First Rate went well above and beyond to fix an issue that happened during the move. The movers were very careful but in transporting a rather delicate bench, the arm was broken. Brian drove up to our house in Annapolis to repair it. And not only did he come once, but he came back a second time to make sure it was done properly and to our satisfaction. I would say that is pretty unusual in today's business environment. This was such a personal response that truly showed how these people care!

They assured us they would be there at 830am and the truck would be big enough for a 3 bedroom house. After many excuses by the owner they showed up at 11am with a 26 ft truck.mind you there were no pianos,large appliance etc. twelve hours later and after 2 trips they were done. They damaged a very nice desk by ripping a leg off but the complaint went nowhere and a refusal to reimburse. The man on the phone said "There's a 2 hour minimum - might as well use our truck. It's $140 an hour you'll get 3 men. If you go over 2 hours we will charge in 15 minute increments" So I said "Great. It won't be more than 300 (my budget) HE AGREED. "YES MAAM FOR TWO HOURS". The drivers (ONLY 2 MEN) showed up to the storage locker 30 minutes late. I started my timer and set an alarm. I kept them over one hour expecting to pay $420. One of the guys (driver) spent a MINIMUM of 15 minutes on the phone during the move. At the end they HIT ME with a 4 HOUR BILL TELLING ME THAT THERE WAS A CHARGE FOR TRAVEL TO GET TO THE STORAGE AREA AND TO GET BACK TO THE OFFICE FROM MY HOUSE!!! I would never recommend this company to anyone.

It took 4 hours with previous movers. These guys took 6 hours to move and then charged me travel time to get to the job at 1.5 hours; so 7.5 total hours charged. Previous movers did not charge me to travel to the job. And, I didn't learn that I was paying for travel until the end of the move. Their hourly rate is $160 hour. Buyer be aware. PS- they also charge a 4% fee for using a credit card to pay. Again, wasn't aware of that until it was time to pay.
