Man, I wish I'd eaten here earlier in my trip! This menu includes Asian choices, sushi, steaks and burgers and unbelievably delicious soups that more than make a dinner. This was the most reasonably priced dinner we had in Bergen and the tastiest! We started with a Crispy Roll (fried wonton) as an appetizer. We followed with soup. The entree sized bowls are huge... easy to share. My hubby had the Thai seafood soup, Exotisk Drøm. I had Tom Ka Gai, a chicken in creamy soup with noodles and flavored with lemon grass and coconut milk. It made a huge dinner, since there was a lot of chicken in the dish. We highly recommend Zupperia!

I have visit this restaurant pretty frecuently during my Bergen trip, so I have been to most of the restaurat in the city! But this one is by far the cosiest! The meny stays the same through out the chain except for a few dishes! The service is okey, don't expect something special. The meals are really good, they even sell beer and wine! The meny has a large variety of food, relatively cheap for Bergen, you will definitely be satisfied! This have been my go to-place when I want a good food and it's a great place to grab a lunch or start the night out at, if you want to save some money!

The so called clam chowder

Just writing this review makes my mouth water. I had the chef fish special, the Breiflabb or Monkfish. I went to the aquarium the next day, and I did not like what I saw. Wow it's a really ugly fish. But anyways, it was delicious, and yes I would have it again. My husband had a beefy dish which he liked a lot. We did go back again because we know for sure we will have good food, and this time we figured we should had soup. My husband had the RudolfSuppe (yes, reindeer), and yes he really loved it. I should have something more local, but I decided to have the Clam Chowder, which it did not taste anything like a clam chowder, but it was delicious. The restaurant should just call it something else because one expects the taste a clam chowder.

Reindeer soup with a side of pate

This place was recommended by my hostel. She said the reindeer soup was very good. Since reindeer was on my list of foods I had to try in Norway, I had to pay this place a visit. ****SERVICE**** The service here is good like everywhere else in Norway. Maybe I'm just used to bad service here in the US.... They were efficient and helpful with the menu. ****FOOD**** Reindeer soup(Rudolfsuppe)(98 NOK) I actually really enjoyed this soup. It had quite a few chunks of meat inside as well. I made sure to clean this bowl clean :) Monkfish(Urtebakt Briefflab)(245 NOK) I don't ever recall having monkfish before. The best way to describe it is a LOBSTER FISH. It tastes like fish but has the texture of lobster. The food was cooked perfectly but I would guess there are better things on the menu. I also didn't see anyone else order this dish. ****CONCLUSION**** I'm glad I came here to have dinner one night. The wait staff was pretty good despite being very busy. The food wasn't bad. The reindeer soup was pretty yummy and it filled all my pig like needs. What are you waiting for? Go now!

Wonderful dinner! My wife gives the Hungarian Goulash (thick hearty soup) 5 stars. I had the Monk Fish as a change of pace from local Salmon. It was very good! It came with mussels and vegetables - very close to 5 stars. Enjoy this place on the waterfront - comfy and friendly.

The place is just okay. The drinks very tasty. We ordered nachos and a chicken wrap. Served hot and good flavor. The chips were straight from a bag though

Much like the other reviews, service was just ok. There were only a few waitresses, not a huge issue. First meal I had when I arrived to bergen around 9pm. Cold and rainy, warm, hearty soup was just the trick! I had the Rudolfsoup... Strange to think i was about to eat a iconic Christmas character, but it was so good this mattered no more! Delicious, soft bread for proper dunking! Came with a side of pate, not for me, but I have it a try. My girlfriend ordered the goulash and the beef was tender, broth was thick and flavorful. A must try if in bergen! Would go back again if I didn't enjoy trying new places so much!

Warm apple cake with vanilla ice cream.

Very good food at nice prices (for Bergen). You can get a great meal for moderate cost and the food is varied more than many establishments in the harbor area of Bergen. That being said, traditional items like my wife's Salmon in Sour Cream are great. I felt like having some goulash and it was hearty and well-prepared. Our dessert of warm apple cake with vanilla ice cream was excellent!

This small upscale midrange Norwegian chain does a nice job in creating a fancy ambiance with…read morereasonable prices. I imagine this would be a good place for a first date...show her you care, but don't lose too much $$$$$ in case the date goes bad. (Who doesn't like dogs? Dump her!) Staff was polite, but seemed exhausted from a working a busy day during Constitution Day(their 4th of July). I think it was two 6 ounce fillets. 210kr/$28 Salmon plate...hard to tell in my photo, but salmon portion is about 2 times what you would get in America. Delicious! 159kr/$21.20 seafood salad...see photo. Norwegians have a different interpretation of "Seafood Salad" than in America...just look at the vast amount of seafood on that "salad". The ratio is awesome! America can learn a lot from Norway! Prices might seem high by American standards, but in Norway tax and tip are already included in restaurant prices, so its really the same as America. But drink prices were quite high, so we just drank water. I've read that Norwegian restaurants are used to this..I think... (Note: At time of this review, the US dollar was up 50% against the Norway kroner...$1 = 7.5kr vs $1 = 5kr just a couple years ago)

Zupperia is a plain ordinary run-of-the-mill European cafe…read more Which means it's wonderful. * * * A word here on European cafes. Knock the stereotype out of your mind that a European cafe is an exotic cosmopolitan place. Cafes do not look like the ancien Europe of the 1890's or 1920's or 1940's with Ernest Hemingway at one table, Jean Paul Sartre at a different table and Toulouse Lautrec painting people's pictures in a corner. People looking for the cliched European cafes of American's postcard imaginations are sitting ducks for the tourist trap operators. The swindlers buy some downtown real estate, decorate it in centuries old style, and charge you triple the going rate for mediocre food so you can have "the authentic European experience." A European cafe is simply a plain old everyday restaurant with a full bar. Take out the liquor and it is another version of a diner on New Jersey's Route 17 or a coffee shop on the Upper East Side. Jersey diners and Manhattan coffee shops are great places. Whether we are talking diner or coffee shop or Euro cafe, The best places have a substantial menu. There is some local food with regional dishes. There is a lot of globalized international food. It is all everyday stuff. The kitchen is good. What you are going to get is going to be comforting and tasty. It doesn't matter if the decor is 1920's or mid-century functional or 2010's normal. What matters is you are going to get a decently priced plate of normal food that will taste good and keep body and soul together for the next couple of hours. * * * Zupperia does just fine as a Euro cafe. They have fish soup or reindeer or raspeballer if you want to go Nordic. They have tortilla wraps or Thai curry if you want to go exotic. You want burgers or lasagna? They got that too. The wife and I went with tofu and vegetables in teriyaki sauce. There was a lot of it. The teriyaki sauce was homemade and seductive. The vegetables were first rate. (They had a lot of fine sweet red pepper from Holland. Dutch red peppers make everything good.) After all the crazy eat-everything-Nordic-you-can-get-your-hands-on That we had engaged in in the previous days, Having some basic tofu and vegetables restored bodily health and mental sanity. And that is exactly what is supposed to happen at a Euro cafe - Even if it is a steak frite or a strogonoff sitting on your plate.
