The servers to great care in helping to figure out a meal for us with selections from their in-house fish market. We all toured the market to see what fresh items they had and then the chef prepared everything with simple perfection. We had shrimp risotto, John Dory fish prepared island style with simple potatoes and tomatoes. And the grilled scampi were simple and flavorful. We also tried the monk fish which was Asian inspired. The table presentation was beautiful in a simple modern way. The wines perfectly paired with all of our fish courses. Dessert was a whole new level. You must get the table side sorbet preparation. Yes table side!!! They made a sorbet from celery juice and tequila using liquid nitrogen and then added egg white meringues and gelatins to accompany it. Truly and amazing and unforgettable dinner. Thank you all!!!

I went here for the first time about a month ago…read more LOCATION: It's located across the Arno, away from the busier areas of the city, but still not too far of a walk from it all either. 3/5 ATMOSPHERE: It's not too big inside, but it's not super small either. The decor is pretty simple, but not too boring. I mean, it's not amazing, but it has sort of a chill vibe, with white brick walls, dim lighting, and wine bottle-lined shelves on some of the walls. 3/5 SELECTION: On their website, their menu is described with, "Our menu is characterized by using genuine raw materials, preferably organic and seasonal products, it changes every month. You can taste both traditional Tuscan dishes that our personal reinterpretations." What I like most about their menu is that they use organic and seasonal products, and they have a good handful of clearly-labeled vegan options, but I will say that I wish there was a bit more variety in the vegan options, as most of them are soups and vegetables. 3/5 WHAT I GOT: I got the "Cous Cous o Riso al naturale con verdure a scelta dalla vetrina," which basically translates to "cous cous or rice with seasonal vegetables." I got it with rice. It was pretty good overall, and the one negative I have is that it was too oily -- like you can tell from my picture. But other than that, the actually quality of it all was good, and all the different vegetables tasted fresh, and they were thoroughly cooked. The rice wasn't under or overcooked either. Plus, it was a pretty good price (€8), as was most of the rest of the menu (reasonably-priced), especially for a restaurant that looks nicer than what you typically come across there, and that has higher standards (organic produce, etc.). 3/5 SERVICE: The service was pretty good. Our waitress seemed nice and friendly, and our food didn't take too long or anything to come out. The only complaint I have is that their website says they open for dinner at 6pm, but we went there at 6pm, and they said they start serving dinner at 7pm, which was annoying. But, we somehow managed to find some places nearby to look around at and whatnot while waiting. 3/5

The pasta is home made and delicious; the crudo's of fresh sashimi are delicious and the whole fish also does not disappoint. The only complaint we have is the lack of a basic dress code. This is an elegant fine dining restaurant and a proper long sleeve dress shirt and pants should be mandatory for men. We had the misfortune of having three diners covered in body art and tattoos wearing short sleeves and shorts with numerous body piercings seated next to us. It was extremely unpleasant to look at these individuals who did not have the common courtesy to dress appropriately for the venue. There are some occasions when a nose ring should be removed and proper clothing worn and this was one of them. They should have been denied entry based on the clothing they wore.

We didn't know what to expect except that Lungarno serves steak, but we just went with it. And so glad we did. The dining was upscale but didn't have any of the stuffiness one would expect from fine dining. We decided to try the seafood tasting menu which included 2 appetizers, 2 pastas, 1 main course, 1 dessert of your choice, and coffee and water. Price was set at 70 euros/person (minimum of 2 orders). They also had a non-seafood option for 60 euros (I think), but we weren't as interested in that tasting menu since it included duck, liver, and veal. Out of our seafood tasting menu, our favorites were the shrimp and white bean appetizer, the seafood risotto (so good!), and the sea bass with grilled vegetables. Desserts were also decadent and beautifully presented, paired perfectly with our cappuccinos. The staff also made a spaghetti with bolognese for our kids since that's all the wanted to eat in Italy. (Sigh.) One thing we did notice was that they mistakenly added separate dessert charges on our final bill although those were included in our tasting menu. They apologized immediately and took it off saying it was an oversight because they were pretty busy at that point in the evening. Glad we checked (as one should.) Our bill was hefty, but we felt like splurging and were glad we did!

The plates here were all beautifully crafted, the atmosphere was so lively, and the service was extremely hospitable. As we waited for our table to be seated for dinner, the hostess brought us two free glasses of sparkling wine to enjoy! From the menu, we started with the black tagliolini pasta (made with cuttlefish ink) in a clam and zucchini cream sauce and topped with shaved bonito (smoked tuna). The tagliolini noodles weren't as al dente as I would've liked, but the light clam sauce and the bonito flakes made this a tasty dish. The piatto del giorno (dish of the day) was the one worth coming for--it came with four pieces of tender, meaty grilled octopus tentacles, along with a dark, umami oyster sauce and an airy, creamy parsnip foam, which added a nice acidity to the dish. The sauces and the foam were perfect for mopping up with the bread that came to the table, and this made for a really creative dish overall!
