I've been working with Fit By Tahys for about three months and am very inspired and so excited by my results. I've tried a variety of apps and a personal trainer in the past few years, but lost momentum with each when I didn't see the progress I was hopeful for. I LOVE the FitByTahys meal prep service. Honestly, this service is the perfect fit for my life: I live by myself; I want to be as healthy as possible; I want to get shredded; I want to save time; and I don't need to aggressively optimize my food budget like I did in grad school. Thank goodness. Haha. I've been eating the FitByTahys meals for 8 weeks now. I was using a different meal prep service for 8 weeks before that. I'm consistently losing 1.5-2.0 pounds per week of body fat, I'm lifting more than ever, and I'm slowly-but-surely getting rid of my grad student dad bod. In total, I have lost 27 pounds of body fat in 16 weeks. Yaaass! I was using a similar service in San Francisco (Thistle, also great, but only available in California). So when I moved to Seattle in September, I immediately looked into meal prep services and settled on FitByTahys. I'm so happy I did. I get the 15 meal per week option with 8oz of protein per meal, and I pay by the month to get the biggest possible discount. I don't select meals individually. Instead, I let Tahys mix it up. I choose to get the meals delivered to my apartment for maximum time savings. Here are the main things I love about FitByTahys. 1. I love all the time it saves me. Of course you could do all your meal prep yourself, but in practice, when are you going to do it? Probably on your day off. But time on your day off is the most valuable! Tahys also keeps all the calories and macronutrients consistent across all the meals, so calorie counting is completely effortless, leading to even more time savings. 2. I'm lazy. I love that the FitByTahys meals make it so the easiest laziest thing I can possibly do is to eat perfectly. I basically don't keep food in my house except for the FitByTahys meals, unless I'm cooking with friends. So eating anything else would require going significantly out of my way (e.g., to the grocery store or the pizza shop down the street). But because I'm so lazy, I almost never feel like doing this. So with the FitByTahys meals, my laziness works for me rather than against me. 3. The pricing is reasonable. As far as I'm aware, the FitByTahys meals work out to approximately $15 per meal, or $45 per day. The lowest I've ever got my food budget in grad school was about $25 per day, when I really optimized it, but I would end up consuming more calories than I wanted. I've certainly had to mentally adjust to spending 1.8x as much money for fewer calories than my grad school diet. But it's totally worth it! In the end, I decided that I don't need help eating cheap delicious unhealthy food. It's already easy to do that. I need help getting shredded, and eating healthy food that still tastes good! And after you factor in the cost of your own time, the pricing is even more reasonable. 4. Compared to Thistle, I like the FitByTahys meals better. With Thistle, I would get the craziest hunger cravings at the end of the day. But with FitByTahys, I find that I don't get too hungry. I think this is because the (relatively generous) 8oz of protein in each meal is better at making me feel full for longer. I also believe FitByTahys meals are slightly cleaner and less calorie dense than Thistle, so I'm eating a larger volume of food and coming in at the same overall calorie budget. 5. I found it very difficult to find a local food prep company that made nutritional, healthy, and delicious meals, until I randomly stumbled across "Fit by Tahys". I have used many food prep companies in the past, however they were never local and charged over $50-$75 for shipping, as well the meals were frozen and not fresh. As a past competitive national level bodybuilder, I alway's try to eat healthy, however now having 2 young children, work demands, and life in general, things can get quite busy and prepping and cooking healthy meals can be quite demanding and challenging at times. So, when I found "Fit by Tahys" this was something I was very interested in as I was starting a 16 week intense diet and workout program, and I needed the support with my meals. I would order 15 meals a week and every meal was somewhat different, which made this food prep company unique, for example I would order 2 meals with 7 oz shrimp, 4 oz peppers and onions and green beans, and 3 oz of quinoa. Another meal may be 7 oz organic chicken breast, 3 oz broccoli, 4 oz yams, another meal would be 7 oz flank steak, 4 oz brown rice, 6 oz asparagus, onions and peppers, another meal 6 oz cod, 4 oz white rice, 6 oz green beans, onions and peppers, etc etc. So, I would make the meals custom with great detail so they would never get boring. Tahy's would even do special things for me such as "cut my green beans" into small bite sized portions, etc. She was awesome!! I was eating approximately 4 meals a day for 16 weeks. I ended up loosing over 25 pounds just from eating her meals in that time. It was so convenient having the meals ready and on hand fresh, in my fridge or freezer. I also chose the meals getting delivered to my house, which was really a nice perk as well. I also found the pricing to be reasonable and actually quite good compared to other food prep companies, and these meals were by far better quality and better tasting. Of course when I was eating 4 meals a day, it could get somewhat expensive, however for the regular person who is trying to eat healthier, they most likely would not be eating 4 meals a day like myself. I did much research with pricing the meals, and if I was to go to the grocery store and purchase all the food for the meals which I ordered through "Fit by Tahy's" it would be quite expensive, not even including how long it would take me to prep and cook all that food. I would be spending hours and hours cooking in the kitchen, and at this time I did not have that luxury. Dieting and eating healthy is not an easy thing, however having meals that are tasteful, flavorful, healthy, and ready to eat makes dieting so much easier, and eliminates the need to "cheat " on your diet, when your food is ready and waiting in the fridge. All in All I would definitely recommend Tahy's food prep meals, she was very easy to communicate with if I had any questions, etc. I could text her, or email her and she would respond in a timely manner. I really wanted to leave an in-depth review for this food prep company as living in Seattle I would have thought there would have been so much more healthy food prep services such as "Fit by Tays", but to be honest I could not find any? Other than companies like "Blue Apron" etc and those are not what I was looking for at all. (Before, I was familiar with using a gym, but only really went around using whatever machines and hoping the weights/reps were enough.) Tahys helped me establish a well-rounded fitness routine that balanced cardio, machines, and free weights, and targeted specific muscle groups per workout. She also got me set on a schedule for increasing weights and reps as I got stronger (which I could easily adjust when I had unfortunately long gaps between workouts and lost some strength).
