A friend asked me to try pole dancing class with her a couple of months ago, so I signed up for a Tuesday class with Monica. I was immediately hooked, I also immediately sucked! You know how people say things like that for a compliment? Well, I'm saying it in truth, stating facts here; I am not good. However, I don't care and no one else cares either! I have a great time, I never feel embarrassed, I never feel judged, like everyone is there for a good time, radiates positive energy and body positivity. So although I suck, I'm sticking to it, so one day I can climb up that pole and buss it wide open! I have gone fairly consistently at once a week since I started and I have tried four different instructors thus far. I have my favorites, but they are all great and they all have there different styles, techniques and strengths. I always learn something, I always have fun and I always leave feeling like I've had a good workout, not to mention I can always tell I've had a good workout the following day as I'm sore. I'm not gonna lie, the classes aren't cheap and the classes are popular, so you have to sign up for the class you want well in advance (about three weeks). Okay so grab your group of friends and get your butts in here for a fun workout! Fit 4 Polers was a joy. Our instructor was fantastic. She was friendly and let us pick the type of music we wanted to hear. I attended for a friend's birthday and I'm hooked. You'll feel sexy and clumsy (unless you already had experience), but most of all you'll learn how strong your body is. The workouts require core and arm strength of course. So if you already workout you'll be good. The studio is so cute inside! There are various instructors for each class and that work at different levels. Our instructor was great at teaching basics and intermediate and she also showed us a few advance tricks that guess what? We were about to pull off! Lol Lots of fun and sweat. I came here for a floor work class about a month ago. It was pretty cool. I've realized that floor work is definitely not for me, but the instructor was really nice. He did a great job of making sure everyone kept up and was able to do the various moves. I would definitely like to come back and try aerial. I would also like to potentially try some pole work. BUYER BEWARE: This FIT4Polers location does not honor their Groupons - false advertising! WORSE: Their website billing page PERMANENTLY captures your credit card info and does not offer you the privilege of deleting your credit card data unlike every other billing site, I have used in the past. I'd purchased a Groupon for 10 classes and learned while auditing my credit card transactions that they charged me $25 each for 2 classes, representing a $50 overpayment. When I contacted Nicole, the manager for resolution she refused to honor the Fit4Polers Groupon that I paid $146 for. In dealing with Nicole, I realized the Groupon scam is something in which is is well versed, apart from her lack of customer service, there is conflicting language in their Groupon Ad and they're using a billing site that does not accept their own Groupon Redemption code. As a new student I am appalled by their business practices. Worse, Nicole refused to delete my credit card information from their billing page, which means they can continue to bill me without my knowledge or approval, in perpetuity. QUESTIONABLE INSTRUCTION: The "beginner's class" that I took does not teach the mechanics. Mostly the class is promoted as "a safe space", a place to "burn calories" and "get away for an hour". If you want to learn pole techniques as a beginner, you're unlikely to get it here. If you want to burn calories, blow off steam or you have already learned the foundational techniques at another studio, it might well be up your alley. That said, I'll be looking elsewhere since I specifically signed up to learn Pole dance techniques - and they cannot deliver effectively on this. Respectfully, their instructor who was often confused and disoriented. She could benefit from a class herself on how to properly teach students on Pole technique. In fact, it was a lot easier for me to understand the mechanics of pole technique from a fellow student than from the instructor. read more

I went to this studio for 7 months when I first moved to the DMV area and have been poling for 2 years in total. Overall, this studio is satisfactory for a one-time deal or short-term fun. But for those of you who are trying to get really good at pole as a sport or art, this place lacks structure and let me break it down for you so you know the full truth. The unlimited classes deal for $125 is probably one of the greatest downfalls of the studio. It sounds great at first because that is significantly cheaper than the other studios around. No other studio in the DMV does unlimited so at first I joined because of that. However there are not enough classes to accommodate for this unlimited feature. Every time you sign up for a class, it's full. And people hog the classes because of how easy it is to not get in. The cancellation policy is extremely lax for a studio that does unlimited as well which leads to people signing up for classes and canceling last minute. Good luck getting into the beginner classes at this studio without signing up a couple of months in advance. Another thing about this studio that disappointed me was the lack of versatility in classes. There are almost no intermediate classes so you go from beginner to advance. And again because of the unlimited feature, there are advanced individuals who take beginner classes-- making the culture in beginner classes very unwelcoming. If you have never taken pole before and see these pole goddesses just inverting and going upside down when the instructor asked you to simply do a pole sit, it sets a very unwelcoming tone for beginners. This leads to another issue I had-- there are no limits or even discouragement for advanced polers to stop taking beginner classes. At my old studio, advanced polers were discouraged from taking beginner classes and people had to test to get into intermediate and advanced classes. At this studio, there are no tests, no rules. It's really just a free for all and the classes have no real guidelines. And because of the lack of structure, the classes lack a true foundational build up. The beginner classes don't have a curriculum and the instructors don't teach you basic things such as how to sit or how to climb consistently. I also see people at this studio have improper form in both climbing and inverting while the instructors never even make a comment to help them fix it-- allowing them to keep taking advanced classes when they have bad form that can lead to injury. Lastly, there's a weird negative culture against spin pole at this studio. There is only one spin pole class and most of the students and even instructors tend to say negative things about spin pole which honestly is just not right because there are many forms of pole dance and spin is one of them that as a pole studio, there should be a culture of embracing all pole styles. Overall, this studio may entice you in the beginning but at the end, you're better off going to a more pricey studio for quality over quantity. read more

I've been trying to come here consistently (I kind of fail that one) for about 5 months now. I had always been interested in trying pole, but of course felt insecure and didn't want to go unless a friend went with me. After a long time of not finding any takers, I said screw it, bought a groupon, and went alone :) I'm really glad I did that, because the groupon classes were enough to convince me to try and come at least once a week. At first it can be intimidating when others who have been there awhile look great and you feel very unsexy and awkward. The thing is, no one cares what you look like as long as you're having fun. Liking the class really depends on who is your instructor, and how hard you personally want to try in the class. Everyone, from the front desk, instructor, to fellow classmates are really nice in my experience. It's a convenient location across from Huntington Metro Station and just off 495. The parking lot is a little annoying, and the front waiting area can get packed when waiting in between classes, but they're pretty small cons to me. read more

Its been a month since my initial review and I am updating It since I've had a chance to take a few of the instructor's classes. All the instructors are great and each have their own teaching style. The main classes I have been going to are Nellie's and Laydia's. I love and NEED To learn the technical side of Pole fitness which Nellie is great for and definitely gives you tips and options for working the pole. When I am in Laydia's classes I am challenged by having to come out of my conservative shell and feeling like I'm on stage(which is awesome) classes are more choreography with tricks (i have a lot of work) . Hands down any of the classes is a real workout. No matter how strong you are or how fast you can run pole fitness will have you appreciate and respect this sport. My sis and bestie booked this place for my bachelorette party! We had a good time! This was my first time taking a pole class and at first I was frustrated lol but Crystal was fun! We also split into two teams and came up with a dance routine! The owner Nicole was really nice too and came in during class to show us some moves! I am officially a Poletician!! I purchased a Groupon for several classes here and subsequently registered for them on the MINDBODY app. The first class I registered for was full so I was put on the waitlist. The day of the class, I received an email saying I'd been taken off the waitlist. On my way there that evening, I received a phone call and was informed there was an activation date for my Groupon. The date was not until the end of August, so I would need to pay for the class. I was told I'd be charged regardless of whether or not I attended because cancellations must be made 3 hours prior to the start of class (even though I was only being notified 30 minutes before it was supposed to begin). Seeing as I was going to lose my money anyway, I felt I had no choice but to go to the class. It went fairly well. The instructor did not make any effort to make me feel welcome when I got there, so I stood around awkwardly for quite some time. Her level of instruction was far too advanced for a beginner. However, she was supportive and encouraging, and I did enjoy my time in the studio. Later, I reached out to Groupon, which gave me a credit since their website did not mention an activation date. I then reached out to the owner of Fit 4 Polers to request a refund for my class since I wasn't given reasonable notice in order to cancel. The owner was unabashedly unprofessional and refused to give me a refund. She accused me of not reading the fine print of the Groupon (which, to reiterate, wasn't even listed on my purchase or the website). She said that had I skipped the class, she would have given me a refund for the cancellation fee. I told her that this was never presented as an option. I told her I would not be returning to her studio. Here is an excerpt of her response: "Unfortunately the only thing I can do at this point since you have taken the class is credit the $25 to your studio account IF you purchased the deal again from Groupon and use 1 of the classes for the class you have taken. I can adjust the activation date myself. However, you stated that you would not return, so there is not much I can do for you. On a positive note, I am happy that Groupon was able to accommodate you, even if we weren't." (She can adjust the activation date? Why couldn't she adjust it earlier so this whole conflict could have been avoided?! Considering how many other reviews address very similar situations, I can't help but think something strange is going on with this business. I contacted another pole studio in the area that uses Groupon and they seemed surprised when I asked about an activation date.) The owner proceeded to go through the security footage and implied that because I appeared to have a "positive energy" on camera that I must not have felt like I didn't choice about going to the class. I'm sorry, was I supposed to be rude to the receptionist over a ridiculous policy the owner made? Of course I was going to try to make the best of a bad situation, but that doesn't mean I wasn't wronged. I have never in my life encountered a person so unwilling to make accommodations when they were clearly responsible for the conflict. Groupon took ownership for their role in the mix-up, but Fit 4 Polers pointed fingers. That speaks volumes about the quality of customer service that this place. read more

Save yourself the headache and do NOT book a private party here. Apparently the receptionists here, particularly the one that goes by the name of Iyana or whatever, is an incompetent fool and needs everything to be spelled out for her. I was interested in having a birthday party and called, asking if any parties/events were booked on my bday and if not, I would like to book a time slot for a party. I also wanted to increase the party time from 1.5 hours to two and asked the receptionist how much that would be. The girl (Iyana) said that NOTHING was booked on my birthday and I can go ahead and schedule that day for party but she would first ask her manager about additional time and get back to me. The next day, the manager/owner named Sunny called me back. Sunny is the most rude and unprofessional woman I ever had the displeasure of speaking to. I gave her the time slot I wanted and she told me that the studio is not available for any parties on my bday. Apparently, there is an event that had been already booked weeks ago and it was an all day thing. I was confused because I spoke to the receptionist the night before and she told me the studio was free that day. Here's what pissed me off - When I was explaining to Sunny that I was upset the girl gave me the wrong information, she had the audacity to tell me the way I asked the girl wasn't clear enough, therefore that's why I got the wrong info. This is exactly what happened: When I called the day before, I asked "Is anything BOOKED on Saturday, October 21st because that is my bday and I wanted to schedule a party." The girl says no and tells me more information about how private parties work. Says manager will call back to discuss pricing. But according to Sunny, because I didn't specifically word the inquiry along the lines of "Is Oct 21st, AVAILABLE," that it was my fault. What the hell is the difference between asking if an event is already booked for a certain date and IF NOT, I would like to proceed, vs. asking if something is AVAILABLE. And during the conversation I repeated several times to the girl Oct 21 so she definitely knew what day I was looking for. Sunny also hung up the phone on me as I was speaking to her because she couldn't admit they were wrong and simply apologize. When I called back she lied and said her computer screen disconnected her phone on me. Wtf? This business has terrible customer service, poor communication skills and incompetent receptionists who can't get the simplest information correct. The reason I wanted this place because it was the only studio in the DMV area that doesn't charge an arm and a leg for parties AND they allowed alcohol in the studio. If you ever want to book a party, make sure you spell the whole alphabet for them because comprehension is lacking. read more

The studio is a good size and staff are kind. Or at least the two I have met. It's a great workout and a lot of fun. The instructor is attentive and very helpful. I really like this pole studio! I started from zero here, and learned a good deal over the last couple years coming sporadically. The community is fantastic - everyone is super encouraging and supportive. There's always a lot of laughing and fun, which is great when you're trying to do something ridiculous and ungracefully failing horribly LOL. Men are welcome, people of all sizes are welcome. The more experienced folks are happy to give tips and cheer you on. Really no snark, no reason to be self-conscious. There's a good variety of classes - so you can experiment and see which type of class and which instructor fits best with you. A few went too fast for me and I couldn't remember or do a lot of the choreography. Most classes I've tried consisted of a longish warmup with lots of stretching, learning a short choreographed sequence incorporating several elements, running through the whole routine and freestyling to music once or twice, then cooling down briefly. I had a couple favorite classes. The first is All levels with Colleen - which in my experience had a lot of choreography and transitions to learn, with easy to hard options given to try for each major element. Colleen is great at breaking things down into simple bits, and gives detailed instructions on important things like hand placement etc. I also like Nel's intermediate class, which has been more about learning a few specific isolated moves per class in great technical detail. That's helpful for someone with crap short term memory like me - I need basic things drilled in with repetition. The amount of workout you get will probably depend on what the routine is, but usually arms and core get tons of strength training. Skin also hurts a lot. But it's been great fun! read more

I have taken two classes here so far and I have really enjoyed it. I was looking for a different and challenging workout, so I decided to try it out. I initially took the free class on Friday night just to see if I would like it. The class sampled all of the different classes they offer (for ex, Pole 1, Pole 2, Chair). I think it is great that they offer this free class so you can check it out and if you decide it is not for you, you didn't lose any money. I also took a Chair class, and was impressed with how the instructor challenged me, but at the same time understood that everyone is at a different level. I really appreciated that the instructor gave everyone individual attention and made sure we were each doing the moves correctly. She definitely challenged me to do moves I didn't think I could do. She was fun and positive, and I liked her music choices. I drove (it is also metro accessible) and I had no trouble finding parking. I agree with the other reviewer that mentioned it would be nice if their reception area was a little bigger, but overall I have had a great experience here! read more

Honestly, I have never had a worse experience in a fitness studio, including but not limited to other pole studios, spin classes, yoga studios, Boxing, CrossFit,Pilates boutiques, corporate gyms.. you get my point. I signed up in advance for an "open level" inversion focused class. I wanted to practice shoulder stands and whatever other fun stuff I've previously enjoyed. I was immediately told that the front desk lady was the manager and that I shouldn't be there because I was not advanced enough even though I had some experience and have always had a good time in any level class. I felt judged, uncomfortable, and completely unwelcomed from the moment I walked in. Any manager of a fitness studio for a pole dancing place, which already has a negative stigma attached to it, should really try to welcome new and interested people rather than shy them away for no apparent reason. I'm really disappointed by this place and would rather give my business and fun energy to pole pressure in dc where I have never had this experience. read more

I was looking for places to take classes, and i came upon this studio. I called to inquire about their services and classes, the woman who answered said she's the manager. She was very unprofessional and rude. she gave me 0 incentive to want to attend any classes. i asked if i can stop by she told me she's going home, so i asked to come in before she leaves she said okay then called me back 2 minutes later to tell me their insurance policy won't allow me to come check it out. i just think she used this excuse to get rid of me because she wanted to go home early. i just wanted to get a feel of the place and check it out before being locked in a membership. Very rude and poor customer service skills. Save yourself the trouble, if this is how the manager is then i can't imagine how the place is run. read more

I took a class for the first time. The instructor showed up 30 minutes late. What made it worse was the receptionist wouldn't let us sit in the classroom, even though there was nothing going on in there. Instead we were packed like sardines in the tiny waiting room. She could have informed us we were not allowed to use the poles while waiting, if that was the concern. The receptionist said the instructor was running a "few" minutes late - just FYI, 30 is not a few. It was disrespectful of my time. They should have offered refunds or at least just told the truth about how late the instructor was going to be. I might have been more satisfied if I had been waiting comfortably- but the lack of thoughtfulness was salt in the wound. read more

Overall, my class was just ok. It was a beginner class but I didn't feel that it was really set for beginners at all. Luckily the regulars near me gave me lots of tips. I went FIT 4 Pole because I was training for a competition, and I was told they had a great open pole class. The girls immediately made me feel welcome even though it was not my home studio and they knew I danced elsewhere. Colleen in particular helped me smooth out some transitions, gave me some pointers, and helped me come up with an easier yet pretty move for my routine. If I did not live so far away (almost an hour) I would definitely buy class packs. A little bit about the space: They have 45 mm poles, about 9 feet apart, and all their poles spin. I'm almost hesitant to reveal this gem of a spot for competitors, but they are so great they deserve a glowing review. This place is great for guys and gals looking to take regular classes and those looking for a great open gym to practice routines. read more

I started at this studio in June 2018 after not poling consistently for about 8 months after my previous studio closed down. I can say I have found a new home. The instructors all have very different styles of teaching but they are all great, very helpful and welcoming. Jumping back into pole after a hiatus was not easy, but the instructors worked with me, providing modifications, spots, and that extra push whenever needed. And you learn something new in every class. The owner is great. When I had a problem that could have potentially forced me to stop poling (nothing to do with the studio), she was responsive and worked hard to help find a solution. You get a great work out with the firm and flexy classes that they offer and the actual pole session offer more technique. The worst professional dance studio experience I have ever had. I come from NY where dance studio etiquette is the single most important thing about a dance business. I came here expecting to get what was promised to me-- first two classes free. Not only did the very first class I came to start A HALF HOUR LATE (because the receptionist locked the keys in the building), but she told me AFTER I TOOK THE CLASS that I owe $25 for the class I just took. When I explained that I was promised that it was free because of a groupon through the mindbody app that the company F.I.T 4 Pole had purchased for new customers, she called the owner, and with a very nasty tone, told me to wait because the owner will be here shortly. After a FOURTY FIVE minute discussion with the owner after class, I was so fed up, that I kindly offered to pay for the class and never come back to this studio. Her response was "you could buy the new Groupon for 2 classes for $22 instead". I never wanted to come back to this place, so I paid the $25 for the one class, explained that this company should never make promises that they cannot keep, and that I will never come back. The only good thing about this place was my teacher during my very shortened class time. I wish she taught somewhere else. I'd go there instead cause she was awesome. **If you do not want to pay for a class that was promised to be free, if you do not want to waste an extra 45 minutes after class discussing the promotional deal with the manager, and if you do not want to leave a studio feeling unwelcome and angry.... if you've been to a good pole studio before, you know this place kinda sucks. nicole, who owns the place? or at least manages it remotely from fl has poor customer service skills bordering on rudeness. with that tone set, it's unsurprising that many of the instructors, while beautiful dancers, leave a lot to be desired. think (and these are just things i've experienced first hand) instructors arriving to class late and sitting in their car for 5 minutes, showing no hustle while everyone waits outside, and starting class 15 minutes late with no apology or acknowledgement of other people's time; instructors ignoring some students and not giving any instructions, feedback, or modification... you get the idea. the only good teacher i've had there is ruthy, who is wonderful but a sub and not there regularly. honestly... just go somewhere else if you want to learn anything or just have a good experience. most of the instructors make it very clear they don't give an eff and can't be bothered to treat you with respect. read more

I was recently at the studio this past January under an alias but can I say I had a blast. I knew from the easy way I was able to sign up for the class over the phone with the Front Desk Maria. She answered all my questions and didnt make me feel like she just wanted my business. She assured me for what I wanted to learn and do which was have fun with a workout and get a lil sexy with it, was all there at their studio. Guess what? She was right. Im still sore lol but in a good way and when I get myself some more free time Im buying a membership! I like how she lets you know there are drop in fees to pay in the beginning if you want to try it before you get into a memebership or other packs. Laydia was magical! She was the instructor. I have been taking pole from Pole Pressure Alexandria for nearly a year now, and thanks to this group of strong, talented, and incredibly dedicated women, I have fallen in love with Pole more than anything else I've ever done! The classes allow us to choose our own challenges and to push ourselves while laughing, dancing, and just being ourselves. Pole Pressure instructors are a group of inspiring, happy, and hardworking coaches that remember us, push us, and never give up on us when learning the art of pole! Honestly, it's been the most fun I have ever had working out! I'm addicted and can't believe how far I've come. Most importantly, not only are the instructors amazing, but all my fellow pole friends are the icing on the cake! I went to FIT 4 Pole on Monday and took Free Inhibition Time for Pole (All-levels) with Colleen and LOVED it!!! The class was truly all levels and ended with a pose that was modified to fit every level. I enjoyed FIT so much that I went back on Thursday for FIT Like Me (Intermediate) with Laydia and was challenged with two different pole transitions! I felt very comfortable with both instructors- they were very warm and personable- and the other students in the class were very welcoming and encouraging! Inverting is always intimidating but I felt secure knowing that a spotter was readily available. Colleen and Laydia were available to watch me transition from one move to another and tell me what I can do to make the transition smoother and more successful. Both have such wonderful and energetic personalities!!! The studio itself is pristine! You walk into the lobby/seating area and are greeted by a receptionist and an array of pole clothes which I LOVE because I have a hard time finding shorts and tanks and sports bras that I like. Everything in the studio is well organized and clean. This is the beginning of a beautiful relationship!!!
