The food was amazing. It had a great taste. I love getting the fish sandwich but I also like getting the fish filet plate too. I have been to this place several times. The waitresses are always so nice and helpful. They always come to your table with a smile. I have been there with a large group and with just my family. They can accommodate you. We decided to check out Fish Creel in Anderson, AL. It was a scenic drive thru Limestone County into Lauderdale County. There was little traffic just before lunchtime which afforded us an opportunity to look at the scenery. Fish Creel is located just inside Lauderdale County out in the middle of nowhere. There is an ATM by the entrance as the restaurant only takes cash or check. We walked in and were greeted by a few ladies at the front counter. There is a sign to take a seat and if the party is larger than 6, please wait for assistance. As soon as we sat down, our waitress came by to give us menus, flatware and to take our drink orders. Hubs ordered the large catfish filet platter, baked potato, and slaw. I opted for the Friday lunch special chicken and dumplings with green beans, macaroni and cheese and tomatoes, cucumbers and onions in dressing. The lunch special is 1 meat, 2 sides, a drink, and dessert for $9. I was given the option of swapping cake for a side so I took it. Hubs catfish was phenomenal. The best catfish ever!!! My chicken and dressing was ok. I am not a catfish eater and that's why I ordered the lunch special. There were about 14 others out of 20 that ordered the chicken and dressing. My taster might be off. All in all it was good food and we will be back. If you enjoy countryside scenery and awesome catfish, get in the car and drive to Anderson to try out Fish Creel. They have great food always, great waitresses, and good sweet tea. Their food is awesome and have a delicious salad bar. The people that eat there are mostly all locals from less than a hundred miles away and everyone is so nice and polite. Great place to eat! read more

My husband and I ate at the Fish Creel for YEARS back in the early 2000s all the way up to about 2014-15. We always went for their awesome (and super affordable) all you can eat seafood buffet. We ate this seafood buffet at least 3 to 4 times a year. The last time we walked into the Fish Creel around 2014-15 it was like a Twilight Zone experience. The entire atmosphere was different and it was just a "diner" type restaurant with a small salad bar Suddenly there was no seafood buffet set up at all....?? We walked in, looked around for the seafood buffet and not seeing it anywhere while standing their befuzzled an elderly waitress wearing glasses walked by and we asked her where the seafood buffet was..... she paused a second and said adamantly, we've NEVER had a seafood buffet here.....We left and never returned to that place. I still scratch my head over that one. I KNOW FISH CREEL HAD AN ALL YOU CAN EAT SEAFOOD BUFFET !!! read more

Wonderful service with great tasting food...usually drive 5 hrs to go to our favorite catfish cabin in Mississippi...now only have to drive 40 miles from Huntsville. The catfish was lightly breaded and fried crispy without being greasy. The hush puppies were the size of golf balls and served hot while waiting for your dinner to be served by attentive waitress. We arrived Wednesday night an hour prior to closing - even at this hour after a busy day the floors were clean, staff was quietly cleaning tables and setting up tables for next day without disturbing our dinner. FIRST - The restaurant has limited payment methods so if you are going here then bring Cash or your Check Book as they do not accept or take debit or credit cards. On the positive side they do serve FRESH shrimp and Fresh Catfish but while it's fresh I have to say I'm no fan of their breading and the overall quality/taste was just okay. The serving size you get is very good and it comes out hot from the kitchen as if it was just out of the grease. Another positive is that the Shrimp plate comes with the salad bar which is also well stocked but I am no fan of their dressings as they seemed more to have a watered down taste and not that good. Highly negative was the number of flies that were taking over the restaurant on the day I dined there. It was actually worse than eating outside and somehow they need to find a way to rid themselves of this menace. Fish Creel seems to be a good restaurant but they badly need to control the flies as they were all over the restaurant and several were buzzing around and in the salad bar area. The taste, at least to me, was not worth going out of the way for and this restaurant is plenty out of the way and off the beaten path. Kudos for serving fresh seafood/catfish but I have to say that I've had better tasting shrimp that has come from fried. For me it's not worth going out of your way for. read more

I've been eating at Fish Creel basically my whole life. The fried catfish is the best in North Alabama. I always get New Orleans style fried shrimp with hush puppies, fries, and the salad bar. The salad bar alone is worth my trip across Limestone County to get to Fish Creel. The staff is kind, and the new owners are doing a great job to keep everything in tip top shape. Don't miss the pickled green tomatoes on the salad bar. Yum! If you aren't a fan of seafood, take a look at the fried steak fingers. There's not much to be said about the ambiance with old paneling, plastic chairs, and vinyl tablecloths, but the place is always clean and everybody is glad to have you there when you walk in! read more

We were in the area visiting Joe Wheeler State Park and stopped in for dinner. Wow, the food and service were top of the line. My wife and I split the seafood platter with jumbo fried shrimp, delicious oysters, fried catfish, and the best hush puppies I have ever eaten!! We were both absolutely stuffed! This is definitely a place we will revisit when we come back to the park!!! Best part is when we received our check! All of this with drink and salad only $28. read more

I have been eating at this restaurant for more than 45 years however, I do not live as close as I used to, so to say that it is a treat to get to go is an understatement. It tasted as good to me after 45+ years as it did the first time ever ate there. I had the fried shrimp and my husband had the country fried steak. He said that was the best meal he had ever had. in all of 45 years I have never eaten better hush puppies they are one of my favorite things that is served here. so if you ever find yourself in Little, oh Anderson, Alabama, do yourself a favor and stop in for a meal. I was there two weeks ago today (first time after Covid) and it was awesome as usual. I had two catfish filets and 6 oysters and man....it was off the chart. When you pull up there on a Thursday at 5pm and it's hard to find a parking place....you know they have something great going on. Also would like to mention the salad bar. It is not huge but of plenty good size and everything is very very fresh and very very cold. The coldness of the salad and the salad fixings are something that make it special to me. The place is always super clean and great service. Much much better than any of their competition in 100 mile radius. And you get plenty of food. No one will leave hungry! I came for the carfish and was not disappointed. Came with a party of 17 and despite the big group the food came out pretty quick. I had the two whole catfish which cost around $11.50. Which is not bad considering it includes a nice salad bar. My only complaint was the mayo based cole slaw was a little too sweet and the honey mustard was a little sour tasting and could have used more honey. The menu has a lot more that fish items. My daughter, the chicken finger expert, had those and was very satisfied. Overall the decor was clean and the bathroom were also in good shape. Great southern folks. They extremely welcoming and nice. Wonderful food and an awesome salad bar. There's not many places to even enjoy a salad bar anymore much less a good one. Unfortunately they're not open on Monday or Tuesday cause that's usually when I'm craving good comfort food close by but nonetheless when they are open the rest of the week you can guarantee to have a good dinner. The only real downside to this restaurant is parking. I am in a where and there's only 2 handicap spots and if not fortunate enough to grab one of the few spots in front of the building you'll have to either park in the gravel lot or possibly now the side of the road. read more

We were on our way from Lewisburg, Tn to Rogersville Ala. We decided to stop in for lunch. Covid-19 precautions are in place. The food was very good and alot of it. The problem came at checkout. THEY DON'T TAKE DEBIT CARDS. CASH ONLY. This restaurant is in the middle of nowhere. My husband had to go to a dollar general to get cash.
