First and freshest meal we had in Bergen! What a beautiful spot.. touristy yes but great place for a meal. Service was quick and they had some great entree options. I got the fish of the day and my husband got the salmon - both excellent!!! Loved every bite here. All meals in Norway are pricey but this meal is going to be worth it! Especially with the amazing view. Highly recommend

Had delish seafood here. All staff were very attentive in helping with a reservation to seating and service. Ambiance was right on the water, nice view!! The seafood boil had all kinds of seafood done to perfection in a slightly spicy and yummy tomato broth. We were sad we couldn't finish all the dish. A bit pricey but worth it!!

A tourist advised us that the food here was incredible so we checked it out for lunch. The price was $$$. We were seated outdoors, in a sunroom, which for us, was a bit challenging because it was a hot sunny day. We had the fish and chips, and I had the mussels. Mussels were good, but the sauce was quite creamy. Kids menu only item is the fish and chips, but you have to specify that in advance otherwise they give you the regular fish and chips and its related cost.

Really good food. Highly recommend the seafood salad that had a mix of shrimp, crawfish, roe, and salad. It was soooo good I ate it again 2 days later. Service was spot on. Recommend getting a reservation. They squeezed us in the first night. The location is on the harbor with good view even in the rain. Eat here. It's great.

Very good! A lot of collection and the waiter boy is really handsome, from French. Menu with pics

The absolute freshest sushi we have ever had!!! We stopped by early in the day and asked if we could make a reservation for dinner. They gladly fit us in and even showed us the table we'd be sitting at that evening. It's covered outdoor seating so you don't need to worry about the birds and it was so nice to have a wonderful seafood dinner with a direct view of the water. The drinks were great too! The only place to go to the bathroom there is the tourist info center which is closed at night, so just be prepared to not use the bathroom if you go there to dine or drink at night!

Enjoyed the fresh halibut, white wine and the outstanding views of the Bergen harbor from inside the dining room with glass walls and a glass ceiling!

Food was fantastic. Service was slow. Dessert of Crème brûlée was heavenly. A fine dining experience with delightful ambiance.

I ate here twice, the concierge/front desk at my hotel nearby recommended it. I had mixed experiences but the food was always delicious! Dinner 1: Appetizer -oysters, French and local. Main -I had the monk fish in a garlic butter oil with roasted vegetables. The oysters were fresh and briny, served with only lemon wedges. I preferred the ones from France, they had a little more flavor. My entree was so delicious, it was steamed perfectly and tasted just like Maine Lobster, yum! I have a newfound love for turnips, also cooked amazingly. The bill came to about $100 US. Dinner 2: Mixed greens salad and an entree of Wolf Fish, which I had never seen, heard of or had. But it looked interesting at their market. The salad was good, but mine are better. The main dish was fresh, juicy, very tasty! I don't know if I loved the Monk Fish or Wolf Fish better? This time I didn't order an appetizer, and no drinks. The bill was about $78 U.S. with tip. Wonderful views, great weather (unusually sunny and dry, went in May).

7/4/2024 - we ate here twice today. Ate the fish n chips and fish pasta. Also, grabbed 2 crab meats to go. Nice people. Biggest crabs I've ever seen. See photos. They have an enclosed seating area which will keep you dry if it is raining. Also, you can grab a chair and table inside if they are open. Worst case take the food to go and bring to your hotel room and eat in the lobby.

Service and the ambience are lovely here. Try reserving a table by the water in advance if you do go. It was expensive, as you'd expect in a center of a tourist area, but place had decent portion sizes. I was excited about trying some fish here but the monkfish we ordered was tough and uninteresting. The shrimp pasta was excellent as was the chocolate fondant. Nice place to eat, nothing particularly unique if you're a seafood lover.

Located at the center of the city, right next to the fish market. The seafood is so fresh here, I mean how can it not be, is right by the water. We have a reservation and we're seated promptly, the service came right a way and took our drinks and returned with them in 3 mins. To me that is very fast already. They also recommend some seafood to our party. The portions is enough for one people. They have an open seafood display inside the market. The dining room is full glass open area, you have the full view of the harbor, including the viewing of the famous rainbow color house across from the restaurant.

Fresh seafood from the market. Was an easy stop after a long day at the fjords. Tour van drops off right by the fish market so was easy in. Great service, very friendly and helpful. read more
We had dinner here on a cold & rainy Norwegian evening. Since it was across our hotel, we opted to eat here inside Mathallen (Bergen's indoor fish market). The two servers waiting for the diners inside the vinyl-covered sunroom of Fish Me were on top of their game. Obliging our requests for photos and even allowing us to move tables, when we saw the harbour view seats were available. Smiles and yeses, came out of their mouths, which was surprisingly uncommon in Europe. For the food, though this was inside was a fish market and them aptly named Fish Me, we didn't order fish. We opted for the only two items in the "Meat Dishes" section of the menu. I had the Whale Steak (minke) which is technically a mammal, while my wife got Reindeer Entrecôte. We paired this with a Pinot Noir and Spicy Hot Chocolate. Both tasted like beef with the gamey flavor offsetted by the red wine sauce and the caramelized green beans. My presumption proven wrong, we left satiated and considered this a winning choice. read more
We were looking for a mixture of reindeer and seafood so ended up in this fish market just behind our hotel by the wharf with a beautiful view and service. We got seated right away and they didn't mind that we had to switch tables to get a better view of the wharf. We ordered the following: * I had the whale steak served with mashed potatoes, caramelized green beans with toasted sunflower seeds, marinated and grilled pear, and a flavorful red wine sauce with a hint of wild berries. * spiced hot chocolate for my drinks * hubby got the Reindeer Entrecôte Served with oven-baked potatoes, caramelized green beans with toasted sunflower seeds, marinated chanterelles, and a flavorful red wine sauce with a hint of wild berries. * a glass of pinot noir. Definitely a place to go to when in Bergen. read more

Had the Hot Futo Salmon Roll and Futo Special Roll on July 23 at 6pm. Became violently ill after and had the worst night from food posioning. Don't risk it with the sushi here. read more

The sushi was good for take away, but we were disappointed in the restaurant. The servers did not seem to be very attentive and were arguing with each other. We also ordered the scallops, and it was over 20 dollars, which would not be an issue had there been more food. The plate only came with two tiny scallops on it. We also had to wait after and go ask for our bill since no one came back. The fish was good, but we were saddened by the dining experience. read more

Good food. Fair prices for high priced Bergen. Good service. Nice view. In a neat fish market.

The location is excellent as it is just right around the harbor and it allows inside seating in the chilly July. We ordered a so-called Viking plate as shown in the picture. The seafood is fresh and good. The 3 star comes from the price and amount. It cost about $200 for such small sized plate, which consists of a half lobster, a few crab legs and three oysters. The plate is intended for two people. But the amount is a bit short for two adult people unless you eat many breads. read more

We found Fish Me by the local fish market so it is a little touristy. We ordered the smoked fish platter l, three French oysters and two Chablis. It was an unusually sunny and warm day in Bergen, so sitting outside was very hot at lunchtime, but this was not the reason for 3 stars. The smoked fish platter comprised dried mackerel, whale, and salmon served with a very good tartar sauce. The fish was all pretty good, however the entire experience was very confusing. A tip to visitors, look for a sign by the outdoor seating (or line of people) to get a seat, otherwise you will walk around forever looking for a hostess. read more

I came here a couple of times since it was near my hotel, but never ordered anything with fish (was doing coffee/pastries both times). When I was here, it was a order at the counter situation and then you could be seated at one of their tables. Service was fine; not outwardly friendly by any means, but not rude either. A good option for a quick bite if on the harbor. read more

My husband and I had heard rave reviews about this place so we had to go. We didn't mind waiting because we thought that meant it was good. We finally got seated at an enclosed terrace table. My husband ordered the halibut and I ordered the monkfish. Service was extremely slow. Yes, it was a busy night. But two other tables were seated, served and left before we even got our food! When we finally got our food it was stone cold. We were so hungry by then we ate it but we didn't enjoy it. My monkfish was very chewy. I'm guessing it was sitting out for quite some time. We tried twice to get the waiter's attention so we could get our bill paid and leave. But he was too busy talking to the couple at the table next to us. We finally asked another waitress to bring us our bill. She went to our waiter to tell him we wanted our bill. I know this because I saw her point at us. Still he continued to chat with the couple. He never even checked on us to see if the meal was ok. He only asked us when he brought us the bill. Needless to say, we did not leave a tip. €100 down the drain for a meal we didn't enjoy at all. read more

There was room for improvement in their service, although the location was great; it is close to the tourist information center. I have to admit that the quality of the seafood was excellent. read more
The freshest seafood I've ever eaten! I got the salmon and it was absolutely heavenly. We also got the fish soup and it was so much better than expected - actually it was amazing! Good service and good prices for really fresh fish. Highly suggest! read more
This was a great find in the harbor area. Like many places, there are different prices for eating at a table versus take-out. We liked it so much that we came back for dinner after having had lunch earlier in the day. For lunch, we split the smoked fish platter and ate along the water. We got to choose six different types of smoked fish and the meal included bread and salad as well. There was plenty of food for the two of us. For dinner, we sat at an outdoor table, which was in an enclosed and heated tent. My wife had the fish skewers, which consisted of two skewers with three large chunks of fish each, along with grilled vegetables. There was also a salad and a choice of potato or rice. It was more than she could finish. I had the seafood salad, which consisted of small shrimp along with an assortment of smoked fishes on a bed of greens. The whole thing was contained within a bowl of fried lefse, which made me think of the Norwegian version of a taco salad. Very tasty. Both of these dishes were 180 Kr, among the cheapest items on the menu and both very worthwhile. read more

The Sushi here was amazing! It was the best sushi I've ever had. The fish was very fresh and the ingredients worked really well together. We got the Hot Maguro Roll, Exotic Roll, and Norwegian Tempura Roll. The Hot Maguro Roll was probably our favorite, but they were all very good. We sat outside in the heated tent and there were great views of the harbor. This is very good seafood spot to try in Bergen read more
I love this place. Yes, it is expensive; yes, it is touristy; yes, you potentially could get a better deal somewhere else. However, I am someone who likes to talk to the fishmongers, ask a ton of questions, try samples, learn about the seafood that they have. I walked around the fish market inside the tourist building twice, surveying all of the fish offerings and looking at the different menus. I stopped at this one because they had 5+ types of smoked salmon (both hot and cold) as well as other kinds of smoked fish. After talking to the staff and asking lots of questions about buying only a small portion vs. what is in the smoked fish platter, we settled on eating here. The staff was able to include the smoked fish that I wanted in the platter, and that was perfect because I knew exactly what I was getting (plus other surprises). Seafood is not cheap, and that much fresh seafood even in the US would cost as much as this. I was very happy with my dish and the experience (the only complaint is that the bread for the caviar appetizer could have used some time in the oven to crisp and bake it up) and will recommend this highly to others...as long as they take their time and do their research! read more

The fish was suuuuper fresh! I have had fish by the sea before but this place adds a twist I haven't seen before. They combined a seafood restaurant with a sushi restaurant and it's all fish that is as fresh as the sea can make it. Amazing menu as well, it took me about 30 minutes to choose and I normally know almost within a few minutes! Over all this place is an easy 5/5 for seafood lovers and conesours alike. read more
Located a mere 50 feet from the edge of the Bergen harbor, this restaurant cum fishmonger is a great place to select from a wide variety of FRESH seafood that is then prepared right there and then. In addition to the usual seafood that one finds in most seafood restaurants/shops, there are many species that are native to Norway. I ordered a platter of smoked fish and it included three varieties of salmon, mackerel, prawns and other fish. These were smoked in the traditional Nordic fashion and were very appetizing. My traveling companion ordered the king crab and could not stop raving about the freshness and taste. After finishing your meal one has the opportunity to browse and buy packaged Nordic specialties such as salmon roe in paste form in a tube, brown cheese, reindeer and moose meat and other delicacies. read more
Stopped into this little indoor market which is right next to all the other outdoor fish market vendors. Place has a classier vibe. Staff: Super friendly and were giving out many cheese/sausage samples. I only had about 10 samples, but the lady next to me ate 2 of everything. Food: Just had to order the fresh salmon sashimi. Im a sucker for sashimi and salmon in general. Was a treat watching the guy actually slice up the fish in front of me. Even got a video of if. Value: Price was great (79 NOK or $10 for 6 pieces) and fish was awesome quality. Reminiscent of Tsukiji in Japan. Also serves sandwiches and other entrees, but didn't try them. Bottom Line: Eat your fresh fish meal here! They accept credit card. read more

The food was great! Appetizers are a little pricey considering portions but they were delicious and worth it none the less. We were a little disappointed upon arriving, we had previously asked if they were handicap accessible and made a reservation noting we needed accessibility. We were then asked to sit in the back of the dining room- which the electric chair couldn't pass through to reach. The ramp also has a lip and then a tight corner to turn. All in all they made changes to where we were seated and they were very nice and accommodating. read more

When me and my friend arrived at the restaurant, one of the terrace was full, so we were told to move to the other one. However, one of the waiters there told us that it was booked for a group. So then we were told to move to the booth area, and it was fine but when we finished eating we realized that nobody was in that terrace. The service here is also bad, and the food is overpriced. When you order the pasta, it is around 220 NOK and you will only get a small plate of the pasta. If you go to any near by restaurants, the portion of the dishes will be much bigger and the prices of the food would be worth it, and the service is much better too. I won't recommend this restaurant. read more
