We'd heard about FISH (formerly The Lighthouse), had eaten at Chef Lucas' previous and current restaurants (and loved the food), so admittedly, we were excited to have dinner here, especially since we could look up and see it from our hotel (Vina del Mar). The entrance and the road going UP may be a little intimidating, so go slow (we drive a sedan) on the fairly well maintained, unpaved road at about two mph (put your vehicle in 1st gear), and you're there in about two minutes. Same method going down. The entrance is a little tricky (if you'd never been to The Lighthouse or El Capitan), off behind a liquor store to the left if you're headed to the Malecon, on the right, if you're leaving same. The interior is modern elegant and air conditioned, and the large, long, outside balcony is awesome for viewing the incredible view of the city (close-up), the sunset and of course, the ocean. The prices seemed mostly reasonable for what we hoped would be incredible food, but our selections were either great, or barely or less than average. The service was less special (considering the pricing) than we hoped for, but then, we had the beautiful sunset view. We had a glass of the Casillera del Diablo Cabernet (priced much more reasonably than other restaurants, $31 v. $40/bottle), iced tea, Saffron Clams, Shrimp Bisque, Salmon Wellington, Flounder Genovese, and Potato Gratin. The tab was $60. An decent value, we thought. The not so good: the Potato Gratin is skippable for the lack of flavor and cheese. The Shrimp Bisque was more broth than bisque and needed something (we added salt and pepper), and had lots more croutons than shrimp (4 to 1?). Bread does not come automatically with the meal and is on the menu a la carte. The great: Salmon Wellington was (I don't like using this word) DIVINE. Wow! The phyllo was perfect and the salmon and cheese filling were incredible. The Flounder Genovese was thick with a citrus essence sauce and perfectly prepared. The Saffron Clams were fresh, almost swimming in a delicious, salty, garlic, saffron and butter sauce. Our server was adequate, but he seemed a little out of his element, rapport-wise, at FISH. A little jaded, not really accustomed to fine dining service, but adequate, nonetheless. In our case, the main entrees and the views were the stars for this visit. We're not sure if and when we'll be back, but the Salmon will stay in MY head.

Awesome experience last night with terrific waiter: Omar. We had octopus appetizer, flounder Genovese, and shrimp with tequila. Finished meal with flan. All were great, but flounder was the best. Sat on the deck above the town...perfect setting and views. We will be back!

By far the very best dining experience in Puerto Penasco. Our dining experience began with a table that had an amazing view. We started our dinner with two appetizers, crab cakes and saffron steamed clams. The saffron steamed clams were perhaps the best clams we have ever had the pleasure of tasting. I then had the bouillabaisse, which had a delectable broth and nothing but the freshest seafood. My friend enjoyed the flounder with fresh vegetables. The focaccia was the best I have ever had. Even the ice cream and berries for dessert was amazing. Our waiter, Eduardo was well versed and a true gentleman. Dine early to get the beast seats.

Just got back from Mexico. So disappointed Fish is no longer there. It's been replaced by a pizza place.

Excellent clams in saffron sauce. Beautiful views. The seafood platter is big enough for 4 people to share!

The food is great and it might be the best bread I have ever had, but I did walk out hungry.

We were the only ones in the restaurant when we went. The young girl who took care of us was great! She was friendly & super sweet. Hubby got a Michelada & added a shot of Tito's since there was no alcohol in the tomato juice part of the drink. He said it was really good. My sangria was good. It's made with pineapple juice. We ordered the chips & salsa. We also ordered the guacamole. The chips & salsa were good. I was happy there was no heat in the salsa since I am a huge whimp when it comes to spicy food. The guacamole was really good after we added some salt & lime juice. I normally don't eat guacamole, but I liked it too. We went "out of our box" & tried the whole fried fish. We split it. We asked her to add rice & beans if it didn't come with it. It was huge. The fish was fried perfectly! Hubby loved it. I liked it too. It was moist. The rice was good. The refried beans were excellent! I don't know what they do, but the texture & flavor was the best we have ever had. I loved them. We will definitely make this place are go to when we come down again. Please note tips are cash only in case you don't carry cash!

I have Carlos V shrimp, something new for me. Such generous portions, you'll leave her 10lbs heavier. Allegedly they have dessert but too full to try. This place is really small, so if there's a big party you're SOL. We never leave PP without eating here, we love it so much

The restaurant was very clean and updated. The staff were very attentive and friendly. It wasn't crowded when we got there but quickly filled up, so get there a little earlier than dinner time. Now to the food, I had the Diablo shrimp and was so, so good! If you like spicy this is definitely spicy so be ready for it, the waiter warned me haha- but I will definitely get it again. It also comes with rice and a small salad. Mom had the whole fried fish and it came with French fries and coleslaw. She loved the fish ( I did try it and would get it again). Lastly, my sister got the grouper seasoned in a brown butter sauce ( I can't remember the name of the sauce just know brown butter). It was just okay. She said she'd try it another way but not with that particular seasoning. We also had fresh margaritas which were very good.

Once the chips and salsa came, I ordered the fish of a platter with a side of salad and fries, the food was good. The homemade salsa was more like watered down ketchup with a hint of chili. It took a good 20 minutes to get the chips and salsa and another 25 minutes for the food to come out. The waiter never came to check on us. Just an older waiter that came to drop off the bill. Ambiance was not good. It felt more like a bar ambiance than a restaurant. The music was blaring. This could appease to someone wanting to go drink more than to go eat a tasty seafood meal.
