CHOCOLATE CHIP PANCAKE BREAKFAST
Delaney S.

This was my first time at this location. There was plenty of parking during breakfast time. This restaurant is much bigger inside than you think it will be. Of course this location keeps up with the cute farmhouse vibe. My mom and I got a table in the back and immediately got coffee poured for us. The service was quick and friendly. The coffee was very good and I appreciate the flavored coffee creamer that are provided in a bowl on the table. I ordered the breakfast that included a pancake which I upgraded to a chocolate chip pancake, sausage, and eggs. Everything was sooooo good. The chocolate chip pancake didn't even need syrup I could eat it on its own. My mom ordered the strawberry cheesecake bites and she really enjoyed them. For the quality of food, price point, and service, you can't beat it.

Plenty of seating. Friendly staff. Reasonable prices. Food was tasty & fresh. The pancake was huge & yummy, really enjoyable. The potatoes were decent & the benedict was pretty good. The bread was better than the average English muffin. Could've had a bit more smoked salmon. I'll return.

Experience: it was a Thursday morning around 10:45. We were in this part of town after an appointment and it wasn't quite lunch time, so we figured we'd look for brunch. Looked on YELP and found this spot. Facility: This is in a strip mall on the end with some outdoor seating when we entered the building. Inside they have booths and traditional tables and chairs. It was pretty crowded as we had to wait about 10 minutes for a table to sit, which wasn't too bad. Service: 4/5 the waitress was nice but new and it showed. But she did her best... just seemed overwhelmed. However, she got our orders correct so she did her job. Food: Their menu is fantastic! Both of us had a tough time decided. I had FOMO every time a plate passed me by. Everything looked delicious. But here's what we ordered: They brought our water in a cute old fashioned milk jug... nice touch. Trifecta - 5/5 we got the waffle, scrabbled eggs and bacon. Waffle was very good. I think they could have had a second egg (maybe they normally do, but with the egg shortage they are only giving 1 egg out now). The SoCal Hash 5/5 - This was so good... it has Mexican spiced chicken, potatoes, beans, cheese with pico, avocado, and an egg on top ... of course I got mine over easy ... yum!! They serve it with 2 tortillas to make some yummy breakfast tacos... I added some chalula on top to perfect it! Overall: we WILL be back because there were too many things left on this menu to try.

We love First Watch for a delicious breakfast. The service and food have been consistently excellent. We appreciate the coffee pot and water bottle on the table.

Overall a good experience. Came in at around 1PM for a casual brunch. Was seated & served relatively quickly, & the host put us in a child friendly location. Food was great, pumpkin spice pancakes were large and fluffy, and everything was overall very filling. Certainly returning.

Food was great but service was terrible. Server walked away without getting all of our drink orders, silverware was dirty and when we asked for more silverware the waitress took a long time to get it to us, also my mom ordered a juice and my mom had to remind the waitress about it and it came out when she was halfway through her meal. Ambiance is ok, definitely overcrowded so try to get there early if you're going on the weekend.

Excellent food, fast & friendly service, and a wonderfully lit and maintained restaurant - the First Watch in the Avenue Viera shopping center became one of our favorite places to eat during our short trip to the area. The fresh pressed juice cocktails were delicious, and a great vitamin-dense starter. The coffee was very rich, and their unsweet iced tea was refreshing. When our meals came out, we wolfed them down because they were just wonderfully delicious. I got their turkey burger, and it ended up being one of my favorite turkey burgers from any location (juicy well-seasoned patty, fresh crisp veggies, and lightly seasoned avocado spread). My wife's breakfast was also prepared perfectly, and I feel like their Million Dollar Potatoes were aptly named - so good! We've since found other First Watch locations that are near where we live, and have enjoyed visiting them. The First Watch in the Avenue Viera center was an excellent representation of the chain, making a great first impression on us, as well as making regular customers out of us.

I'm giving a four star review for our experience at this First Watch franchise. We arrived after 12pm on a Saturday and there was plenty of seating available. As we had our dog, we decided to sit outside. All the tables were taken or dirty so we waited for one to be cleaned. Not all the tables ended up being cleaned at once and so birds came in and ate of the dirty tables. Fortunately they didn't bother our seating area. Our food came out promptly and our server was quick and polite. The bathroom was a good size but was out of paper towels. Overall, we had a good experience as the food was good.

First watch is an upscale brunch spot which does not disappoint. The food is decently priced and yummy as well. I didn't love my dish, but I did like it. I had the Parmesan prosciutto toast, the prosciutto was excellent, it melted in your mouth, but the bread got a little soggy. The arugula on the toast was tasty; adding avocado to the toast would've been a nice touch. I also had the blue power juice, it was yummy, but it would've been nice to have tasted the other fruits inside. The apple was very overpowering. Our server Dijon was very attentive , nice, and helped us with all our needs.

Purple haze drink and green juice ! DELICIOUS!

We got up early on Christmas Eve and opted to find a cool breakfast place. After a few minutes in Yelp, we found Backwater which is nestled in Historic Downtown Melbourne. Parking should not be a problem but if you can't find some on your he street their is a public parking garage not to far away. Upon arrival we were seated pretty quickly and all the staff were very friendly. Our server Amy was awesome and recommended a few breakfast items that were awesome. We opted for the Greek breakfast and the Cuban Benedict which were both fresh and excellent. We also split their seasonal Cinammon pancake as well which was great as well. Pancakes are huge so make sure you leave some room if you plan on having one. All portions were healthy as well, no skimping at Backwater and everyone was in the Christmas spirit as well which was awesome! The atmosphere is friendly, laid back and welcoming which is great if you are from out of Town. So if you are in the area, make sure you check them out for breakfast or lunch. I am sure you will not be disappointed! So in fact he spirit of the holiday I will adjust my customary ending to say Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah and a prosperous and blessed Happy New Year to all of you! **INITIAL REVIEW**…read more Most of my fellow Yelpers know if food were categorized by a genre, breakfast and brunch has a special place in my heart. Ergo, I am on the constant search for more breakfast and brunch places to add to my repertoire. With that in mind, I must stress that Historic Downtown Melbourne a.k.a. Melbourne Main Street has an amazing number of breakfast and brunch places. But the one I admire the most is The Roots Restaurant Tavern, which I will shorthand simply to The Roots for the remainder of this review. Though an address is provided, it must be stressed The Roots is a little "off the mainstreet" of Melbourne Main Street. Just west of the train tracks, the road splits in which the northernly direction is the continuation of New Haven Ave. or the actual Melbourne Main Street. The Roots is on the southern road, right next to The Iron Oak. Take note that The Roots is quite a cozy location. On the outside, The Roots has this look of an old saloon out in the wild west. There are a few tables and chairs for outdoor seating, excellent for people-viewing while eating your meal. Inside, The Roots looks delightfully tacky with all the knick-knacks hanging around and about on the walls. Imagine how Cracker Barrel used to look before the new CEO decided the decor should be more minimalist. But my statement on how The Roots looks small from the outside definitely shows when you are inside, too. The place is small. They definitely utilize the space as best they could, with large party seating being in the back for only one party. Still, take note of this limitation. My waitresses were very kind and attentive when serving me. But I am sure you all want to know about the food. The times I have eaten here, I have had three meals: The Eggs Benny Flight, and Pancake Flight, and Shrimp n' Grits. I will detail each in the pictures of food (if I have them), but I will say that everything here was delicious. My one lone criticism is that some of these flights are best enjoyed with another, not by yourself. On a sidenote, the restroom is clean and stocked, but there is only one and it is unisex. As I said earlier, The Roots is the best breakfast and brunch restaurant, well for me, in Historic Downtown Melbourne. So it is understandable why I am giving them a five-out-of-five stars for their review. Food, service, and ambiance are all excellent and the issues are way too minimal for me to consider them having any major affect. If you are ever going to eat at The Roots only once. My suggestion are the flights. Either eggs bennies, pancakes, or mimosas, you can't go wrong with any of them.

It's a cute place and fun to go to. I got the pancake flight and loved I could pick different…read moreflavors
