I move every few years and this is the first time I had the pleasure of using First-Rate Movers. My realtor in DE recommended this company and I am glad I heeded his advice! They did an excellent job. The estimator was thorough in taking inventory virtually of the furniture in my home. He provided me with a written estimate a few days later. Andrea, who coordinated and managed my move was professional, efficient and courteous. It must be difficult to keep calm dealing with very stressed people like me. She communicated every step of the way, texting me with the time the men left the office, to their ETA. The crew, led by LT, consisted of Cam, Layne, Nykese and Andre. These five gentlemen were very careful and covered the floor and doorways with padding, not hesitating to ask questions, and did not waste any time in loading up my 2,700 square foot home. They worked well together as a cohesive team, which is quite rare these days. The next day, I met the crew in Dover. Once again, they arrived on time, unloaded everything, put furniture together, and were completed in record time. The final estimate came in on budget, as expected, with no surprises! I highly recommend First-Rate Movers and will definitely be using them again, hopefully not for another five years! Absolutely and simply "first rate!!" read more

I recently used First Rate Movers for a move within Delaware, and I couldn't be happier with the service I received. From the very beginning, the team was professional, communicative, and helpful. They provided a clear and detailed quote, answered all of my questions, and even offered some useful packing tips. On moving day, the team arrived right on time and got to work immediately. Brian, Kenny, and Sean were very careful with all of my belongings, wrapping furniture and fragile items securely, and they took great care not to damage my home or any of my belongings. They worked efficiently but never rushed, and they were always friendly and professional. Once we arrived at my new home, the team unloaded everything quickly and placed each item exactly where I wanted it. They even offered to help me reassemble furniture that I had disassembled before the move. Overall, I couldn't be happier with the service I received from First Rate Movers. Moving can be stressful, but this team made the process as smooth and painless as possible. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a reliable and professional moving company in Delaware. I used First Rate Movers a second time, and I'm not quite as pleased. I originally made the appointment for 8am. I got an email from Brett the day before the move asking if I could move my appointment to the 11-noon slot because they had a bigger, out-of-state move who needed my spot. I agreed because I really didn't have any other options. It's not like you can reschedule a move with different movers with one day notice. 11 came and went. The movers called at noon saying they'd be on their way soon. They arrived at 2. Six hours after my original appointment. The movers are pleasant, quick, and careful with my belongings. My only concern is that being a repeat customer and scheduling my move almost a month in advance should have granted me some type of priority. I shouldn't have been bumped to accommodate someone else, especially with only one day notice. This inconvenience costed me a day in my move and put me behind schedule. I regularly recommended this company on social media. I don't think I will anymore. read more

We were very happy with First-Rate movers from the initial contact through the move and follow-up. The office got back to my quickly after my initial inquiry by email and let me know when to expect the quote. I gave them all the information about the move and they sent the quote over as expected. I had to update the move date a couple of times and they quickly handled that. They confirmed the move date a few days prior and contacted me when the team left their office (good for confirming the travel times and making sure that we were prepared). The movers showed up on time and did everything in the expected time. They were attentive and careful; we didn't have any problems with either the furniture or walls/carpets/floors. The quote was spot-on and they didn't pad the travel time or move time and were very friendly to work with. Brett followed up the next day to send a copy of the invoice and make sure that we were happy. read more

Very happy with Brett and First Rate Movers. Prompt, move hours within estimate. Handled items carefully and made sure everything was wrapped in moving blankets. Team was very friendly. Brett personally loaded the truck as well as packed our items into a storage unit with great care. He had to bring his smaller truck and knew we might not fit, said he would come back and pick up anything that didn't fit at no charge. Ended up being able to fit the couple of items that didn't make it into the truck into my care, so was not an issue. Also worked to fit us into his schedule on only about a month's notice. Would definitely recommend these guys - local business, very courteous. We have a vacation home in DE which is where we used Brett but that is not our permanent home, thus the VA address in my profile. read more

I was very happy with the service from First-Rate movers. I used them with the previous owners but found out it had changed hands when I needed them this time. Brian was very responsive with the quote and the automatic notifications as the move date approached were great. Andre and Keith were the movers and they did an excellent job fitting everything into the truck. We weren't sure there was going to be space but they managed to get everything in and well secured and placed. They hustled and got the job done with just a bit over the original time estimate because we took time to get the last cumbersome pieces in place. It can be hit-or-miss with movers but I was very happy with FR and with Andre and Keith! read more

We had a great experience with this moving company. The three men who provided the service (Keith, Andre and Jacob) provided great customer service and were very professional in all ways. The three of them obviously knew what they were doing as they seemingly effortlessly moved bulky furniture, etc. It was also refreshing to see employees who seemed happy to do their job with all three of them having very positive attitudes. There were no issues with our move. They arrived on time and actually got the move completed earlier than had been expected. Pricing seemed fair. We would definitely recommend this company and the crew that handled our move. read more

I was very impressed with First-Rate Movers. Brett gave me an estimate and even though the time line exceeded the estimate, he stuck to what he stated as costs. The team of Glenn, Brian, and Brett (and Brett's dad at the one end) helped me with the moving truck because my move in date differed from my move out date. They included loading up my storage unit and they even closed my account there for me since I was at the house when they loaded the unit. They never got upset when I asked them to move things multiple times due to me changing my mind. I trusted them completely and would highly recommend them to anyone moving!!! read more

We contacted Brett to help us move the contents of our 5 bedroom house into storage. We thought the pricing and plan for the move over 3 days was very good. Brett and his moving crew were very professional and careful with our furniture and belongings. Brett was willing to work with us on a move date although it was short notice. The crew was friendly and professional and we enjoyed the moving experience. They were able to carefully pack our storage unit and actually fit everything so that we didn't have to rent another unit for overflow. We are looking forward to having First-Rate move our things out of storage next year. read more

We had a perfect move with the team from First Rate Movers and I'd like to personally commend Jon, Brian H., Cam, Dave and Jake for being extra careful with our special pieces of furniture. They were on time, and really took care of a few antique pieces of furniture that required extra special attention. The logistics of our move was a bit complicated due to leaving a highrise building but we did not hear one complaint from the guys! Everything has been unpacked now and Id also like to report that nothing was damaged or broken! Great job team! I highly recommend their services. Deb& Mike Everett read more

I chose First-Rate for my local move (from one apartment to another in the same complex) because I didn't want to use a large carrier and they are located in the same area. Everyone who spoke with me by phone to work out the estimate and arrange for the move was pleasant and helpful. Glen and Andre (the movers) were efficient and accommodating (they were very patient when we had to move some stuff around. They handled my belongings with appropriate care, and the rate I paid seemed fair for the work that was done. I would definitely schedule with them again if another move became necessary! read more

Brian, the owner, was extremely responsive/hands on and helpful throughout the process. Moving an entire house with TVs/bedroom sets/furniture is difficult, and any issues that incurred were swiftly fixed by the owner. The movers were very friendly, and Rose, the coordinator was also very helpful and kind. First Rate wasn't cheapest option, but trust me, do not cheap out on moving all of your expensive belongings! First Rate was worth every penny. You get what you pay for! I don't think a cheap company would have been so attentive and responsive. read more

Just completed a major move from Lewes DE to upstate DE. The entire team I worked with beginning with my request for a quote on my planned move to carefully emptying my house and working tirelessly to get me set up in my new place was appreciated. Everyone was professional, understanding, courteous and highly efficient in completing my move. It was the first time I hired a moving company. I know I made the right choice in movers for the scope of the move I was making. Congratulation, First-Rate Movers! Job well done! read more

Terrific experience from start to finish. I contacted FRM months in advance preparing to move into our new home that was under construction. They came out, gave me an estimate and were very understanding and flexible with the date of the actual move. I hired them to pack everything in my old house and move to the new house. The crew was super. My pack and move took three full days (which they told me up front.....it was a big house to a bigger house) and everything went smoothly. read more

Moving can be stressful! However, from the first call to the office to the actual move, this company exceeded my expectations! Rapid response to get a quote, immediate responses to email questions, and on time arrival on moving day! These guys were amazing moving large, heavy furniture up two flights of stairs! They worked efficiently and carefully. Took care of some special requests cheerfully throughout the process. Two thumbs up to this company and their employees!! read more

Just used First-Rate this weekend to move in Lewes. They were fabulous and I highly recommend them. They were on-time, took care to wrap and pack my goods to protect them. We had zero dings on the wall and no dings on any of our belongings!!!! Jake, Nykesse, and Sean'vre were a fabulous move team!!! Big shout out to Andrea in Operations who I spoke to many times to prepare and she followed up to make sure the move was successful! They care about their clients! read more

I'm not opposed to the bigger moving companies but I wanted to keep the money local, so to speak, and work with a small business. First-Rate Movers provided excellent service, and a friendly atmosphere throughout the process. The team arrived exactly when they said they would, strategically unloaded my truck, and carefully placed all of the items in the house. I would recommend you consider reaching out to First-Rate Movers to discuss your moving needs with Brett! read more

Hi Jim, I just wanted to let you know that the guys were amazing! They put everything together, managed to move incredibly heavy furniture and never missed a beat! They were very careful not to damage the furniture or nick the walls. I'm very grateful and so impressed with their professionalism! This is the second time that we used the company. We will continue to recommend you to anyone in need of a mover! Many thanks, Dodi & Larry read more

Couldn't be happier. I needed two guys for two hours to unload my moving POD. There was a hitch with the POD delivery and Brett was as accommodating as could be, sent his team over as soon as the POD was finally delivered. The guys worked fast, no breaks, let me know when my two hours were running out to give me the option of extending (unwrapping my furniture) if I chose. Price was very reasonable and exactly as promised. Highly recommend. read more
