area, but I could see this being a great spot to check out if you've got a commute and want to dodge traffic! I wish I did live in the area so I could embrace this emotional and physical release more often.

Not to be basic, but if I could do 0 stars, I would. I'm home from school and decided I wanted to…read moretry a hot yoga studio here at home, so I decided to try a class here. I took Laura's class, and she was such a sweetheart and amazing at teaching. I do hot yoga nearly everyday but I was not used to this type of yoga. I got extremely dehydrated, dizzy the second I walked into the studio room, so I decided to lay in child's pose the whole time, just to be safe and avoid fainting. I noticed another worker (I'm not familiar with her name) giving me very rude looks during the class, which made me feel like a distraction despite my efforts of staying safe. After the class, I quickly felt sick and ran to the bathroom where I was excessively vomiting in the trash can (all stalls were taken, it was my only option). It was embarrassing, but it happens. Not one person stopped and asked if I was okay, and about 10 people walked by me. When I went to tell Laura, she was busy so I asked the other worker available. She was extremely disrespectful and told me to clean it up and go take the trash out myself, after I told her I felt extremely dehydrated and ill. She didn't ask if I was okay or if I needed help with anything, all she said was, "Yeah can you take out the trash yourself." Seems like a biohazard to me, and heck if I even knew where to take the trash to. Additionally, I was visibly shaking and my voice and body was obviously showing that. I was utterly shook that she had asked me to do this and her attitude was undeniably sassy. I have never felt so unwelcome and humiliated. I told Laura and she immediately told me to go home and feel better, and that she will take care of it! Thank god for Laura being there or else I would have left the studio bawling my eyes out of embarrassment. There must be policies for cleaning up things like vomit, and I don't think that a visitor is in charge of doing that! If I knew her name, I would contact the studio directly and inform them. I felt so unwelcome after speaking to her and I pray no one else has had a similar experience with that worker. Every other worker was so sweet and helpful, though. I will not be coming back to this studio.

The classes are fun, high energy, and a great combination of cardio and strength training. I leave every class feeling stronger and more energized. What I appreciate most is how welcoming the environment is. The instructors do a great job motivating everyone while still making the class feel supportive and encouraging. Whether you're new to fitness or have been working out for years, you can go at your own pace and still get a great workout. I also love that the workouts change often, so it never gets boring. The mix of music, movement, and strength training makes the time go by quickly. If you're looking for a workout that is effective, positive, and actually fun to attend, I highly recommend Jazzercise with Jodie and all of the amazing instructors.

I feel so fit, so strong and so confident! Huge shoutout to Jodi the owner and jazzercise instructor - she is one badass woman. Recalling my first class, I will say the first class is surprisingly intimidating, and I think that's normal. Everyone will feel like a fish out of water at first, but JUST KEEP GOING. There will be a point where you start to memorize the dance moves (the instructors will repeat the same dance moves in their songs), and pretty soon you will be in-sync, gliding across the room with all the other women like one big drill team. For anyone wondering what jazzercise is, the best way I can explain it is: think of Zumba & Pilates in one, and yes! We do use weights/mats. We start with stretching, move on to cardio/dance to get the heart rate up, then legs, then arms, then abs. Our classes will have every part of your body on fire. And for reference, I am a 26F athlete, and this class kicks my ass. Also, Jazzercise is equally as challenging as it is FUN. I've never had so much fun working out. If you're curious, the first class is free so no harm done! Give it a try and we'll see you there!

To access you enter in the rear of the building off of Second Ave. between College and Howard. There is free parking lot behind the building shared with Bank of America and a few other businesses. I am attending the Level I classes so I will cannot comment on Levels II & III but I am very impressed with their program so far. It differs from other Yoga classes I have taken at various fitness clubs in that the class moves at a slower pace. Instead of flowing quickly from pose to pose there is more time spent trying to achieve proper alignment. They also encourage greater use of props such as blankets, blocks, and straps than I have seen before. I am recovering from a back injury and after a year of physical therapy my physical therapist recommended Yoga to help lengthen tight muscle groups, strengthen smaller underutilized muscles, and improve posture. I am very cautious about reinjuring myself so I value the extra time the instructors take to teach proper alignmment. It is possible that some might find the pace of the class too slow. Those students might enjoy the Level II & III classes. I find that I can always challenge myself in class so I am not looking for more at this point. Classes are $15 for walk ins and there are discounts available for multiple class packages.
