I have tried hundreds of foot massage clinics -- in New York, San Francisco, London, Amsterdam, Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Thailand, Sydney, Berlin and more. Fashion remains one of my top choices and preferred location in New York. Why? They know what the hell they are doing. About the only "negatives" you have to know what you want when you are going in. And you need to be very clear if the pressure is not to you liking. What do I mean? I know that I like a "stronger" massage, a long massage and consistent pressure. Why those three things? So this was my first time here and first time getting an acupressure massage. My masseuse's name was Lucy. I literally didn't have to say anything. I wanted to give full trust for the whole "acupressure process" and honestly, she did not disappoint! She went over my whole body and went straight to my tight areas. She even did great applying the perfect pressure to the exact spot that gives me the most pain on most days. From what I understand, the therapist you get is the real indicator of the experience you will have here. I've had one pretty good massage, and one dangerously bad one. Unfortunately, to protect my fellow consumers, I've got to give Fishion 2 stars. I didn't get the woman's name, in part because I was still disoriented from the experience when I checked out. The massage was haphazard and disorganized, not following any of the methodologies or general protocols I've experienced from years of getting them. Everyone knows it's imperative to avoid the spine during a massage and here's this woman using her elbow on mine and then giggling when I pointed it out. BEST THERAPEUTIC NO FRILLS CHINA TOWN GEM I highly recommend this no frills China town message, acupuncture and herb center! I have been coming here since 1998 and each time, it is a great experience with quality therapists. Service: Foot Reflexology 60 minutes I am surprised I am not able to give 5 stars for this experience. Since this shop is a well-known place in Chinatown. Cons: 1. The water was not hot water at all. At least it's cold already. - I went to bathroom to deal with tampon since I am on period. When I come out the water is not hot at all. Maybe it's warm in the beginning but still. I told them I had to use the bathroom beforehand... Maybe they were able to wait a little bit to get the hot water? Or simply just heat up the water more? Or this is the punishment for customer who was not able to start "on-time"? I was an "walk-in" but still if you can tell me that beforehand maybe I could decide not to go to bathroom before session. 2. The massage therapist is simply not culture competent. I don't like to tell people where I am from. Since the answer it's not a clear cut. I always said:" My family is from Taiwan, and I am here for a long time." And he said: "Oh still so you are Chinese." I was not in a mood of education or trying to explain where I am from. But come on man, this is New York and a lot of people walking with a complicated background. And you must know this is a sensitive topic. Please don't bring it up if you can't handle it well. Maybe next time I should let them know I am able to speak fluent Mandarin. The experiences will probably be a little different. 3. They use paper towel to dry my "already dry" feet. Think about how you will feel if somebody is using paper towel to rub against your "already dry" feet. I felt sand paper was rubbing against my leg. Other places I have been they used hot steam towel and then dry towel. That felt nicer. Pros: 1. They are doing real reflexology points. Professional regarding pressing at correct points. Some places will just make your feet feel comfortable but not really pressing at points. 2. The space is very clean. 3. The front desk staff is very friendly. 4. The design of the space is simple modern not too overly ancient China that kind of stuffs. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT go here. I was in physical pain during and after. The worst massage I have ever gotten, and I'd hardly even call what I had done to me a massage. I felt like I paid to get put through 45 minutes of pain. My spine feels like someone took a bat to it. Aside from that, it isn't clean and the place is SO loud. I could hear workers eating and laughing during my massage. No oil was used, and I was miserable the entire time. So weird and gross. DO NOT GO. I'd give 0 stars if I could. They have a sign that says "no refunds" and I guess it's because they know people will want a refund after going here. What a waste of money and time. Went back for round "2" with John. He was nothing short of amazing as a person and a masseuse. John was a orthopedic surgeon in China and truly understands anatomy. I have frequented every parlor in town and John has exceeded my expectations. John did some stretching, acupressure, and cupping built. Into the massage. I really love this place - hidden gem of Chinatown! I have been going there for about 4 years. Shiatsu can be a bit painful, but I trust my masseuse to find tension in my body and release it. It is not a fancy place, but clean and comfy. Close your eyes, breath properly and do not be shy to let the masseuse know if they need to reduce pressure (especially if it is your first time). After my session I come home and fall asleep like a baby. I would not recommend scheduling outings or intense activities right after. Rest and relax, drink plenty of water. This place isn't clean. I broke-out immediately after my massage. No lotion or oil was used either. The staff wasn't friendly whatsoever. The massage itself wasn't good either, there was no AC so it was uncomfortably hot with a towel on my back. When I went to pay the masseuse followed me & watched me pay which made it uncomfortable to tip her. I gave her a 22% cash tip & she said something to her fellow coworkers & they all looked at me. You sit in your cubicle all day, hunched over the keyboard yelping, you're inevitably going to have knots and lots of them. Some you're painfully aware of, some you wont know you had until Fishion's masseuses get ahold of you. Oh they'll find them, and they'll work them out, whether you like it or not. Lets start by saying THIS IS NOT A SPA. It is spartan. But it is also clean and safe. You get what you pay for, a no frills great massage. I got turned on to Fishion when I practiced martial arts and too often had bumps, bruises, sprains and strains. They always fixed me up but just how enjoyable or painful it was completely depends on who you get. I won't tell you my favorites, they're too busy already, but suffice to say none are bad, just some are better than others. I went there a couple days after the NY Marathon and had them work on my legs. I got someone with very bad English who soon had me fighting back the tears and wincing, to which I got "hold still, you've got sickness!" Although I thought it would kill me I felt like a million bucks when he was done. The price cant be beat. They offer gift certificates so you can give your friends a rub. They take credit cards but paying cash will save you a couple bucks. They get pretty busy on weekends but they take reservations. Don't let the entrance put you off. Its tucked away down a narrow alley. A cheap as it is I wish it was more convenient so I could make it a regular stop at the end of the week. read more

I only went to him once since I wasn't feeling him. I went to see him to balance my chi. Why was he asking me what's wrong? He didn't take my blood pressure and he did not examine me like he supposed to. He was busy asking me about my problems without trying to tell me himself by examining me. When I go and visit my hometown acupuncturist - I am going to tell her he sucks. Not to mention when he was cupping me - I felt like I was hallucinating because I kept on hearing whispers and movements but nobody was in the room. The facility is incredibly clean and organized (for a Chinatown massage place). $45 for 1 hour (if you pay by cash, otherwise $46 for card) before tip. No frills, so don't expect candles, aromatherapy, or yoga music. They can do an oil massage if you request. Otherwise they will massage through the sheet. They do deep tissue massages, so it was pretty painful during the massage but I felt great afterward. You're separated into stalls so there's more privacy (somewhat) than some chinatown places where you're herded into a big shared room separated by curtains. The downside to this is that it can be very noisy. Got stuck with an obnoxious customer next door who would not. stop. talking. about her work as a social worker, her week's schedule, and commenting on every little problem going on in her life and why she needed a massage. Surprisingly clean and comfortable! The massage itself was a little uncomfortable but for the most part it was relatively soothing enough (for me at least) to just fall asleep. They massage your neck, head, even the scalp, legs, and the back! They didn't massage the feet though, which I wish they did. And they also didn't get all my neck cramps out. For the most part, it was an enjoyable experience. I would definitely come again. The bathrooms were tiny, but clean. But the sinks were outside... Overall, well worth the money. But what it lacks in atmosphere, it makes up for in the skill and professionalism of the massage therapists. They are truly therapeutic. At many points in time, the massage was quite uncomfortable as Anna (highly recommend) worked out every last knot and kink in my neck and shoulders. Have been here once a week for two years now, time for a review. My husband spent $$$ on a luxury spa&massage place somewhere in midtown as a gift for my birthday, the voucher still hasn't been redeemed after sitting on the shelf for 8 months. I told him for my next bday, Please buy me Fishion gift card(which they do have!) For massage, I like the Chinese way, cut the candle scent and oil crap... As a graphic designer I easily spend 14 hours a day sitting down in front of the computer. Of course it comes with hardcore back and neck pains, so happy to find this place and always looking forward to the weekend to get massaged. For this place you kinda have to try everyone and find out who's the right one for you, I wasted some money on bad massages along the way but ended up finding the right people, still worth it. My top 2 recommendations would be Katie and John A. Personally, I go for Katie more often than John. Katie would be a perfect choice if you are looking for a head-toe full body session(about 45 mins-1 hour), her hands are so strong, she is very good, so friendly, quiet, barely speaks english which doesn't matter. Just finger point out to her where is the pain and she will do the work. Always feel so refreshed after. Sometimes the place gets busy on the weekend so the front girl constantly checks on them to see how much time left so they can take the next guest, Katie always takes her time without any rush. I often tip her more than 25% which I think she really deserves it. Wish I could take her home! She barely has walk-in availability on the weekend, make sure to call to book her. John A is considered as the "master" here, he trained Coco and Sophia(who are the "celebrity" massage girls here) . He's always booked up during the weekend from early morning. During the session he likes to concentrate on one problem, instead of a full massage. He has a pair of strong hand, if a certain part bothers you just go for John. The special thing I like about him is that he understands body internal construction, he always looks for the source of the pain instead of rubbing wherever it hurts you.
