Absolutely terrible experience -- DO NOT rent from Sandcastle Realty…read more After years of wonderful vacations in Bethany Beach, our family's trust in this company has been completely shattered. We've rented from Sandcastle for many years, always taking pride in leaving every home spotless and following every checkout instruction. Yet in recent years, we've faced repeated problems getting our security deposits back -- endless delays, vague accusations, and outright lies about the condition of the properties. This past summer was the final straw. After a storm from Hurricane Erin, we reached out several times to have the pool cleaned. We were ignored for most of the week, leaving the pool filthy and unusable for our kids. Still, we cleaned the house thoroughly before leaving -- wiped surfaces, swept floors, scrubbed bathrooms, and made sure everything was in better shape than when we arrived. We even took photos and video as proof. Months later, we were told we wouldn't be getting our security deposit back because the house was supposedly left a "mess." That claim is completely false -- and honestly insulting. Our family includes members with health conditions that made us extra careful about cleanliness. The whole experience has felt dishonest and exploitative. After decades of happy memories in Bethany Beach, it's heartbreaking that Sandcastle Realty has made it stressful to come here. Based on how they've handled our last few rentals, it feels like the owner, Doug, is running a scam -- taking people's deposits under false pretenses and violating Delaware law. To anyone thinking of renting from this company: beware. The home might look lovely online, but the peace of mind and trust that make a vacation special are long gone. What a sad way to end so many years of family tradition.

Despite taking pride in how we leave the properties in accordance with the check-out instructions and leaving it in immaculate condition we have experienced difficulty getting our security deposit back the last few years. Too many delays and lies on why the security deposit was not refunded has resulted in our conclusion that the owner Doug is running a scam operation taking tenants security deposit based on false allegations and in violation of Delaware law. To those reading this review and considering renting a house from this business ... BEWARE! The security deposit you pay is most likely to become a donation to Doug unless you want to retain an attorney and file suit to get it back.

I recently went to sell my condo and I asked for resale docs I was given two different prices. I also have not paid my condo dues in six months and was planning on paying everything at closing, which is three weeks from now but they threaten to put a lien on my condo and wouldn't accept to get paid at closing. The lien would have been filed Aug.1st and closing is Sept.13th. These people are really unreasonable and I would steer clear of using them to manage you home let alone your dog house. Also look at the reviews posted. One is by the owner which you can figure out which one is him and a couple of people they know including a window contractor that probably isn't licensed like the guy they had sent to look at my floors 3 years ago. Steer clear!!! Rude and unreasonable especially with everyone dealing with a pandemic, but when their family member died they needed time to cope and put condo owners on the back burner. What a joke! In my opinion I would never have them manage my trash can in front of my building. My 3 year old would do a better job. See pics attached.

He and Lisa have shown that it doesn't require a huge company to handle things. What it requires is an honest team that cares about their clients. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking to have their property managed on the Eastern Shore. There fees are way more reasonable then other property managers and their polices and procedures are much better. I plan to utilize them as long as I still own my rental.

Being on fire isn't cool (pun intended). Vantage Reality makes a chunk of money by renting vacation properties to people. My family and I rented a condo form them in Ocean City. The condo was just fine - not fancy but not a sink hole - and the price was right, although it was during the dwindling down point of peak season around Labor Day. For starters, don't even think about an early check in; they don't do it. Check out is at 10am, and check in is at 3pm... that's it. You'd think to yourself, "Good. Give the cleaning staff all the time they need", right? The condo was a mess. It looked like the cleaning staff straightened it up a bit, ran a vacuum over the floor and left. We had dust and filth all along the base boards and air vents, an undeterminable sticky mess on the counter tops, something yellow and crusty on the drapes, the carpet had foodstuff imbedded in it, coffee stains on the back patio, cigarette butts on the floor and the dryer vent was so clogged with lint that if someone were to run the dryer while you were on the patio lint would literally rain down on you like it was confetti and your team just won the Super Bowl. Not to mention that we were under the impression all necessary cleaning supplies would be supplied to us for our visit. That wasn't true. We had to go out and buy cleaning solvent and Windex amongst other things. I doubt the condo owners even have any idea that's going on with their place. And although we didn't meet them, they seemed nice (they left us a bunch of board games). We got a kick out of playing Monopoly one night. That crazy Monopoly man and his moustache... he just can't seem to stay out of jail, can he? In close, maybe you don't care about the cleanliness of a condo you rent from this company... I don't know. I'm just letting you know to expect this scenario because I write Yelp reviews for the American working man, because that's what I am and that's who I care about.

It's too bad I am not able to leave a ZERO star review!! NEVER again would I rent from Vantage…read moreResort Realty, nor would I rent the penthouse condo we stayed in at Highpoint South. If a realtor is unaware of the condition of a property they are representing, shame on them. If a realtor is aware of the dirty, rundown condition of the condo they are representing, more's the shame. Either way, this condo is in a state of complete disrepair, and I must call into question the integrity of the management. I am not that picky; I understand that rental units suffer wear and tear with frequent use. Nevertheless, I expect that the unit I rent will actually be fairly represented by the pictures posted by the management. Well, take a look at those pictures, and then forget about them. Those pictures do not show the moldy exhaust fan or the missing towel racks in the bathroom, the crooked bed in the front bedroom, the broken closet door in the bay bedroom, the dirty rugs and furniture, or the cracked, unstable plastic deck furniture. Unfortunately, even pictures cannot document the musty smell that creeps up as you go upstairs, or the damp mustiness of the front bedroom. Unfortunately, it wasn't until after I had already paid for my week's rental that the first negative review had been posted. If only I'd waited... Why did I not call Vantage to complain? Because the amount of work required on this unit would have cleaning crews and repairmen in our unit for the entire week. If they cared so little that they actually rented this unit in the first place, I had no hope that my concerns would be addressed with little more than a band-aid. So, I bought cleaning supplies and cleaned; then I covered the furniture with sheets and kept my shoes on for a whole week. (At least I was able to take them off on the beach). I rented this unit in good faith, and I feel that good faith was not returned. Disappointed? No. I am disgusted. I will be following up with the OC Better Business Bureau, and Chamber of Commerce. My hope is that another family does not have to spend a week of vacation wishing they never left home.

I understand that South Bethany beach is awesome because I've been renting houses here for years…read more The problem is the companies who manage the rental properties. They would make you think that the home owners of the properties they manage are terrible people that have no interest in maintaining their own homes. In just over two weeks of staying in the same house this summer they didn't repair a broken toilet, bring the appropriate light bulbs for the bathroom, offer any compensation for a bedroom that flooded twice during our trip rendering it unusable for days, replace an empty gas tank for the grill, or repair dangerous bunk beds in the unusable swamp room. There maintenance staff is a full blown clown show that doesn't have an effectively communicating manager. How do I know this? I know this because every time some comes to the house they don't know why they have been dispatched to the house. The bottom line is try and find a house rented by the owner directly so if you have a problem you can contact someone who cares, not resort quest who has a ton of properties and don't care if you ever rent from them again.
