The food was hit or miss. My eggs Benedict was horrible (my poached eggs were hard boiled, see pictures) but my wife got the tri fecta and she liked it. The service is the biggest downfall. After combing through Yelp reviews. I settled on First Watch. It was a Saturday morning in Nashville, so the wait was about 45 minutes. Once we were seated the service went pretty fast. We ordered 2 kids meals and the lemon ricotta pancakes with eggs, grits and bacon. The pancakes were a little dry, probably due to over cooking, the eggs were cooked perfectly and the bacon was delicious! They forgot to bring our grits out, so they didn't get served until we were almost done eating all the other items. If you want to have breakfast without having to wait, get there when they first open! If you wait till 8:30 on a weekend you'll be waiting awhile. The food is always fresh and flavorful, and the multi grain toast is some of the best you'll find anywhere. We actually buy a loaf to take home with us each time we go. Ah, the first time I tried this place was in Bentwood a few years ago. I liked it then and I liked it now too. We came here for lunch to celebrate my little sister's birthday. I had the turkey burger with the tomato soup. My mom had the chicken avocado chop salad, my sister had a Parma hash and my dad had a sandwich (can't remember which one and I didn't take a picture). My sister loves this place and because it was her birthday she got to pick. We enjoyed our time, we came closer to the close time so there weren't a lot of people but they still had a few customers and some still rushing in. Our server was attentive and friendly. Our food was brought fresh and very quickly. We didn't have any issues besides my dad not having his sandwich toasted but he forgot to asked for it so not the server's fault. Overall this is a nice place to get a healthier meal at a decent price. They have different locations here and also around the US. First watch hermitage 6/2/22 I'm sorry to say this is the first time I've been disappointed by First Watch. It's one of my favorite places in Nashville and I go there every visit. This was my third visit to First Watch this time. What a disappointment this visit was. I've been here many times and it was always always always perfect. Never one complaint. Sorry to say this visit didn't live up to that. First, we did not get any water with our coffee. Usually they bring a glass bottle of cold water with glasses with the coffee. Sometimes they ask but usually they just bring it. This time it was almost the end of the meal when I finally asked for water. Everyone else around us had their bottle of water right from the start. The restaurant was fairly busy so I'm gonna give the server a pass on that. She was running her butt off. I ordered my usual avocado toast, two eggs with a side of cheese grits. The cheese grits were amazing as always and I enjoyed them very much. The eggs were severely undercooked, slimy looking and covered in whatever kind of oil they cook them in. I used my napkin to try to swab up the oil some and the whole top of the egg stuck to the napkin. I had to try to scrape it off the napkin. They were a little chunks of paper napkin stuck in what was left of the eggs. It was really hard to get off the egg because the napkin just disintegrated into smaller pieces when I try to pluck it out. The white was nowhere near done. It look like congealed snot. I ain't eating that. Finally got the attention of the server ) very busy, remember) and she swapped the eggs for fresh ones. We had finished everything else well before the eggs finally came. The avocado was perfectly ripe and delicious but the toast was also undercooked. I like my toast to be toast. This was undercooked to the point it was pretty much just warm bread. I didn't send that back though because they were really busy and I don't like to send things back. I was very disappointed in this visit, and I've been here plenty of times. What a great breakfast! My husband and I were looking for a decent place to eat breakfast and boy did we find the perfect place. We started out with a lovely fresh juiced concoction of orange, lemon, turmeric, ginger and beets, called Morning Meditation. It was beautiful when served and tasted so incredibly fresh. We loved having something so delicious and different from ordinary juice offerings. Next we tried the mini donuts with 3 sauces: berry, chocolate and vanilla. Served hot and fresh, these were a great start, and end, of the meal. Definitely worth checking out. Lastly, we tried the Farmhouse Hash with potatoes, avocado, tomatoes and eggs. OMG, this was so darn tasty. What a great combination. Everything was very well executed from the service to the food and to their special blend of coffee. A poor experience saved by a very kind and professional manager. I had to wait 40 extra minutes after I arrived for an online order and then received not even half of what I ordered. I ordered biscuits + gravy + eggs + fruit and only received a biscuit. I called around closing time and Curtis (I think this was his name) was quick to correct this mistake with a full refund. I will start with the highlight which earned the two stars. The shareable donut holes were very good. I wish they would have come out like an appetizer because we did have over an hour wait for a table. While we waited, there was both a 4 seat table and three seats at a bar that reminded empty because they needed to be cleaned. When we did get seated, our glasses were dirty. I ordered the baconado omelette. I did expect to actually have a fair amount of avocado given that it was one of the main ingredients, I would say there was approximately an 1/8 of an avocado. My omelette smelled like old grease which was pretty overwhelming. My potatoes were cold and not completely cooked. My husband ordered the lemon pancake and it was good but nothing special. I think the server was trying but basically was very overwhelmed. Long review short, if you are looking to be underwhelmed and disappointed, give it a shot! read more
