This place is so cool. It looks pretty simple place from the outside. But inside it's cool. Its family owned and it has been here for a long time. They have some really big fish here. A huge gigantic display of a large fish is one of the first things you see when you walk in They also have a good variety of diferent types of tropical and salt water fish. They are beautiful. The store is really dark in the inside. It's not a big store but its pretty stocked. To the top in fish stuff. I saw plants, fish food, colorful rocks. This place is your one stop fish store. They have a sign outside that list the new operation hours. There is plenty of parking. The stores young attendants are very nice and helpful. We purchased i think its called cardinal tetres. Five of them we lost one but the others are doing well. It is a place I would come back to. read more

Short version: Service is always lacking (young kids running the shop) - they will sell you weak/sick fish. Long version: Last week I went and purchased several Rummy nose @$2.99 each - this is actually a good price compared to other shops. The guy said he had them in the back and as he rung me up I noticed they had no color which indicates stress - he said they just got them I thought nothing of it and went home. Days later I noticed my 2 years established planted tank had an Ick outbreak with the newly bought fish covered and half of them died nearly 3 days later. Then I remember he said he just got them so they did not quarantine/ treat the fish. I tested my water and called it a loss. I went back to the shop thought I'll buy 20x more and see if it happens I had a bad batch - I walk in waited waited waited waited got tired of waiting to be acknowledged and left. read more

Joe (owner) trying to make it all work after a fire took out most of the shop. Anthony pretty knowledgeable. Hope they make it as they are a staple in the hobby after 50+ years. They have some nice saltwater fish at competitive prices. Haven't had any issues with ich either although I quarantine all my fish. Please go by and give them your business as we need more local fish stores and can hardly afford to lose these guys. They are open while they work through the fire loss. They're reliable and honest. This is a family run business since 1968, and they really know what they are doing. The building is a stand alone and doesn't look like much from the outside- but this is what makes this place a truly hidden gem! I've literally been coming here my entire life. When I was in elementary school (not too too long ago!) My parents had a fish tank built into a wall in the living room behind the couch. They decided that they should have a salt water tank- and then realized that maintaining such a tank was quite an undertaking. To help them they enlisted the assistance of Fish's Paradise. From fish to sea horses, feeding and water changes, FP was there every step of the way. The tank that they have at the front of the store is nothing short of impressive. The fish in the tank are not for sale- and are roughly the size of a small dog. If you are ever there for feeding time it is quite a site!! The size of the fish is a testament to the caliber of expertise that the owners have with keeping up fish tanks. Getting back to my story- I hadn't been to to FP in a while- Shortly after MR L. and I got married- we inherited a 10 gallon tank with a pleco and the fish tank quickly became our hobby. We decided that we would have a fresh fish tank and started with easy fish like guppies, and then progressed to the aggressive cichlids. After a few months it dawned on me that I had to introduce the Mr to FP- and he was quite impressed (which is difficult to do, so it felt like a real win!) There is about about half the store dedicated to salt water fish, invertebrates, and other salt water animals - the displays are quite beautiful and they get in some really exotic species - but of course I am more interested in the fresh water fish of which there is also a wide variety and some exotic fish and plecos as well. The people who work here really know a lot about fish and are extremely helpful with picking out fish for your tank. This is a great place for novice and advanced hobbyists. read more

Kids were running the store on the day I arrived. The kid helping us was occupied with someone/ something else. Tried to ask a question to another employee, to which he replied "I wasn't helping you ask him". Then proceeded to yell across the building for the other employee. At checkout we were met with more children tossing profanities back and forth. You guys have a good selection of fish and aquatics but seriously need to train these children on customer service. read more

It is actually "minus-1 star". A neighborhood store. Maybe they are OK for someone coming there all the time... not sure that those regulars are getting a decent deal though. We came; saw a dying fish. Got it. Asked the guy for the food for it. He did have his fun: sold us a bottle of concentrated fitoplankton when was asked for a bottle of refrigerated pods. My better half had audacity to ask how to use - "pour the whole thing right into your tank" said the old as***le-joker. Well, the tank will be OK; lots of effort will go into it though. Not gonna fret about it much - we'll let AmEx deal with that charge. And, hey, Karma is always watching... Coming in out of the sweltering FL sun into cool darkness you are hit with the "pan-sized" cichlid tank and right away and all you can think of is WOW ! In business since 1968, (about as long as I have had aquariums myself)...they know a lot about fish and probaly have a doctoral degree in how to run a fish store ! I thought it was about 50/50 fresh/ salt and a good variety of turtles, invertebrates, and a few walls of small tank divisions of spectacular salt water fish.Many sizes of the same type of fish and oddities you do not see in other fish stores in the area. The prices were reasonable and it was a pretty complete collection of anything to do with fish. All the fish looked healthy and the staff offered assistance to me..but hey IT WAS VERY APPARENT..I needed a better job to buy a big, big, tank and have them set it up for my own personal eye candy. They do sell tanks, filters, medicines and overhearing the staff they sound quite experienced, Their business card says they do custom installations and servicing as well..so give them a look. At the very least you will have the full picture of what can be care for well in your tank given the experienced instruction of this classic neighborhood fish store. read more

If I had to be picky about something i just wish they had a larger variety of aquatic plants and more of a variety in Guppies. No biggie. Wonderful shop. They sell RO water, freshwater, and saltwater for water changes, good prices - Bring your own jug. They did free water testing, which is how I found out I had ammonia in my water, so this saved my fish! They also offer more in depth testing for a smallish fee. They have everything from Saltwater monster size fish, Bettas, guppies, platies, cory's, snails, Red shrimp, blue shrimp, ive Brine shrimp, Live blood worms, frozen brine and worms, rocks, driftwood, tanks, lights, nets, good advice, testing kits, meds, This is a great LFS! 1 mile west of I95 off Hallandale, on the south side. This aquarium doesn't look like much from the outside, and isn't fancy inside. But the owner is passionate about his business, and is nice, knowledgeable, and not looking to sell something you don't need. He could easily try to upset you to something you don't really need, but he doesn't. I used to have a large aquarium, but got rid of it. I now have a smaller one, and went here for all of my supplies and fish. read more

Yet another fish store review...can you tell I am a bit obsessed with my tank? This stand alone building seems like a bunker when you first walk in the door. While walking around I found the place rather dark, with almost all of the light coming from the tanks, and only dim over head lighting. I was informed this is to help teh tanks remain alge free, and for the health of the fish, so I have nothing negative to say except watch your step. The fish here are impressive. If you are a large tank owner, this is your place. While I have not personally bought fish here, I have bought an emergency bubbler, and a tiki hut decoration. It is the tiki hut that earns the four star review. I was looking for just the right fun item for my tank. Something that looked nice, was of good quality, and had places for my fish to hide. I found the exact piece that I wanted, but it was in display tank, and would be rather difficult to take out. The owner and I walked around the store and could not find a second one, I found out that it is because the item was hand painted. When we did not find a second one, I said it was okay and not to worry about it. The owner wavied his hand and told me to wait, while he did go into the tank, retrieve the item, and cleaned it up to see to me. Note, this was a 19 dollar sale for him. Nothing expensive or ground shattering. Just a simple sale, but he was willing to go through all of that effort to see that the cumsomer was given just what he wanted. (excuse the royal he here, thank you). The place is a bit out of my way, and that is the only reason that this is not my primary fish supply store. read more

This place is great! I have a 55 gallon cichlid tank and 29 gallon planted tetra tank. I've been coming here since my first tank of 10 gallons. More freshwater than salt but still a good selection of saltwater fish. They'll order anything you're looking for. They helped me with all my questions and even took my catfish on trade when it got too big for my 55. I had no idea what I was doing at first. This place has nearly everything I was looking for. Some great bettas I really liked, beautiful halfmoons. Some cute small turtles and nerite snails. Threadfin rainbowfish to add to my collection. They had lamp eye killifish to go in my nanotank, too! The German blue rams were a little small but still my favorite. They had a bunch of great plants, even a crinum I was looking for. However, no one ever spoke to me the whole time I was there. Maybe they were too busy but one guy was talking about taking his break. Meanwhile, no one once offered to help me and I obviously couldn't help myself. So after being there long enoug to pick everything I wanted, no one spoke to me, so I left. read more

Was in the store a few days ago for my first time. I walked in and the place was pretty dark but i could see they had a very good selection of fish. I walked from tank to tank and noticed the majority of tanks were 10 gallons. Much to small for large numbers of fish and especially bad for the larger ones. Looking into each tank i saw what looked like under fed fish,some with the shimmies and a few tanks with what appeared to be signs of ich. Buyer be ware of what you are purchasing. But because the place was so dark it was difficult to examine a potential purchase. Also walking for 10-15 minutes in the store not one person working in the store came up to me to offer assistance. Not a problem, by this time i had decided not to make a risky purchase based on the stock fish i viewed in the store. I will not be back. I will keep searching for a pet store that takes pride in customer service and keeps well maintained tanks with healthy fish. read more

I personally love going to this store. The staff are all extremely helpful and knowledgeable. They have never steered me wrong. I have purchased several fish and even my first salt water tank at this store. I haven't had a single problem with any of their merchandise. The employees instructed me step by step on how to get my salt water tank started and even answered all of my never ending questions.
