An hour later I finally asked how much longer before we get seated, he struggled to find our name, he finally said "oh you are high on the list" I then asked him why people are getting seated who arrived after us and he said "if you check in online, they get bumped upon the list" read more

First time trying First Watch! Will definitely be back. To eat, we had the blueberry cornbread, lemon ricotta pancakes, and the breakfast quesadilla. Everything was great! I appreciate the emphasis on ingredients that was highlighted on the menu. The portions here are large which is great for leftovers or sharing a meal. To drink, I enjoyed the berry tea. I'd definitely get this again. My only complaint about the tea is that it says refills on the menu but when I asked for one the server looked at me like I was crazy and I said "I guess I can do that for you." Such a weird thing to say. The service here was slightly lacking but it seemed as though they might be unstaffed or having an unexpected rush as we came to have brunch on a random Monday. read more

This is the second time I have eaten here and both times, my food did not come out until my other party was half way through their meal, and part of the dish was cold. My husband ordered eggs Benedict, the ham was ice cold. My bacon and biscuit were cold. Eggs and potatoes were hot, but potatoes way over salted. Not sure why this kitchen cannot get food out consistently. I had to ask for my orange juice twice. Probably scratch this place off my list. Other much better breakfast places in L'Burg. read more

As someone who grew up in Lynchburg with 0 brunch places, I'm so happy to see more popping up! I came here with my family on a Sunday morning. We joined the waitlist online so that when we got there, we could be seated right away. I got the Florentine Benedict (poached eggs on ciabatta with spinach, avocado, tomato, and hollandaise) which came with mixed greens dressed with lemon. It wasn't the best benedict I've ever had, but it was solid. I also got a Carrot Cake and Pecan Pancake for us all to split, which was super delicious. Service was fast and friendly. I haven't been to a first watch in years. The first one I patroned was in VA beach. I was in town visiting family and came here on a Friday morning. We were sat promptly and service was good. My food was ok. I opted for the trifecta . I got pancakes which were crumbly and dry even with syrup butter and blueberry compote. The eggs were eggs. . The bacon and my iced coffee were the best part. The last time I'd gone I sat outside . My mom had never been. So when it came to check out neither of us knew we needed to walk to the front. We sat for another 10+ mins waiting for our waitress to come and take our payment. It wasn't until we saw another person walk up to the front with their receipt did we figure out we needed do the same to pay. We had alot to do that day so it was a waste of time and should definitely be mentioned. read more

This place has so many terrific ingredients for success but sadly the food is kind of mid. The decor, vibe, menu, staff are all on point. The menu looks terrific with lots of interesting choices, Our servers and host are doing a great job. The place is clean and always packed. I appreciate that you can get on a wait list online and they text you when your table is ready. The system works well. Unfortunately the food is meh. So, my sister wanted to have lunch at First Watch yesterday. Walking in I saw their advertisement for a new entre, Shrimp and Grits. So , I was game since the dish also came with Andouille Sausage and toasted bread. Y'all what I got was not hitting for me. I got a burnt mess on top of the very nice grits. The shrimp was burnt, sausage burnt, tomatoes burnt, onions burnt. My first spoonful told me something was off. The picture on my plate did not match the picture of the beautiful ad at all. I didn't get toasted bread, I got buttered bread. To give some justice to the dish maybe another chef should make it. Other customers may like it but not this girl. Not to worry I'm on for another visit. I intend to work my way through the entire menu and more of that delicious coffee. read more

Absolutely amazing. This was our first time visiting a First Watch after a ton of recommendations - it exceeded expectations. The waitress was one of the nicest waitresses we've had anywhere. Service was fast even though it was very crowded. We both got the turkey sausage gravy with biscuits, eggs, and potatoes - 10/10, my boyfriend said it was the single best breakfast he has ever had. The breakfast mocktails were great too - we recommend the purple haze especially! The atmosphere was great - very open, bright, and clean! This is probably my single favorite breakfast place in Lynchburg. (Despite some other reviews complaining about the prices, you get a LOT of food that is super high quality, so I think the pricing is as it should be!) Had brunch at First Watch today with a friend I haven't seen in 3 years! Our waitress, Ashlynne, was so kind and listened to our dietary needs and restrictions (gluten, dairy, and peanut allergies!). She was so hospitable and checked on us very regularly to make sure everything was perfect. I have been wanting to try First Watch for a while now, as all of my friends back home in NJ looooove it! Let me just say- it is worth the hype! (and that is saying a lot because I have been missing the Diner-esque vibes from Jersey). I got the Parma Skillet Hash and it was amazing !!! The side of fruit was so fresh, as well! We were so engaged in our conversation and the food that we forgot to take a picture of our meals, but the presentation was A+. The staff was delightful and the decor was beautiful. The wait was not as long as stated even though it was a full house. The wait for the food was about 30 mins as my waiter told me the kitchen was backed up. The roasted potatoes could have been cooked longer and cut up into smaller portions to help with crispness as they were a little soft. I loved that the syrup was warm for my entire meal. Hot chocolate was good but not as chocolaty as I'm used to from surrounding restaurants. Muffin of the day was amazing, perfectly made. After seating, no acknowledgement of our presence at all, while staff waited on others and seemed to be chatting with each other in whispered tones, all while ignoring our presence. The staff isn't friendly at all. The ambiance isn't bad but looks like a lot of other places. The food was decent but nothing to write home about. It was nice to have a gluten free option. The seat had milk on it and when I asked the waitress to clean it before I sat down she acted like it was a bother and took a really long time to get a rag to clean it. The coffee is pretty terrible. No matter how much sweetener and cream I used it was still bitter. It seems like a lot of places these days where the food is overpriced, the staff doesn't seem to want you there and I can make better food at home so next time I'll just keep driving to my own kitchen instead. read more
